>>96139607 (OP)>>Thread Question:>Which part of the Warhammer fantasy world interests you most?I'm a sucker for the worldbuilding elements that are instrumental to have the setting be an open kitchen sink, give me 200 tidbits of info about the world and it won't do much for me, give me one fundamental that can be branched into a hundred things and I'll get drunk on it.
>>96139607 (OP)I like the Chaos Wastes, and the whole Path to Glory concept in general. I'd like more twisted kingdoms and citadels that spring up beneath the shadow of chaos.
>Which part of the Warhammer fantasy world interests you most?
Not the skaven which absolutely do not exist-exist.
>>96139607 (OP)>Which part of the Warhammer fantasy world interests you most?I was sucked into the generic fantasy with a twist.
Wizards, elves, orcs, undead but instead of medieval (excluding Bretonia) the humans are early modern.
Tbh I think it could have been explored more. Instead of cool Reformation conflicts, Luther Huss is like a minor reference.
>>96139725This but unironically.
Skaven are shit. Worse than Cathay.
I write them off as a minor Beastmen faction. Like forest goblins in O&G
Which Army of Infamy makes for the most cool/interesting/fluffy looking army on the tabletop, would you say?
>>96139607 (OP)The Chaos Dwarfs captivate me so much in everything from lore and aesthetics but I mostly just like how they're "ordered chaos". Like they have a society, industry, disciplined military, etc. They're not like the rampaging Beastmen or Chaos Warriors who'll just destroy everything, they have strategy and a meticulous way of doing things. If only they weren't so neglected by GW
>>96139607 (OP)>TQEmpire, I just really like the Northern Renaissance aesthetic and WFRP's attempts at making it a somewhat working society, even if it fails a lot of the time
(one of the games I've played yesterday and didn't forget to take some pics) Years after a bunch of dwarves saved two empire noblemen an emissary of the old race returned to Stirland and asked for an aid. As it turned out, one of the sealed outposts in the border princess was opened and pilfered by undead from the southern lands. While gathering their forces, they did send a small party to take a foothold and disturbed accursed dead from which they could retake lands around the minor hold.
>>96139830Most comfortable and soulful, anon.
>>96139738This is probably a rather noobish question, but what i the difference between an Ink, be it acrylic or enamel, vs a Wash?
>>96139607 (OP)>Death to Beastmen EditionMeanwhile your spouse is giving birth to them, RAAROO!
>>96139830While the undead shambled forward and sent volley after volley of arrows, they managed to massacre the young noblemen moving on the far right flank. Forces of men were slowed by the river and tried to bide their time and shoot in from the distance. Nevertheless undead which once crumbled stood up again over and over again. They were also much faster than anticipated by some foul magic tricks they performed. Finally, when the empire line moved forward, it was assaulted and had to stood it's ground. With the help of a Slayer (yes, I was running a Slayer hero instead of one of my own from the empire), they managed to secure the right flank and move into the center of the field. The river, which was slowing them down, became a natural obstacle that withheld the undead, and as soon as the knights managed to free themselves from the wild charge of the chariots, they managed to pincer the enemy. Unfortunately, the slayer didn't meet his doom. Both the priest and the tomb prince made a retreat to their main forces.
In the next game, we'll raise the points, and the Empire will be trying to break through the Tomb Kings lines.
>>96139808Looks good.
Are those 25x25 bases (not the big one but the rest of them)?
>>96139904What does the chaos tornado in the middle represent?
>>96139901yup, 25mm and 50mm respectively
>>96139915A surprisingly immobile chaos tornado.
>>96139878They behave in a fairly similar fashion but an ink will tint any surfaces it touches much more heavily than a wash will, almost like a contrast
>>96139808Would they fit on 20x20?

I remember that dwarf gate from the terrain thread.
>>96139894Dope report, board, and models. Keep it coming
>TQI love how all the areas meet, like my wood eleves are meadow glade kindred, protectors of the route between bretonnia and tilea on the vaults, and you can have conceivably fighting dwarfs, humans, orcs, gobbos, beastmen, chaos cults, delegations from Lothren and Cathay, even a Chorf/ogre/etc merc band. >>96139941You could probably make it work, but they wouldn't fit comfortably. Some of their tails do extend quite far off their bodies.
>>96139972Just to note, they protect the glades from people straying from the route. Which thus bring fantasy, ofc there's always some cockgobbler going "everyone that takes a shortcut through murder meadow dies. It's impossible and suicidal. But for us it will be fiiinnnneeee."

>>96140075that depends on the unit, there is no general rule
>>96140081For stuff that isn't elite like chaos chosen but isn't super chaff like skavenslaves or goblins. Grave guard, veteran state troops, eternal guard and the like.
>>96139638No one has to tell Beastmen to die.
>>96140091I'd say, as a general rule, 6x3 for things that want to hit stuff like eternal guard and grave guard, 5x4 for blocks that just need to hold and use combat res.
I'm such a narrative-pilled fluffcel I asked my opponents if it's okay if I use some named characters in my list before handing him their background I wrote
>>96140176kino, I always when possible want to string together a narrative when I play as well
>>96140176this is sad because I know for a matter of fact that everyone appreciates the thought, but noone actually bothers to ask for anyone's else fluff, let alone read it, making handing out one's dudes unprompted somewhat automatically cringeworthy
You are put in charge by GW to actually try make Beastmen popular (by WHFB standards), how do you do it?
>>96140292>updade their range with proper mintaursthat shoud do it
>>96140292Models that don't look like shit. They already have proper digitally sculpted gors and ungors ready to be used as templates, and good minos are as trivial as giving ogroids full cow heads.
>>96140292More cool evil armour, scavenged shit doesn't look great.
>>96140292put some real gruesome bits in there like human prisoners, sacrificial altars etc. Lean heavily into their degenerate nature
>>96140367More scavenged shit, "cool" evil armor usually looks dumb.
>>96140292More war beasts
>>96140411The goal is to make them more popular, you're just doubling down on what makes them unpopular.
>>96140292Move then away from cow/goat and more towards a whole managerie of freakish bestial creatures. Lots of head and arm customization.
>>96140292Focus on no Empire beastmen (Naggaroth Beastmen, Southland Beastmen, Cathay Beastmen)
>>96140292They are a literal NPC army. They exist to be chaff that is killed as more important characters and armies move from one city or town to the next. They have no real story or characters or goal or anything.
The only notable thing about them is the rape, and GW won't touch that with a 10000x foot pole and if they did, you would have a million seething Redditors and Youtubers talking about how GW is gross and exploiting "SA" trauma or some shit.
>>96140487>>96140523This is correct, the army is already quite distinct
Also new razorgors, harpies, hounds even some sort of creepy crawlies swarm etc could do a lot.
>>96140292plastic centigors
updated minotaurs
plastic chariots
not!forsaken unit made of mini beastmen spawn with plenty of non-goat heads and atypical bodyplans
big plastic kit for an "ascended beastman" that can be built as either a version that resembles baphomet, or a version that resembles a vero version of a chaos spawn
copypaste of aos characterisation of beastmen as being generally scornful of the gods and their worshippers, who are respectively fake imperfect aspects of chaos and weaklings begging for favours, and instead worshipping TRVE amorphous chaos undivided
introduce plot hooks for assaults and goals that aren't the usual generic random battles, and examples of them doing stuff that isn't crashing against the wood elves or bretonnia and dying, possibilities for successful events include an invasion that sees them pushing past cathay's defenses and tainting their territory forevermore where it was once untouched, if this assault comes from the south it would be a good occasion to add a few more details regarding beastmen out of the old world, as well as giving beastmen bragging rights about having a major victory against the fire dragon.
another candidate for a fun piece of lore might involve the fantasy equivalent of 40k's war for octarius, in short an event between two monstrous factions with little interferences from the good guy factions with the plot armour to make the story end predictably, an ongoing conflict between beastmen and greenskins in the bloodlands creates the perfect chance for inspiring brutal fun, as well as setting the ground work to detail the interactions between beastmen and other races, with the orcs it might be one of genuine respect, enough to make the two rub together on momentary alliances, skaven sound like a perfect third element for them to bash on as a side treat
another promising location could be naggaroth, offering both dark elves and lizardmen, low on plot armor for beastmen to have new, creative interactions
>>96140600>copypaste of aosHow'd that turn out mister Squat?
>>96139808What's the deal with the huge base on the character?
has anyone on the internet made a broke man's guide to TOW? like, surely someone out there has crunched the numbers and worked out the most cost effective 2000 point army out there?
>>96140292Female models. Unironically.
>>96139830Cool Dwolf home.
I would say your terrain is not thriving with all of that raw milk chocolate brown on the finish. Flock would make it look better and less like open expanses of mud. Even just a lightening layer of paint so it look like dirt (flock still better tho).
>>96140367bestigors and beastlords should have oldhammer chaos armor
>>96139607 (OP)The Renaissance-esque era of the Empire, where there's guns and black powder weapons, past the filthy and dark middle ages, with medical knowledge starting to get traction, depsite being new and dangerous.

