I ordered a product from Hobby Search ages ago. The order got delayed several times and now that it's available I got a invoice in my inbox with the cost.

At this point I don't want it anymore and the price is super high. Can I just ignore the PayPal request? I don't really care if they block my account because the service they provide is pretty shit compared to other shops anyways. I just dont want to pay

Then just don't pay. I agree. They are pretty shit. If it's your first time they may just cancel the order and leave your account, but if you try and login and it stops working you'll know why.
My recommendation is to make a burner email address and update the details on the account with it along with a false name and address. Then create a new account with your old email. They'll block the burner from logging in or registering again but you'll be able to continue using the new one with your actual email.

I've not ordered from them in years but they had something I wanted in stock, are they really this bad nowadays?

Highly doubt that works, seems a little too obvious, won’t they also block cards and addresses like Amiami?

Just don't pay, you will get banned however. I got completely banned for not paying for two preorders because they wouldn't combine the packages together, because they don't do that type of thing apparently.

I don't really give a shit if I get banned, I'll just go somewhere else or just not do pre-orders moving forward cus frankly the price and shipping was brutal and while I want the item I'm not willing to chip away my bank account that much lmao. oh well

I’m always surprised when I see hobbysearch is still going, especially with stores like Amiami and hlj and proxies for secondhand like zenmarket.

Hobby search refunded my shipping when they removed an item from my order without my authorization (I wasn't charged, but made the order less worthwhile). They're okay in my books

They're the exact same as they've always been.

Ignoring them is the best option here. I haven't used them in a while but I'm assuming they still have their shitty cancellation policy of making you pay 10% of the item cost to cancel outside the cancellation window.

It's only fair for them to do that if you're going to fuck them around.

what do you mean? Hobby Search is a JP site that just so happens to have an english side for foreigners to order. It's not like gaijin money is their main business.

I used them recently for something I couldn't find elsewhere and had a positive experience. What I was looking for was actually cheaper from Hobby Search than HLJ by about $10, though HLJ was sold out regardless. I feel like HLJ is always sold out of stuff I'm looking for, so it's good to have other options.

Worked for me. I use PayPal and I change the name and address on the account before they cancel it. Doubt they keep records of all previous ones.

I don't even think there IS a cancelation window from what I can tell. I preordered something there recently (was sold out everywhere else) and it didn't show any option to do so.
