/osrg/ — Old School Renaissance General
Welcome to the Old School Renaissance General, the thread dedicated to TSR-era D&D, derived systems, and compatible content.

Broadly, OSR games encourage a tonal and mechanical fidelity to early Dungeons & Dragons - less emphasis on linear adventures and overarching meta-plots and a greater emphasis on player agency.

If you are new to the OSR, welcome! Ask us whatever you're curious about. We'll be happy to help you get started on this playstyle.

it's pretty great. Not all of it is great mind you, but it's chock full of ideas to steal and is basically a giant room catalog to pilfer from.

It's not completely coherent and doesn't really work as a place that would logically or naturally exist, but as an environment for players to dive in and explore and never be bored, it's pretty fucking good.

Honestly thats all a megadungeon needs to be. and it succeeds pretty well at that.

I use google sheets. Nice big spreadsheet. I can tag every square with any notes, color the squares, and share it with the rest of the group. I don't let them edit it because they'd definitely fuck things up.