>>96140621Infantry is on 25mm, which he is too big for, so I had to use the next compatible size to rank him up. It's gonna be a nice opportunity to do some elaborate basing

>>96140730He does fit on a 25mm
>>96140600continuing
expand on them and their lore by using the successful approach already long tried and tested with greenskins, chaos, skaven and vampires: make up various subfactions each with their slightly peculiar theme and have them coexist in the same armylist.
extra mutated beastmen is one visual characterization, connecting with the importance of morghur and their trve faith regarding the amorphous original chaos
beastmen that are more in line with the 4 gods and their servants (shaggoth and fimir too) is another, making them visually specialising on the generic chaos warrior or marked look, rather than the more barbaric one
by drawing on the greek inspirations of beastmen I think there is space for a subfaction where they look equipped less like generic barbarians and perhaps more like bronze age warriors, maybe squatting on the ruins that dot the black gulf and the badlands
4th look could be one that's less about the equipment and more about the trinkets, and they could be visually distinct by having shamanistic vibes of north american redskins, with tattoos, extremely spiritual and (dark) magical, rather than focusing on raw physicality
5th group is the normal classical barbarian of the old world, hateful of civilisation in the extreme, more than the others, and pillaging and raiding both out of hatred for humans and out of sheer sadistic pleasure
once groups like these are established, there can be rules that can be made to reflect how a unit or list of one group should have different rules, or how there could be exclusive units, and so on new plot hooks and new characters
>>96140739that's rules, I'm talking models there
>>96140739which have no minis and desperately need something to them more than โforsaken but worseโ and โgors but more expensiveโ
>>96140759Not with his two little lackeys he don't, but that's a good way of solving it, too
>>96140761faction theming is easy, just introduce god-aligned beasts and re-introduce pestigors, tzaangors, etcโฆ
(unfortunately this cannibalizes AoS) but atm you canโt buy nurgle or khorne gors anywhere so start there. taurox leads a khorne faction, slugtongue a nurgle one, etc. (hear me out) if you really want to sell models invent a big titted cow woman and have her lead a slaanesh faction
>>96140818>Big uddered, with blind midget pig men crawling across her fur, trying to get that delicious, delicious pus-infested milk. Better off with nurgle I suppose
>>96140818the problem with sticking only to the 4 gods is that it doesn't make beastmen more popular, it only cements them as npc tools for the more popular god aligned mortals, it's certainly something that's nice to have, since historically it has been a thing for warhammer, and they can and should bring back the god aligned beastmen models, but I feel beastmen also need stuff that can be more properly uniquely theirs.
>>96140623There isn't much demand for such a thing considering TOW is already much cheaper than GW's other games. Buying two battalion boxes and a character box is generally enough to get you >=2000 points and is like ~$400 USD
>>96140730Have you experienced or thought about how that works in-game?
Do you consider him himself + 3x of whatever infantry he's joined?
Not asking to criticize or bitch. I hate autistic pedants and wysiwygnazoids. But I'm working on new Skaven models for TOW right now too, and trying to anticipate problems and quirks.
Just today I learned that there's no shot the new Warp Grinder fits on a cavalry base. Might just fit on a 50x50.
>>96140600>copypaste of aos characterisation of beastmen as being generally scornful of the gods and their worshippers, who are respectively fake imperfect aspects of chaos and weaklings begging for favours, and instead worshipping TRVE amorphous chaos undividedAnon that's already their lore.
>>96140956He's himself + 3 clan rats or storm vermin, should be simple enough. That being said, I'm not too concerned with rules conformity in general. I do this mostly for the hobbying and to keep my hands off the keyboard.
>>96140623You can pretty much make one WoC battalion 2000 points if you convert a bit. Or two old Ogre spearheads.
>>96140956Oh, I'll be doing the warp grinder soon as well. I'll post it here once I've decided how to base it. Might end up using a 50x50 to give it some space to breathe.
>>96140950>~$400 USD>CheaperDamn. I didn't know things had gotten that bad.
>>96140623WoC battalion, ogor spearhead, wood elf, then the bretonnian/tombking boxes, are all easy 1200 to 1500pt lists up to 2k with some kitbash conversions
Really the only army you couldn't get to 1500-2k for under 300 dollars is orcs and gobbos or empire. And then we have a very healthy 3rd party system and 3d printing culture so you can get very, very cheap relative to 40k
>>96141087Yeah I feel like you can push that way cheaper once you get away from the "official model" tax.
And it's not a lot of money in the first place considering the hours and hours of hobby time this is going to result in
Should I just get soulblight gravelord's minis for vampire counts? I live in a small euro country so there aren't many people selling old VC stuff and those that do are selling it for way too much money.
Will the aos minis fit the smaller square bases?
>>96141133Itโs an expensive hobby for those who buy boxes and never do anything with them. Which is a surprising number of people. For those that clean, assemble, paint and play with each purchase. Itโs pretty reasonably priced considering say a battalion can easily take 40-50 hours to complete at a decent pace.
>>96141185>Will the aos minis fit the smaller square bases?Poorly.
>>96141189Yeah this, hoarding boxes is not a hobby, it's being a whale
>>96140959I'm relatively sure that is not their lore in fantasy, unless they have added it with tow, then by their older armybooks they were always the misbegotten children of chaos who will never be particularly cared for by the gods because they have less agency.
Has the GMโs guide for TOW RPG come out yet?
It's crazy that basically all physical traces of the old skaven packmasters/rat ogres/giant rats kit has disappeared off the face of the internet. I just wanted some of the plastic packmasters, but it's like every single model got dumpstered or melted down.
>>96141114Yeah like even myself who's not a diehard anti GW find about half my army, and my opponents, are a Mix of kitbash, recasts, and 3rd party. People are just far more relaxed and like
>>96141189 says old world is a bit more involved so people are willing to spend the time, research, and money to help get an optimal army. Unlike 40k where it's just FOTM and waacshit so often with insane costs.
>>96141214Jeez they are huge, has anyone tried the new dragon yet? I love that sculpt but it looks unplayable at first glance
>>96141214They probably actively make this the case btw to prevent cross use.
>>96139808If I knew you I would genuinely think less of you for owning that warlord model
>>96141231Nope I would expect it sometime this week. C7 doesn't have much else in the release schedule at this point
>>96141270I think it's the second best GW ever produced. Granted, it's no queek headtaker, but it has its own charm. Pretty much what I've imagined a warlord with fellblade to look like, plus some nice details with his lackeys carrying his scabbard and pistol.
>>96141264It's just scale creep. I had to mark the bottom of my Chaos Knights bases that I use as Chosen so that they can rank up.
>>96141311You should not have the right to vote or drive a car.
>>96141270>If I knew you I would genuinely think lesseven less than you're capable of thinking now?
>>96141349>we made the bases bigger to accommodate the figures>here's new figures that already don't fit on the new larger sizeGW is obnoxious some times. Many times.
>>96141365Guess I'm lucky your opinion is of no consequence then
>>96140292Include Fimir. Make them way more chaotic in mutations (though this is required for all chaos factions desu, one where GW stuff gets mogged by games like Kingdom Death). Make them way more genuinely terrifying monsters in general.
Skaven and Orks have comedy to them, where Beastmen should be nothing more than evil rape murder machines that hide just beyond the treeline.
