These are like the worst elves to prove your point. Yes, often enough elves and most fantasy races tend to be an excuse to copy the same 5 elves, orcs, etc by lazy or bad writers and creators. However not all of elves characters nowadays are like that and in fact most of the elves on here are great way examples of a unique character or the very least feels like their own. Plus, Most of your elves then are from the same book (LOTR) and the other two are from WOW, plus Link isn't a elf. He race is basically human with elf ears. Castorice from Honkai: Star Rail likewise has elf ears. Her ancestry is unspecified.

Elysia from Honkai Impact 3rd has elf ears. One of her outfits is called "Miss Pink Elf." This does not seem to be acknowledged in the lore or the dialogue, to my understanding.

The root of the Elves can be traced back to the Aryans. This is the real point of the Elves. In order to be at all authentic to the historic roots of the mythology, they have to be distant and unknown, blurring the lines between nature, divine, and human. They are men, but they are not men, there is something about them that is inherently other, but also familiar because of the distance of time between their first encounter and now.

But Hylians are the humans of Hyrule, just with pointy ears. They have normal lifespans where they grow old and die, they don't have any particular affinity for nature or magic, they are not particularly renowned for any art or craft, they build towns instead of living in forests or something else fantastical, they have normal builds instead of being lithe, they are the dominant species with normal reproduction rates, and they have normal dispositions instead of being haughty and arrogant.

The pointy ears are just an artifact of Link's NES sprite, his whole design is based around having easily distinguishable features in 8-bit. If OoT was the first Zelda game there's no doubt in my mind Hylians would just have normal ears. Another anon said Kokiri are the elves of Zelda, which I think is fair. Although I always thought the Zora filled that role (culturally that is), being a haughty, secluded race. Gorons are the dwarf equivalent.

Tolkien's elves were a mistake. They're completely antithetical to the fokloric view of elves/fairies which are supposed to be mystical and otherworldy, inhuman and amoral, which Tolkien's elves are not.

I read the Culhwch ac Olwen lmao, I read Beowulf, I even did research on Thorfinn Karlsefni and found out he may be a descendant of Björn Ironside, which makes him a descendant of Odin if we go by the Völsunga Saga.
Some people even believe Dwarves are actually the Dark Elves simply because they share the same name.

Fun fact:Back in the original days of DnD, it never quite found it way into Japan like it did in the west. What it did have in Japan was a long running campaign that would be published in a magazine, with the articles cataloging all of what happened. A lot of fantasy tropes you see in modern japanese media(green eyed blonde elf girls, kobolds are dogmen, etc) all come from these articles.
