I am so glad I stopped playing this gay ass game. I liked Ixalan as much as the next guy, but when they did the jurassic park cross over I knew it would only go downhill from there. now this game is just going to become a repository of whatever pop culture swill is hyped up at the moment, and there's no going back

it's honestly poetic, like an aeschylean tragedy. They spent decades building up internal lore, they spent all that time and effort trying to create a "feel" that their game hit - and now it's all just being hollowed out, so these major franchises can take them for a ride

it's like the girl from a small town, who spends all her time studying and avoiding gossip, drugs, parties. she stays single, never even dates, goes to college and gets straight As - and then her senior year she just becomes a party animal and let's the football team and every frat on campus run trains on her

honestly it's ok to stop playing. I see how you people talk about it, all you do is complain. I really can't believe that anybody even likes this game, except for the e-thots and onions-facers who hype up every new set like "omg guys this is going to finally make this game goood!!!11!!" No. No it's not. this game will never be good, and really it never was good. if you look past the nostalgia and remember all the time it was unfun and you lost money you'll realize that it was a mirage, bright colors and flashy, glamorous hype trains just trying to get you to pay for a stack of cardboard that would be worth less than a nickel in one years time

I mean think about it. a pack of cards. fifteen slips of paper. before they're opened, they cost 5, 10 bucks. the simple act of tearing the plastic - of removing the ambiguity - renders them worthless 95% of the time. Yet you'll just show up and shell out multiple times a year.

join me. reject magic. return to society.

Nobody was asking for a reprint of pic related yet they reprinted it in FOIL barely a year after its release basically giving anyone who paid full price for it a middle finger

I quit playing during original Ixalan, even then 8 years ago the writing was on the wall in regards to art direction, game balance, the importance of commander, etc.
It was also then that I realized that WotC no longer cared about players' collections retaining some value, they'll just reprint whatever they want and powercreep the rest

The Final Fantasy collaboration earned Hasbro $200 million in one day. There's no going back.
Except there IS going back. You can build a cube. You can even curate the past, make it better than you remember. Love Lorwyn? You don't need Oko this time. Don't like drafting? Jumpstart cubes.

this is literally based as fuck though
fuck your collection value. this is a card game, if you thought speculating on cardboard was a good idea that's on you.

Final Fantasy is a great franchise that features beautiful women. It also brought us catgirl cards.

If there's one lesson Hasbro takes from this, I hope it's Tifa's tits are the most powerful force in this universe.

I remember talking with a modern player about 10 years ago. While his deck cost nearly 20x the cost of my rogue standard deck, his would at least hold most of its value while mine would become worthless as soon as rotation happened. Hell, he even laughed at me like I was an idiot for getting the foil version of my deck's key card (back when foils mattered and commanded a premium price).
Now it's like every format is standard, you expect your cards to see their value obliterated through reprints and powecreep. Nobody is laughing, except maybe reserved list people.

maybe 15 years ago. that game is trash powercreep with every card having 5 effects now. while you are waiting for your opponent to end their turn you can cook a 3 course meal and make coffee and take your dog out on a walk. it is absolute horrible. best times were when it was summon one monster, play one card in the backrow and pass turn.

I just find it funny to see you asses seething over Final Fantasy. FF had way more cards that directly fit into MtG, if you didn't knew they were from a different franchise, than most other crossovers, and even newer original sets. I'd rather play a FF themed cube than deal with shit in cards like dr who, marvelslop, spongebob memes, the italian mafia, cowboys, cyberpunk "japan", not!hogwarts, akira motorcycle slide, indians, 80s horror movies, raceswapped LotR, or most of the game after RtR (theros is excused, theros is based AF and has fun mechanics).
FF is legal in standard, deal with it, its cards are better for the overall game health than other standard legal cards. FF7, 8, 13 and 15 may look out of place but even they look more fitting than dr fucking who or kamigawa neon femboys, and you retards buying this shit caused this.