>>96141229Beastmen generally looking down on "organized chaos" worship has always been a thing. The different God-gors have always been the black sheep (ha) of beastmen herds and only show up once the individual gods become powerful enough to directly influence beastmen. That's why in TOW they only get access to chaos undivided and shamans get access to the lore of beasts instead of the lores of chaos. They seek to execute the will of chaos in its pure, chaotic form not for ulterior motives like power or to play the great game or to get a specific God's favor.
You never see beastmen demon princes or "ascended beastmen" because they don't seek to become more than they are because what the already are is all they want.
>>96141214I mean the only one that looks egregious is the second from the left but, (assuming that's the back hoof on the base there) it looks like you may have just glued it too far to the front of the base.
>>96140920i think it would actually make them more popular, people love the color-coded monogod shit
and "god-aligned" doesn't have to mean "tools", 40k shows this off nicely by having the traitor primarchs have their own agendas and personalities even though they're owned by different gods
>>96141270>AoS bad, buy my etsy proontings
>>96141383The chaos knights aren't new anon
>>96141214Are those 25x50mm bases?
>>96141467That's more in reference to the Bretonnian and Tomb King characters they showed when TOW was shown.
>>96141434>Beastmen generally looking down on "organized chaos" worship has always been a thing. The different God-gors have always been the black sheep (ha) of beastmen herds and only show up once the individual gods become powerful enough to directly influence beastmenIf that's always been a thing then I don't know where it comes from because it's definitely not from their armybooks, both of them never bring up this scorn towards the gods or their mortal followers and go at length about how the beastmen are utterly in thrall of the gods and seek and receive blessings the same way of the normal chaos champions, while being less regarded because it's their nature to serve chaos so it's not fun to taint them.
Every time I read the lore that anons dump here, Iโm always glad I picked up green skins, because holy shit it canโt get dumber than them.
>>96141570Greenskins are actually the most intelligent and self fulfilled race. Only fools think otherwise.
>>96141570To be fair, it's mainly chaos that's massively gay due to a few writers' weird obsessions.
>>96139830> Fully painted armies> Great terrainSOVL and KINO
>>96141525I would have guessed WFRP, but that game has Beastmen teaming up with Tzeentch cults like the Red Crown to overthrow the Empire, so I'm not sure it's from there.
maybe Liber Chaotica and Realm of Chaos
>>96140292New chariots, razorgors, centigors, minotaurs, and each of those respective hero options.
>>96141670I doubt it, realm of chaos had them walking the path to glory pretty interchangeably with the other chaos champions.
It still had minotaurs as humans mutated as a reward for protecting a chaos shrine.
>>96141688So probably Liber Chaotica, then or some BL book like Beastslayer.
>>96141733Or you thought it was canon while it never was until aos.
>>96141761No I was a different anon that was trying to give the original anon the benefit of the doubt
>>96141227The metal Blood Knights were impossible to rank up nicely too. Not missing anything in that particular case.
>>96141026Unfortunately it looks pretty bad on a 50x50 too. Either the front wheel or the back wheels hang off the base.
>>96141311Ewww. The model overall is ok, but that sword is an absolute travesty. Unusable and stupid-looking, pure videogame shit.
I refuse to crack an AoS book, is that actually supposed to be the Fellblade? That's even more retarded. To give a human a sword like that to fight with.
>>96141270You're a faggot nigger with no friends
>>96141817Gotta admit, I was this close to shaving that thing down to a biggish sabre, might still do it. I have no clue about his lore, it just struck me as the most likely inspiration.
>>96141841If it's supposed to be a warpstone or daemon blade, it's not really anything that strange for a chaos weapon.
Slayers and Doomseekers will be getting new plastic kits alongside the upcoming AJ
>>96141851Not strange, but maybe a bit over the top. I like practical, cruel weapons for skaven, like dwarf gouger or the serrated blade from that artwork in the 6th ed. army book's eshin story.
>>96141897Wouldn't they have been shown off with the new Tomb King characters then?
>>96141905Not necessarily. The reveal streams don't show off everything coming in the next three months, they need to save some stuff for Warcom reveals.
>>96141817>>96141841>>96141851It's not THE fellblade, but it's got a verminlord trapped inside. Since krittok is one of the few skaven to actually manage to live to ""old"" age he's relatively frail and has to constantly bargain with the trapped demon to lend him strength in return for months/years being reduced from the verminlord's imprisonment.
I'm gonna say it : I like it
>>96141962That's actually kinda cool
>>96141911If GW had full brand-new Slayer sculpts to show, they would have shown them at the reveal event and left the Tomb King character for the War Comm article, as that would have been more hype for the new Arcane journals.
I wonder how that conversion aspect of the AJ is going to look like. It sounded so 90s that I thought I misheard at first.
>>96141994i almost guarantee you the AOS trannies threw a hissy fit at the idea of their new chaos dwarfs getting mogged by new plastic slayers
so they got punted.
>>96141670>I would have guessed WFRP, but that game has Beastmen teaming up with Tzeentch cultsBeastmen working with organized chaos doesn't mean they're part of it lol or that every beastmen every where thinks and does the same things. All you need to do is look at the prominent characters in beastmen.
Morghur is seen as the epitome of beastmen and one of the few depicted to actually be revered by beastmen far and wide. Described as the "incarnation of disorder and pure chaos" in the 6th edition army book for beastmen.
There's Khazrak and gorthor who are solely motivated by their hatred of civilization. And despite being the closest thing to champions of chaos that Beastmen, they bear no gifts besides what they made or took from dead men.
Even the most devout beastman shamans malagor pays no specific favors to a god and doesn't make use of their magics.
Even characters that seem to be aligned to a specific God's like taurox aren't actually blessed by or specifically worship a chaos god, just the chaos gods in general.
>>96142094It's funny you mention Khazrak as one of your examples, as WFRP has the Red Crown get him into power in the first place and are his backers
>>96142142WFRP also has black people in the empire, so let's not get too excited
>>96141994The Votaan, Chorfs, and new Space Marines were more than enough to get a lot of buzz about the stream. By holding back the Slayers until later they can get another big pop of buzz next month too.
And it lets the influencers make annoying "Year of the dwarf?????" videos that won't get lost amidst the immediate reaction to the reveal stream
Spreading it out is just good marketing sense.
>>96141244Seen it done a couple times, it just about fits on the big zombie dragon base size
>>96141383I think those are AoS chaos knights so not applicable, but absolutely applies to the Bret foot knights
>>96141214About the same as black knights/hexwraiths, maybe even better. The bases are simply way too small for 28mm horses.
2k points game today. Ogre kingdom won (and I lost) 1390 to 800.
Tons of fun very swingy game with plenty of moments when the situation completely changed in favour of the other side.
I made some choices for fluff and laughs that probably helped me losing the game (also Ogres are really hard hitting and tough to crack)
but my opponent was a great sport and both of us had a great time.
My artillery did very well and for once in 20 years of hobby my demonslayer died a glorious death doing an shitton of damage. One unit of thunderers held off against charging mournfangs.
>>96142209Not happening, weirdo.
>>96142382>for once in 20 years of hobby my demonslayer died a glorious death doing an shitton of damage.Slayer characters definitely came out a major winners this edition.
>>96141774Well I'm not just talking blood knights but also the new skellies, zombies etc
>>96142423We were playing 8th edition.
And I think part of it is the fact that I've always only run lonely slayer characters and never pur them in a slayer unit instead.
