▶What is Kingdom Death?
Kingdom Death is a tabletop minture brand stared by Adam Poots and operated by himself and his Team that later spun off into a miniature based bored game funded by two very successful kickstarter campaigns.

▶What is Kingdom Death: Monster?
Monster is a Nightmare Horror cooperative boss battler/miniature hobby game for 1-4 players about hope in a strange world of bizarre monstrosities and perpetually darkness. Players take on the role of survivors that band together to form a settlement, fighting monsters, crafting weapons and gear, and developing their civilization to ensure survival from generation to generation.

The Game is broken up into 3 phases:
1. During your Hunt Phase your band of survivors traverse the world of KD in pursuit of their quarry.
2. After successfully tracking your quarry you will begin the Showdown Phase, where you must fell these horrific creatures in order to acquire precious resources.
3. After the battle, your survivors wander home with loot in hand to begin the Settlement Phase. Arm yourself by developing new weapons and bizarre structures to prepare for next year's hunt.

A successful game campaign takes place over the course of 25 to 30 'lantern years' maximum, marked by completing one full phase cycle. Watch as your settlement grows and witness the survivors write their own narrative as they age. Hone your strategy and learn from your mistakes to overcome the immense odds in this cruel and twisted nightmare scape.

Basically, during 1.5 kickstarter, back when /tg/ was still capable of liking things unironically. There was quite a bit of hype for the project here, daily threads and stuff, to the point even Poots himself noticed and wanted to acknowledge us in some way. Attentionwhoring Tripfag known at the time as "Ekoi" smelled an opportunity and presented himself as "ambassador" of sorts speaking on behalf of /tg/, that's why "our" Wanderer isn't generic "Anon", but Ekoi's personal self-insert.
Also, he's trans. Which we either didn't know at the time, or didn't notice as big enough red flag to renounce him. Look up (posts by) that name on 4plebs if you care to know the full story.

The rules are convoluted and losing a single card means balance is now forever out the window.
You never have any options besides "I move into the blind spot and attack".
It's a four player game that quickly degenerates into one player dictating what to do to everyone else.
It just takes too fucking long.

Besides that though, I find the figures ugly. The grotesque ones and the coomer ones. They are all equally juvenile, but you also can't play the game without them. You know why D&D works? Because all you need is a single $30 book to play it.

The rules are not convoluted, but I won't even go into providing examples as to why, when you're the kind of tard that manages to lose cards in your own fucking household, as no matter what anything that's not fucking 5E will be too complex for you.
The game actually has far more options than "move into the blind spot and attack" (besides the fact that a lot of monsters punishes that). You can build various teams with various strategies, there's plenty of items that allow that on top of having different proficiencies for different weapon types and that's before going into philosophy system introduced in GCE.

I never had that, but seeing you I can see why some poor soul had to throw team work or allowing everyone to have fun at the table and hand-holding you through the fucking game, as again, you are retarded. Hell that might even be why all you know is to move into blindspot and attack as you were probably so fucking incapeable of doing anything on your own that wouldn't fuck it up to everyone else that you got delegated to fuck off to blindspot, where you wouldn't get targeted by the monster and wouldn't have to interract with game systems and just hit shit with increased accuracy instead to still feel like you did your part.

A single session takes 1-2 hours, if you're new 1.5-3 hours depending how many people are playing and how long they spend deciding on what to do and how to do it (resources, crafting, innovating, stategising). I am actually upset that I ordered this now, not because of the genderswap but because this entire fucking Wanderer is just based on Aeneas being a fat fuck.
EVERY MECHANIC is "Aeneas eats all of your supplies, maybe something good happens". Which just makes this a fucker you probably don't want to include in your game because this will only make the game harder the majority of the time.

Also, if you expected the very prominently displayed genderswap belt to matter in any way, it literally never gets mentioned (like, one line in an event result mentions offhand that Aeneas was a boy as a child and thats the only reference we have) and the Wanderer doesn't even come with a copy of the Genderswap Belt in its gear, when you think that it being forced to take up a slot on its board would be a flavorful restriction. "can't wear chest armor, belt goes there".

The Hyperlight Drifter wanderer is pretty cool, though. I like that one.

I couldn't get in to any events at gen con since I was on mobile when the tickets went live. Anyone play Pariah or Red Witches? How are they? I abstained from getting them since I'm still waiting on Campaigns of Death and Silver City. Saw the models for them at least so maybe next year.

Release schedule since the gambler's chest feels like a phoenix time loop of before gamblers chest. Pick up the fucking pace Poots.

escalating showdowns (you fight Braal, then Braal and Nico and finally all three sisters).
Each one feels unique, but they work with each other.
Braal showing up to your settlement will trigger a timer of 5 minutes for your settlement phase after which the showdown starts automatically, no matter if you're prepared or not
The interactions with Pariah are minimal, but flavorful. Interaction with Fade is extremely disappointing and kinda negative.

Drifter comes with a lot of abilities, and I like that his knowledge is branching, so you only ever get one of the capstones per playthrough (if I understand the rules correctly).

Appreciate the use of the Hyperlight Drifter alphabet.

If I had any complaints, it's that there's not a lot of narrative meat on the bones of his wanderer book, but the art tells a nice story.

Last pages here. Seems like a fun addition, and a nice power spike character to push you through the mid game. Dashing twice is probably situational at best? But it does let you stick to the monster basically no matter what, and can really mess with some monster targeting.

I wish this game had a jaws of the lion type of offering. You know a complete condensed version. No extra purchases just a one box product with less content, almost no plastic but that keeps everything good about the game without making it a huge investment of time and money.

They've tried that with Vignettes and it almost can work, but the fact that you must have Core for anything to work throws that out the window.
It does help with transportation, by just taking the vignettes and disorders+fighting arts decks I was able to bring it over to friend without much hassle for him to try out the game.
