Commander is the end of Magic. No other TCG can compete with commander's popularity, and commanderfags have already proven they will accept whatever slop WotC injects into the game. Every decision WotC makes about the game is to appease commander players, and it is ALWAYS to the detriment of non-commander formats. Some busted ass shit that was designed around there being 4+ players? Its now rotated Legacy (again). Unsets being made black-bordered? They need to be so I can run my heckin attractions deck in my pod. 50% of the rares in a Standard set being build-around Legends that suck complete cock outside of commander? Commander. LD/MLD/Mana denial no longer viable strategies? Commander players find them unfun. UB is also because of Commander, when WotC realized they could ride the EDH gravytrain and turn every popular character from any IP into a commander.

I miss when Legends were only legends because their effect was too good to be copyable. Now there is like a minimum design space for heckin new commandarinos every set, and they are all devoid of personality

either fix that or fix the tiny, busy, badly lit, AI art slop, where every single "legend" in every single plane is basically just ... the same BRAVE/POWERFUL mulatto chick in full body armor and a quirky mount/weapon (aka another 2/3 human do thing draw card).

If you spread out 100 art cards you can't tell the difference between the actual characters cuz there is no character design.

Even the shittiest vanilla Legends were "legendary" at least in art.

The reason it got like this is because the vast majority of MtG players don't actually care that much about MtG.
For the vast majority a side hobby and so don't give a shit or openly like stuff like things because its Thing I Like + Thing I'm Kinda Into.
This is all on Wizards complete failure over the years to cultivate a large enough hardcore fanbase outside of the completive scene which by its nature cares less about what's depicted on the cards than what they do.

Are they though, sure Final Fantasy sold amazingly but it fit the aesthetic better than half the recent in universe sets, I don't think people are overall happy about crossover stuff moving to being normal sets they just made an exception for one crossover and maybe also avatar

MTG is best when it's unblanced, interactive, punishing of suboptimal decks or decisions, and has a restricted (not always low) power level. Commander players hate all those things. They want to be able to do their weird little thing as part of a social game where everyone builds their "creative" "fun" deck and shows it off.