>>96140523Give us tiger beastmen from ind
>>96142404They gotta start phasing out the old metals eventually. Why not start with one of the most iconic units in the whole franchise, and why not timed with a book that will encourage people to buy a lot of them?
I mean really, how many new players are going to be like, hmm, yes, I could go with the all new plastic gorgeous Cathay miniatures, but instead I will buy 60 of these fucking things?
>>96142466>they gotta start phasing out the old metals You have found the worst fucking thing they could do with this game
>>96142466People have been begging for a plastic slayer kit for at least 25 years. The closest we ever got are the avatars of war ones which are indeed very nice. I never understood why plastic slayers had to wait AoS to get something (and even then it was rather shit)
>>96142466>could go with the all new plastic gorgeous Cathay miniatures,Pls go
>>96142596You don't have to be perrynigger tho know shit stinks
>>96142619It is you, down to the retardedly aggresive tone for no reason. Go make another diorama
>>96142511You're way more stupid than the guy who wants plastic Slayers.
So you think these old ass, aesthetically-bereft models should just stay in production indefinitely, to satisfy the glow of your nostalgia? In spite of the fact that no discerning miniature fan from the last 20+ years would want them?
End your life old drudge, tomorrow's not worth it
We really can't have a fill thread without it derailing into complete unrelated shit.
>>96142142>beastmen can't even have their 1 smart one be smartFucks sake, next book gorthor was really just belekor using him as a meat suit won't it?
>>96142433Those'll mostly be fine. At worst you'd have to number them in a workable formation (with attention paid to keeping wacky ones with huge outthrust swords or whatever on the corners).
>>96139975you could def make that work if you wanted to, but you'd have to do it pretty carefully
>>96142652schizophrenically accusing people who say literally anything you disagree with of being the current thread boogeyman has been thread culture for like a decade by now
>>96142619Perrynigger you are too easy to spot. Stop trying to falseflag you 85 iq mongoloid.
>>96142652Itโs just Perryfag. One guy not a big deal. Personally I think plastic slayers would be cool but Iโm also torn because the current metal slayers are among some of the last pre 6th dwarf sculpts that are my personal favourites.
>>96142713if this is a genuine post you need to stop using anonymous websites for your mental health
>>96141654Orcs maybe. Being a goblin basically sucks every moment with the only time not shit is when you are taking out your frustration on something else.
>>96142466I would say old metals getting phased out is honestly a ways off yet.
The beastmen release warcom article hinted at Lizardmen up next so I would say we get a round of the legacy armies slowly coming out over the next year and so. Meanwhile I actually expect the journal units that never had models to start getting them since GW absolutely SEETHES at rules for things without an official model.
I would say old metals get phased out only after armies start getting a while other once over in a presumably 2.0 style situation.
I doubt they start redoing the metals just on their own if they arenโt specifically characters.
My guess is 2027/2028 so GW can further milk those old sculpts and then also sell their replacements probably along side a system update.
>>96142433And the other one.
>>96142747That sounds like a bunch of elven propaganda
I feel like the concept of beastmen is wasted just by exploiting goats and could be better.
>>96142895Not wasted but under explored sure. Some of the descriptions of Beastmen in the first Gotrek and Felix novel Trollslayer is wild.
>>96142895Animal people are cool and we need more of them, but they shouldn't be shoehorned into the miserable cuckbag faction of beastmemes. The cringe goats should stay as they are, because they're a cringe containment race.
>>96142942This or even some short stories; I remember some bretonnia one where they have several forms.
>>96142945Give it a rest Perrynigger
>>96142895Goats are hotter, fuck off.
>>96142961In Trollslayers the description that I remember most vividly was of a Beastmen who was largely part spider crawling on his spidery gross ass legs. Also the regular Beastmen using a dog Beastmen as a sort of sad tracking hound all chained up.
>>96142895Hands should be backwards.
>>96142713>Everyone I don't like is perrynigger You're honestly shitting up the thread at this point
>>96142895The setting would be better if asians or mexicans had control over it, thats for sure.
>>96142640The setting is for the most part just a nostalgia grab. Thats the entire point of TOW. Once Gw is done with TOW, they will move onto 40k and milk that for years to come. Hopefully they wont abandon TOW until mainline 40k becomes a good game though.
>>96142987Yeah that's the type of shit that would be fantastic- mutated beastmen of sometimes several animals merged into a humanoid intelligence. Shame they don't lean into it other than 1 off villains of various stories.
>>96142804>GW absolutely SEETHES at rules for things without an official modelthe last arcane journal gives rules for things that will never have a model (ie warpgors)
>>96142511It's great that the brought back the old metals at launch. There was no way around it, they had to to give the armies big enough ranges to start. But beyond that, it won back a lot of goodwill from old Fantasy fans who had a chance to buy nostalgic minis again.
But it can't stay like that, TOW can't just be a nostalgic hobby project for elderly nerds. They need to start updating the old model ranges, and getting rid of the metals should be step 1.
>>96142559yeah that's what makes people in this thread pretending to be old grognards so obvious. People who actually played Fantasy wanted new stuff.
>>96143103Yeah, like it's great grabbing those models you had missed and were never going to pay "ebay OOP limited ed" prices for. Like for me the MTO stuff has been fun for my factions. That said, most of us would love some updated infantry, with so many factions still stuck on 6th ed plastic for core units.
>>96142804Bringing back Lizardmen as a core army is a bit awkward. They would have to squat or update most of the skink range from Seraphon, and even then it leaves Seraphon with much nicer models for the same basic concepts. Fucking nobody is going to be excited to see the old Saurus Warriors on Cold Ones kit come back, people talked about how ugly those Cold Ones were back when it was released!
They would be much better off taking a year off from adding new armies and do a quick whip around, give every core army something new. Let people know that their army will be supported going forward, we aren't getting another situation like Wood Elves not getting shit for 8 years.
>the game about selling old figures?
>replace them with shitty CAD kits!
>>96143153I dont think people realize just how much space new kits would have to take up too. People do want new stuff but there will always be people that want the old stuff, and thats going to cause a divide into the titles identity.
>>96143153Itโs not about selling old figures itโs about continuing fantasy. The new TK hero kits are a great move forward along with Cathay.
>>96143166It doesn't in 40k or AoS, I don't see why it would in TOW. It's not like GW is going to re do all the kits for every army in a couple years. It would be an extremely gradual process over a decade+. And the old models would still work for the game, it's not like people who love the metal Slayers would have to throw them away. All it would do is open the game up to (imo probably much larger) group of hobbyists who prefer and expect modern plastic kits.
>>96143210>It doesn't in 40k or AoS,Are you fucking retarded? Genuine fucking question. TOW taking its models back from aos made it an even more bare bones fucking setting, and 40k taking its finecast/forge world/firstborn models away are both crippling and ruining some armies entire identities. Im still fucking mad Grots lost their tanks.
>>96143202It is definitely about nostalgia and selling older figures.
If you waned the new "latest and greatest" fantasy sculpts you get AoS.
>>96143210>>96143229This isnโt the same old GW. Their release pace and production capacity is far higher than even a couple years ago. In the last 6 months we got what? Empire, High Elves, Wood Elves, Beastmen and Cathay? 5 armies released in 6 months? Blazing speed.

