Yeah it was my first time trying it at 1000pts. I've played only Host of Ascension but with the Primus and the detachment nerfed it lacked the punch I needed. My friend was trying out his Votann for the first time and he plays Blood Angels as his main army and gave me a few tips so I didn't charge like a retard on the first turn and leave myself exposed. For 1000pts I think one Biophagus is enough but you can definitely get another to attach it to 10 rocksaw lads. I ran,
-10 Neophytes for sticky objectives, we drew Lynchpin so it helped greatly.
-5 Flamer Acolytes in reserves to do objectives, I rapid ingressed with them to my opponent's home objective to deny him primary and they worked great.
-5 Aberrants + Abominant, they had infiltrate so easier to reach out to opponent without requiring CP for rapid ingress.
-10 flamer metamorphs + Biophagus in Truck. They wiped out 10 Jaegermeister Infiltrators + Be(r)serks
-5 Genestealer + Patriarch. Patriarch was the MVP with 3dmg attacks & -3
-5 Genestealers.
-Ridgerunner with Mortar and spotter. Surver Augur is good but spotter was better in this one.

The infamous UM grouping that gave free transports if you took a bunch of tacs, one of the weakest units point for point in the game. It fucked up by letting you take razorbacks instead of just rhinos.

6e had one thing wrong with it core wise (allies matrix with insane battle brothers choices), and one bad expansion that got wrapped into 7e core (escalation).

Core only 6e had no lords of war at all and was a solid set of rules. The codexes were all good, and it lasted 2 years because GW was floundering as a company and rushed 7e out the door to get fucking imperial knights into the core rules, and then they pumped formations like a cheap whore.

Anyone who thinks 7e was better than 6e just remembers being pissed about hull points on launch and assumes 6e was bad. I am 1000% more likely to play a game of 6e than to sit through one more psychic phase in my life (and that includes the asinine card game from 2e). But I'm busy with homebrew, so it's irrelevant.

I get that most people here have only been playing since 8th at best, but I wish some of the older people would review their books and refresh the opinions they formed in highschool.

DaVinci is great but their brushes are very long and straight and I like how Vallejo shaped theirs so it looks like it can keep its tip when painting detailed stuff at smaller sizes. I think that's the difference between Winsor & Newton's regular and miniature version of brushes but they're priced extremely high.
I still use synthetics for metallics and washes, or for more general basecoating but for details DaVinci Size 0 has been great. I managed to drop superglue into mine and got a replacement today.