>>96143202>Itโs not about selling old figures itโs about continuing fantasy.buddy I have bad news for you
>>96143256No you donโt get AoS because thatโs not Fantasy thatโs AoS which is its own thing. People want Fantasy not whatever the fuck AoS is. Youโre retarded if you think the plan isnโt to update every range and replace all the old sculpts. They are continuing fantasy.
>>96143262Okay, you ARE retarded. Those were with pre-existing molds. They also couldnt even muster new models for some factions moving into the old world, and I wouldnt be surprised if tomb kings are getting the new hero's because they rushed the starter set out and decided not to include it in there with the dragon. Hell the maker for the said dragon said she herself was rushed and couldn't finish it a state that left her satisfied.
>>96142804>since GW absolutely SEETHES at rules for things without an official model.Hasn't like every AJ included units without an offical model? And some of the base armies do as well like forsaken?
>>96143263You tell him. I for one am glad they released the entire classic Cathay range. EBay prices were getting absurd.
>>96143143I get it from a purely pragmatic business position
>old sculpts that already paid for themselves >somebody will buy those older worse models simply because they prefer them >killing off skinks from AoS wouldnโt mean anything to them given they casually stole half the Ironjawz range with the old savage orcs they didnโt even replace or put back into production in old world. And the beast of chaos faction getting killed off >lines are distinct enough you can have your cake and eat it to with a little finagling
>>96143310Yes, and maybe down the road GW will close the loop but given with AJs upcoming are about making unique armies without a new release, its clear for now GW is letting people model outside the lines.
>>96143229>40k taking its finecast/forge world/firstborn models away are both crippling and ruining some armies entire identitiesThat's only Dark Eldar and Blood Angels. Dark Eldar will eventually get an update that puts them right, and people really upset about the new Blood Angels kits are just buying third party bits.
There's no division of identity, it's just one army that isn't getting the support it needs and a couple updated model kits people don't like.
>>96143166>People do want new stuff but there will always be people that want the old stuffWhat... do you mean?
100% of people who wanted the old models either had them already from the old days but wanted more to match, or wanted them back in the day but didn't have the means at the time.
I would guess less than 10% of purchasers came to the game with no trace of nostalgia guiding their purchases. Once that demand is satisfied who are these people that are "always gonna want the old stuff"?
I think the nostalgia buying is a huge problem for wargaming even beyond the scope of TOW's success or failure. Right now a bunch of the people that grew up with limited income or ability to buy 2000's models are getting into their best earning years. They're sustaining the industry and GW is benefiting massively. But I would speculate that new young players are fewer and farther between than ever before. GW can keep pivoting into a licensor of games, tv and movies but I think their games are gonna be on life support in 10-15 years
>>96143362Orks ate shit pretty hard losing access to their forge world and fine cast. Almost all the characters are gone, most heavier and midsized vehicles, no tanks, and they lost their mid sized walkers.
>>96143272Which is why we got the old chaos figures and not the new AoS sculpts.
>>96143362>ignores firstborn>ignores chaos>ignores 30k shit>ignores space marines>ignores space marines (yes this needed to be typed thrice, fuck you)>ignores agents>ignores orks, which become more apparent next edition >ignores tau (options are dead on suits and more) >ignores the loss of proper sisters cheesecake
>>96141264they fit perfectly comfortably on 30x60
basically you're stupid
>>96143378I miss the big trakk too but it really wasn't a big deal for the army identity unlike the RAPE of the dark eldar
>>96143383>people expecting forgeworld shit as mainline 40kAre people that retarded? Forgeworld was for people with more money than sense who wanted cool models, not mainline 40k stuff
Aa for old world, the one lesson is probbaly don't go all in on an AoI if you want support forever. Or be ready to pivot. Most miniature games experience variant spam into cuts.
>>96143285Dragon came with both a LP and Tom. king, so that explanation makes no sense
>>96143256It was about that originally but TOW is selling so well they changed the focus
>>96143367There are a LOT of 20 somethings getting memed into playing primaris, 15 year olds reading a white dwarf and getting a life long brain worm is a thing of the past, but 22 year old low iq dudes working at a pet store watching arch warhammer and going "bro that's so cool" is very much in.
>>96143378>>96143383Forgeworld stuff was never actually a major part of Ork identity, and they're going to be a launch faction next edition so they'll have tons of new plastic kits and characters and Ork players will be happy
Nobody actually gives a shit about Primaris replacing Firstborn anymore
Cutting out the 30k units was a dick move but they never should have been added to 40k in the first place, and they were only there for like 8 months so it's far from an identity crisis.
I don't even know what your point about Imperial Agents is. The problem with them is they are lacking options, but the army hasn't existed since Daemonhunters like 15 years ago so I'm not sure how you can talk about a crisis of identity, they didn't even have one.
The way GW handles wargear now is fucking stupid, but once again it hasn't caused any kind of division of identity in Tau or any other army. It's just an annoying thing.
You are right that the new Sisters models aren't horny enough tho. I'll give you that
>>96143423Always surprised when there's some meme list in a supplement like "make your whole army this weird specific unit" or whatever and are surprised when it becomes illegal some day. Like yea. Duh. Those lists are for people who already have a full normal army and want to expand their collection in a fun way.
I do hope road wardens and the like don't get the squat hammer though, hopefully old world won't get aggresive edition churn
>>96143424>It was about that originally but TOW is selling so well they changed the focusOriginally they were planning lots of new stuff, remember that the first news about TOW was about Kislev.
I'm not sure what happened. Maybe they got cold feet and decided they wanted TOW to prove it was viable before they invested in a full new army. Maybe they got scared about releasing a Russia-themed army while the war is going on. But either way, the plan with TOW was never just to sell old models.
>>96143383I need to find a source for evil space nun cheesecake, the RH ones are too nice.
>>96143455Yeah, there's a Q&A with the TOW team from May 2023 where they talked about bringing back all the armies, so it was definitely a late decision. Went from full scope, rescued scope, now back to decent scope.
>>96143438It wasnโt just forge world the orks lost they lost a lot of named and generic character options that are regular GW minis.
The FW loses also ended up eating a lot of units that were the only option for certain roles.
Also advertising a detachment as the grot vehicle and walkers detachment and talking all the grot vehicles and only walkers of their size in the army was pretty dumb
>>96143455I'd like to believe they made the initial Kislev concepts, took a step back, then realised their conception of the faction was shit and so stopped until they figured out how to do better.
Cathay LOOKS great, the only problems are a nascent tendency towards giant-centrepiece-model-syndrome and their CCCP approved lore.
The concepts of Kislev models I saw looked like shit, and when combined with the potential for similarly giant-centrepiece-model-syndrome and cucked out lore they would have been a failure as an army.
But most likely, they saw that Cathay was a better investment: Chinese money is assured and Kislev can be developed later if they feel there's a need for more faction diversity.
>>96143478I think they weren't allowed to bring back all armies because aos trannies threw a fit
>GW hates options and kitbashing so much they gutted AoS, MESBG, HH, and 40K
Wonder how long we have until GW starts crying tears of blood over not using their arms when kitbashing figures.
>>96143497I assume TOW getting green lit and the desire to have everything probably scared the shit out of the AoS team in that they didnโt genuinely have a plan for if they started losing that many sculpts and factions since that would genuine fuck that system.
>have the fantasy ranger dropped on your lap >do nothing for almost a decade beyond release stormcast and ignore the other factions >me am support game good >TOW gets announced >oh fuck >oh shit >no you canโt have dark elves I need those to fill gaps we have had a decade to fix >no you canโt have ogres I havenโt done anything with that range to replace those sculpts >no I need my vampires to doโฆ.something>no you canโt have skaven Iโm busy not updating them >no you canโt have Lizardmen Iโve got something cooking I promise>also I need chaos dwarfs we never acknowledge beyond a warband now >beastmen? Yeah sure fuck it take them. People didnโt even buy them when we made them a meta army
>>96143560Didn't the Skaven and Lizardmen ranges just get updated a year or two ago?
>>96143560I don't think that's fair, AoS introduced Lumineth, Idoneth, Nighthaunt, Bonereapers, and Hedonites in the first two editions. Not to mention the big updates to Gloomspite, Soulblight, and StD. That's a lot of stuff in two editions.
>>96143593He's probably talking about the moment tow was announced.
>>96143497In hindsight it feels like this might have been what the inter-studio scuffle was about.
The Age of Sigmar bums, understanding that their game and lore was bad (except for what came from WHFB) and never sold amazingly, got worried that TOW would overshadow them.
Then the fuss they kicked up caused the whole "no model shall cross games" bullshit.
However, there were also rumours that the main studio at one point wanted to wrest control of TOW away from SDS.
>>96143529Which is why I specified the when.
>>96143594Iโm talking within terms of the old fantasy ranges.
Most of those kind of just got left sitting around as lazy filler units for other armies.
Empire, dark elves, high elfโs, and dwarfs had been playing the part of OC donut steal factions for cities of sigmar to no really meaningful updates or replacements until the team was pretty much forced to do something with them.
Before old world was announced pretty much only night goblins got any meaningful attention. And weirdly enough got to exist in both settings and every picked up some AoS kit with the modern squig riders.
>>96143639Cities of Sigmar was originally just a bone thrown to try to get the grumpy grognards who didn't want to buy new models to at least try the new game (it worked on me, just to pass the time I joined a Sigmar league at my LGS with my old Empire models on round adapters).
But then the writing team ended up making the founding and building of Sigmar-worshipping cities the biggest deal in the lore. And with TOW coming, it was time to make people who wanted to play the "totally not the Empire" faction in Sigmar, they'd have to buy a bunch of new models.
But only human models as they just couldn't be arsed to come up with new Cities-friendly Dorfs, Dakr Elfs, or Wood Elfs.
Well I got a 1500pt game tomorrow, vs either cult of pleasure (ported to TOW) or daemons of chaos (slaanesh/nurgle mostly). I usually get my ass whooped as woodies especially past 1k but am hoping to put up a show. Any thoughts on the list? For reference I have a warhawk mage, 20 eternal guard, foothero, and more dyrads gladeguard and riders if a swap is needed. Thoughts?

>>96144145you might be right, I havent used tree spirits much. the idea is to be roadblocks for the glade/scouts to fire and flee through or side chargers, while being tanky enough to survive a round of combat (thanks to stubborn) but i could be wrong. Afternoon lads,
Arcane Journal The War of Settra's Fury must be up for preorder soon, because I've just spent the last hour looking at an influencer copy.
Frontier Clash: Rules for 500 point games, intended for people new to the game or staring new armies. Points caps of 125/175/150/125 on characters/core/special/rare, and less vps awarded for generals and standards. Three special scenarios, though says you can use any with a smaller board. One scenario is a wagon escort.
Huge narrative section on Settra's invasion, which I didn't have time to read plus three narrative scenarios against each of the new AoIs for him. TK don't get an AoI of their own, and Settra leads the royal host in each of the scenarios. All they get is new mount options for characters: barded steeds that don't lose swiftstride, vanguard or movement, and gain first charge and give the unit they've joined counter charge, and necroserpents, and incantations, which are like souped up spells that you pay points for and can only successfully cast once.
There are no special characters in the book. No new models spotted apart from the plastic TK guys. None of the AoIs are ridiculous Heroquest Fimir either, which makes me sad.
First AoI is the Savage Waaagh! Like I said, I didn't have a chance to read the background section, but the first scenario is Settra breaking through a horde of these guys played lengthways after they've been lured in as a roadblock by a confederation of Border Princes. It's a fairly basic list, but I'm sure Savage Orc fans/people who had Bonesplitterz armies will love it.
It is... exactly what it sounds like, I guess Bonesplitterz are back in Fantasy. All chariots, characters and giants must lose their armour and gain frenzy and warpaint for 5 points. Shamans who join units boost the warpaint ward to 5+. Headhunterz rule gives +25 vp for every enemy character or monster killed by orcs, but not gobbos, mounts or anything else. Snotlings gain frenzy if they're near orcs who haven't lost theirs, which is cute.
Characters:
0-1 Warboss or Weirdnob per 1k
Big bosses and Weirdboyz
Gobbo bosses and shamans, who must be mounted on gigantic spider, arachnaroks or giant spiders (new option)
Core:
Savage Orc Mob, new unit entry, as you'd expect, 0-1 Big Unz per 1k, warpaint, frenzy, open order, regimental unit, 6 points naked
Savage Orc Boar Boy Mob, same as the footsloggers, minus regimental unit
Spider Riders
Snotlings
Special:
Chariots
Trolls
1 Riderless Arachnarok for each gobbo shaman. Can also be taken as mounts for savage orc bosses
Spidersilk lobbas, cheap, weak stone throwers
Big stabbas: 3+ models 2 wounds, skirmish, D3 impact hits a piece, detachment, 12 points
Rare:
33%
Giants
Arachnaroks
Bonesplitter Giant (see the orc AJ)
>>96145093I guess they couldn't call it Border Patrol anymore
Next is the Slayer Cult. The fluff for these guys seems centred on the Priests of Grimnir and Slayer Pirates from Barak Varr, not Ungrim, which makes sense as Karak Kadrin is further north than where this book is set. Ungrim is included in the list though.
Slayer axes are back and not just for the Slayer Cult! All slayers apart from slayer pirates and doomseekers and slayer characters can now choose to fight with ahws or a great weapon, and get the benefits of any runes they have with both. If they have the gromril weapons special rule, they get the -1 AP with ahws.
Army wide special rule that lets models deathblowing against attacks caused by monsters or characters strike back with all their attacks and the rules for any weapon they're using. Ouch!
0-1 slayer unit per 1k can be given scouts or ambush.
Characters:
Ungrim
Dragon and Daemon Slayers
Kraken Slayers: basically Dragon Slayers for slayer pirates. Can be given a handgun so gets handgun runes
Priests of Grimnir: Runesmith stats more or less, they come with a list of prayers that can be cast like the Sigmar and Ulric ones, though a lot easier because they've got LD10. One of the prayers gives a slayer unit D3+1 move and is done in the command phase, before charging. They suggest converting a model from slayer and runesmith bits for these, but I reckon they're intended to use the Fyreslayer priest minis. Can also be taken in a Royal Clan lead by Ungrim.
Core:
1+ Slayers
Barak Varr Slayer Pirates: They're really leaning into the geography here. These lads are amazing: 12 points, open order or skirmish, brace of pistols that they can use properly in combat. Do not have the slayer special rule to always wound on a 4+. Can be taken as mercenaries in regular dorfs, engineer's guild, Empire or Cathay
0-1 dorf warriors per 1k
Special:
Warriors, Quarrellers, Thunderers
0-3 per 1k of the following: Goblin Hewers, Slayer Pirate Cannon: just a cannon with slayer pirate crew, Slayer Pirate Harpoon: a bolt thrower with 24" range, that if it hits and wounds a monster pulls it D3 closer!
Rare:
Doomseekers
The Brotherhood of Grimnir: Bodyguards of the priests. These guys wear heavy armour, and are basically slayer hammerers with MR3! Unbreakable like the rest of the list, 2 attacks a piece, and can be given great weapons or shields (no slayer axes). Can be taken in Ungrim's Royal Clan
Mercenaries:
Pikemen, Freelancers and sellswords from the Border Prince list
>>96145101>>96145111there are written exactly like the previous inaccurate "leaks"
Last up, and the one bound to get the most buzz, Border Princes. This AoI is not listed as belonging to any Grand Army, but the traits you pick for your Border Prince can let them count as one for the purpose of allies (they can't take allies, so I'd imagine this is for being used as allies?) and more importantly, access to mercenaries and magic item lists.
The basic list is incredibly bare bones, but fills out based on the traits you are able to give your Border Prince. The traits are bit like the old Imperial Guard doctrines and very 'your dudes', but will probably also be a powergamer's delight.
Like the savage orcs and slayers, a lot of stuff refers to previous Arcane Journals, and I fear this list might need 5+ books to play!
The only other army special rule apart from traits is 'Melting Pot', allowing non mercenary characters to freely join mercenary units and vice versa, and for mercenaries to benefit from Inspiring Presence and the BSB.
>>96145101>Bonesplitterz are back in FantasyDa savage boyz, home.
The 7 traits are:
Exile Knight: Border Prince gains the exile's vow and the option to ride a Bret warhorse and pick a virtue, the entire army gains access to the Bretonnian Exiles magic item list. Several Bretonnian units added, all knightly ones must be given the Exile's Vow. Gets all mercenaries available to a Bret Grand Army
Imperial Asset: Entire army gains access to Empire magic item list. Lots of Imp units added. Gets all mercenaries available to an Imp grand army
Dwarf Friend: The Border Prince, and just the Border Prince can take runic items. A few dorf units added. Gets all dorf grand army mercenaries
Merchant Lord: Entire army gains access to the HE and Cathay magic item lists and the mercenaries who would work for them.
Looter: Same as the last one but with Orc and Gobbo and TK magic items and mercenary lists. There are probably some really broken combos here. +25 vps for standards personally captured by your prince or his unit. Tomb Kings characters hate your Border Prince, which is characterful and fun.
Mercenary Paymaster: All mercenary units become core, but every model in your army gains the misbehaving mercenary special rule. Can't be combined with the bret, dwarf or VC traits.
Something of the Night: I saved the best till last. This one is great, and the flavour text and rules heavily hint without saying that it's a backdoor for VC. For an extra 70 points, your Border Prince gets +2M, +1 WS, S, T, A, I, and fear, and can be bought up to two levels of lore of Necromancy. Can't be combined with the dorf, bret, Empire or mercenary traits
Core:
Pikemen! They're back baby! Models shown are the old DoW metals with I think a new command group. Thrusting spears that fight in 4 ranks, and the option to buy heavy armour and crossbows for the front rank. Maybe a little expensive at 9 points. Tilea referenced in the flavour text.
Sellswords: Basic profile human infantry with options to buy heavy armour, ahws, crossbows and shields. Have access to drilled and veteran.
Freelance Knights: empire knights who lose access to drilled and stubborn but gain a load of weapon options. Feel like these and the sellswords are designed to use the CoS kits as. All 3 of these units are mercs who can be taken by anyone which is nice.
If Exile knight, KotR mounted and foot, men at arms, bowmen
If imp asset: state troops, vet state troops, missile state troops, archers
If dorf friend: 0-1 warriors per 1k
Special:
Demi-lancers: Very customisable light cav unit
Border Prince Brigands: See Bret exiles
If exile knight: mounted yeomen, squires
If imp asset: Outriders, Greatswords, 0-2 great cannon or mortars perk 1k
If dorf friend: 0-2 cannons, bolt throwers or grudge throwers per 1k, 0-2 gyrocopters, 0-1 slayers, 0-1 Longbeards
Rare:
Border Prince Bombards (see Bret exiles)
If exile knight: 0-1 trebuchet per 1k
If imp asset: 0-1 hellblaster or firestorm per 1k, war wagons
If dorf friend: 0-1 rangers or miners
Mercenaries:
25%, what you get based on your prince's traits

>>96139607 (OP)>>Thread Question:>Which part of the Warhammer fantasy world interests you most?Sometimes is its worst part: how it would end
I find myself attempting to find the most interesting and fitting ways to tie loose ends in hypothetical end times scenarios, and I think I've just decided that since the fate of the ogres and halflings should be somewhat connected but the ogres are flawed and unfinished, it would be greatly ironic and entertaining if the halflings ended up "fixing" them with 2 quests at the opposite ends of the maw, one to throw something in it, one to fish something out of it

But you didn't hear it from me. ; )
>>96147654So, the version I saw of Border Princes is an old one, and so I know that more stuff got added to it. Also recently I heard that they had added more units to the BP roster, just no specifics. Some of this is new (that doesn't mean it's false), but for the most part it lines up with what I know was in the book back in the day, with minor changes if anything. I don't want to call them 100% true until I get independent confirmation; however, I think they are relatively close to the truth if they aren't 100% the real deal
So the BP leaks might actually be legit-ish???

>>96148644Looks cool, immediately sticking out I'd have Fimir on 50x50 rather than 40x40, and I think it's kinda weird having Fimir Noble's being in charge of Balefiends, as in universe the latter are in charge. >>96148644I like that you're trying to expand it but I do think that expanding it more than it is kinda takes away from some of the charm of the list, and yea as other anon said the Fimir Noble/Balefiend thing is a bit weird and just sort of a symptom of this.
>>96148722>I'd have Fimir on 50x50 rather than 40x40I was toying with the idea already so I'm glad you said so
> I think it's kinda weird having Fimir Noble's being in charge of BalefiendsYou're totally right, in fact with how it is at the minute the noble can never be the BSB, I think I'm just going to drop them both to Ld8 so that the Sorcerer lord can be the general
>>96148748>I like that you're trying to expand it but I do think that expanding it more than it is kinda takes away from some of the charm of the listYeah I think I agree, I think Ogres are a fine addition as there was an expansion to the OG heroquest focused on Ogres, and the additional hero options are kind of a requirement to give the list a bit more variety when it comes to characters but the Wolf Rats and definitly the Chaos Trolls go too far (the chaos trolls were a last minute addition because I like the models and wanted an excuse to buy them)
>>96148777>the additional hero options are kind of a requirement to give the list a bit more variety when it comes to charactersObviously it's your call, but personally I think the lack of diversity in the hero options kind of adds to the heavy themeing of the army. At the very least I'd say only Fimir Nobles can be BSB, and really I'd get rid of the greenskin wizards and Aspiring Champions. It fits the idea of an evil wizard gathering together these various monstrous races under them.

>heavy themeing of the armyI kind of like the idea of them being sub-mooks that the head honcho recruited to get their individual mobs in line, plus heroquest had a bunch of Boss versions of all the standard monsters which included spell caster bosses, so I think I'm going to stand my ground on this one
>>96148807forgot to add Tomb Guard
It was on purpose, in my head the army kind of works as a more generic westerland swamp army, Skeleton Warriors could reasonably be european skeleton warriors whereas Tomb Gaurds I feel are just too tied to Tomb Kings, I also think that the mummy = tomb guard link is a bit of a stretch. I think I would rather add a Bog Mummy unit like the Marsh Zombies
It's a real shame that war for the westerland leak wasn't real becuase the story itself sounds pretty kino.

>>96148918Ah I see, though doesn't the Chaos Sorceror with Necromancy already basically fill that niche?
>>96148934Somewhat but Mortuary Priests have access to From Beneath the Sands which I think is a really interesting mechanic for the army when it can give skeletons and zombies ambush, I also think it's a good thematic way to represent the undead bursting from the swamp

In the rules of TOW, you can already run a mostly Savage Orc list by giving your units War Paint options in the Grand Army list you don't need a brand new AoI to validate your Savage Orc army.
The DoW stuff sounds cool but it's a lot of stuff for the good factions as well as an AoI for a good factions, and then the next AJ is another AoI for a good faction too, it's a shame that the savage orc AoI isn't real (even though it's kind of a waste, what do you actually get that you can't do in GA, giant spider mounts (cool tbf), riderless arachnaroks (sounds bad) unmounted spidersilk lobbas (might actually be good tbf) and detachment big stikkas (they already exist in the unit for GA), like I just don't get it) because that would at least balance out the good/bad content somewhat, then again we don't know the third AoI so it might be something Chaos or beastmen since we know it's not TK, TK getting a few extra bits maybe balances out the good/bad content somewhat but eh, it's niche
I think orc heroes should have access to winged pigs as a mount
they could be called pigasi

>>96148644Hey anon, I'm the anon that did the dumb Heroquest list and this is amazing!
I was excited about the upcoming Dogs of War rumours (that turned out to be Border Princes) and wanted to come up with something mad but not completely implausible to tease info out of the actual leakers. I guessed the Jade Fleet book would be coming first, needed something for them to fight, and Fimir have already been mentioned in the WoC AJ, so I wrote an army around them. There's not a lot of background concerning them that isn't rape memes, so I did a Heroquest list to see if anyone got it.

Night at the Museum Tomb Guard! They were a last second addition before I hit post when I suddenly realised there was no Heroquest mummy rep, and had to come up with a suitable reason for them to be in Marienburg, but they're the part of the list people seem most taken with/amused by.
Seriously flattered that you've gone to this much effort on account of my daft trolling, well done and thank you!
Orcs and Goblin players never fall for leaks because we are already self fulfilled.

But the NotM TK is a more Fun justification.
>>96149964I didn't realise they were a thing? Is that from WFRP 4E?
>>96150025Yeah, it's from the Steam Tank Adventur,e The Emperor's Wrath.
>>96149079> He had a CORE of information Yeah, LIKE THE FUCKING PREVIEW SHOW.
How fucking stupid are you people?
It's all bullshit from one literally mental ill poster. When have we EVER seen multi post, detailed leaks like the shit from prior to the preview show? Never. The fucking queer was proven COMPLETELY false at the preview show, he comes back with the EXACT same style, and you STILL think his schizo rambling is believable?
>>96148834Lmao it will never be painted so who gives a fuck?
Just another unpainted hunk of resin to add to the pile, might see a table once (doubtful)
>>96148554The UK is just a third world country at this point
>>96149964Maddie's me wonder if I could find enough bog mummy miniatures to make an army.
FUCK I can't decide between Tomb Kings and Orcs. My first army as a kid was VC so I love skeletons but I love a lot of the old orc/goblin sculpts.
>>96150633Let the universe decide. Check eBay and other second hand places to see what is available.
>>96150633If it sways you at all tomb kings have an extremely good box rn
>>96150633get a printer to get both
>>96150633Orcs are really fun, but they are also a weird mix of low detail, but also surprisingly detailed minis. So you will whiplash back and forth in having a lot of stuff to do and then really really flat boring batch painting.
>>96149899Literally all I want are old characters back in production.
Brought my 1500pts of wood elves, got tabled turn 3. Vs cult of pleasure, he had 2 sorceresses, 20 anointed, 20 chaos warriors with a aspiring champion, 2 repeater bolt throwers and 3 spawn. All with plenty of mark of slaanesh. Some thoughts:
>took the dyrads in a blob like anon suggested, seemed fine. Good shout.
>I'm so fucking tired of magic missiles. Just tired. Ruby ring, demonology signature just anhhilating my elves. Deepwood scouts, glade riders go poof. What's the point of skirmish, over half range, cover when some dickhead with a ring ignores all of it? Shit should roll to hit.
>11 dyrads, 10 wardancers, staglord, shadowdancer, 5 wild riders charged/flanked the chaos warriors and my elves took 15 wounds and only did 8. Would have been funny if he didn't have spawn and super cheap anointed to run down everything else. I guess I should just ignore a 3rd of the game and run pure shooting?
>the 5 glade riders at least had fun before being bolt throwered. They didn't do much but shoot n scoot is cool.
>oaken stave was cool, to bad he had some staff that did the same thing but offensively but miscast if 2x ones.. And could reroll a 1 so yeah.
Ngl boys was a miserable time. I don't know if it's the Frankenstein cult of pleasure just having too much good options, my subpar wood elf list, or a bad matchup and day but especially the magic missiles are killing my fun. Might have to break from the tree huggers for a while it's been a long 3-12 road for them this season.
>>96150818T3 low armor elves are going to get messed up by magic missiles. If you pay again make sure to lean into some good anti-magic.
>>96150846I mean other than the oaken staff what else is there? Ariels favor and lodestone? I guess high magic but a 10 is hard to hit all the time even with a lvl3. Or am I missing some other defense?
>>96150818Do Wood Elves have any MR items?
>>961509131 hero can take ariels favor for 30pts, for MR2; otherwise the oaken staff is great (+3dispel range, extra d6 drop lowest on dispel). It didn't help he had some dark elf staff that did the same for casting, otherwise oaken staff is pretty nice. Then some of the overpriced "enemy wizard takes some hits" items are it sans lodestones.
>>96147654How do we know javgoro is legit? Does he actually have any accurate predictions? The guy keeps saying basic shit with "uhh haha well I don't want to say anything yet just to be on the safe side" afterward
and then when the actual GW streams and community articles reveal something he suddenly starts acting like he predicted all of it when he didn't say shit besides "well I didn't want to say more about it haha". How do we know he's not just attentionfagging? Is he trying to get hired by GW or something why the fuck does he care so much about hiding info?
>>96150974Sounds like you might have just gotten unlucky. Usually that's enough to shut down a lot of casting. Or at least fuck with Ruby Ring
>>96151174He's a discord mod. He's 100% attention fagging.
>>96151197I certainly have been burned a good deal which is probably a combo of wood elves favoring smaller units and being protected by nothing making magic missiles hurt that harder when they get through but honestly casting doesn't seem too hard even after faq, just not guaranteed.
But some of the frustration is probbaly just tired of everyone bringing 2 to 3 sources of magic missiles every game vs me. I need to break from woodies I think for a while until my Thorn recasts come in. I'll try and paint some more in the meanwhile.
>>96151174He posts a bunch of stuff too specific be guess work that turns out to be true months in advance (High Elves having a White Lion AoI, the entire Beastman spell lore), but also gets a reasonable amount of stuff wrong (Tyrion and Teclis being in the HE AJ, Fimir being the BoC one), and then backpeddles saything that plans have changed. He's recently cited having to confer with 'sources' when confirming the latest Settra AJ stuff, before saying it adds up with older versions and more's been added.
My money's on him being a friend of a playtester or even someone in the design studio who originally posted a few things he'd seen/been told for fun, and is now enjoying the e-fame and has become incredibly cautious about what he posts so as not to get derided as a fake, while also getting off on teasing people.
My only question, and I guess it goes to all leakers, is if you have genuine information gained via a friend, or even acquaintance, why would you risk that person's job for internet points?
>>96151280My guess is he gets one way or another good info and then internal decisions by GW either validate, slightly set back, or completely fuck it up.
Old world is a odd system for GW as 99% of the world on all but one of the ranges has been done for decades now so planning I sent nearly as important to her right and keep consistent.
40K or AoS the teams canโt decide one week they really want to do dark mechanicum and some new demons faction and the next say actually fuck that letโs just make more marines. Meanwhile in old world itโs pretty easy for them to decide one one AoI one week change the next and then start thinking about rereleasing some old molds the work is long done on.
>>96148373My orcs and goblins are generically living there best lives out in the badlands, my chaos warriors are fleet based nurgle guys but I have them based like they are in the northern wastes, my ogres are generically fucking around in the mountains, and my skaven are out in a frozen swamp near troll country
>>96151174>>96151216>"I don't want to share too much at this stage">literally 1 day later the post about the new books drop in here>suddenly he is okay with confirming everything he knows about the journal in the discordwhat the fuck was this about? why doesn't he just give the info instead of doing this "redacted" larp shit? that itself makes him sound less reliable, like he's doing some cold reading vague shit and only actually acting like he knew all along when actual info not from him is posted around
>>96151273It's a sign to start Tomb Kings and be the danger.
