If you prefer the more detailed vintage Origins to less-detailed CC body, as I do, it's getting frustrating that expanding the cast with crossovers now makes your He-Man He-Manlet.

Also, I've never cared for Despara 's butch cut, so I hope that her armor and cape won't prevent me from putting the wave 3 She-Ra head on her body.

For the other anons that have Daiso: My Daiso got rid of the doll dresses that fit the male motu buck and now have two types of smaller versions which fit the female buck. Pics to follow. Also the prices are now $2.25 each with inflation.

Like the theme, hate the lack of a classic look Mikey since all of his had armor torsos. Hate the shell only attaching with the gear and the undershell being unpainted. Lot of unpainted parts under the gear wasn't ideal. Fuck the WM exclusives which are ass to find

Yeah, looks like they based the sculpt on the Classics figure which was obviously referencing the Classics Hordak head-sculpt not the vintage. I wish they'd made an effort to make her Origins figure work better with the vintage designs that most of Origins are based on, and those giant reused swords don't look great either. I thought she was going to be a instant pickup for me but now I'm not sure.

I honestly could have gone for another wave or two. It was such an awesome ride. I really wish they'ed covered more dimension x guys and a few other muties like stockman. Hordak should have been reserved for a dimension x wave.

Think we'll see anything significant at this London comic con today? As in multiple figures.

Or do you think it'll be at best maybe 1 figure (or nothing new besides Despara) and all the good shit will be saved for sdcc in July?

That's kinda the thing, I like it but I felt like Reptile Wars was overstaying its welcome, especially when they brought no new characters beyond Foot Soldier and the biggest hype was for fixing mistakes of old figures (like unhelmeted Don).

Issue with Origins figures is that there is dillema whenever they should be as accurate as possible or made in matching style. So you get CC figures that are too simplistic and then guys like Fang-Or who are overdetailed. It's clear that Mattel doesn't try that hard to customize right look, they only do changes for the budget cuts.

So for example if anything lack of paint apps makes everyting look very accurate.

(speaking of paint aps, a bit awkward how all the artwork for new He-Man/Skeletor 2-pack clearly was made with thought that Skelly's harness will be painted)

I kinda wish Despara's hair was more symmetrical. I dont like that gap on the side, it suppose to be a buzzcut, it shouldn't be swiped up like that. Slight Rev vibes from that.

It doesn't bother me but it's odd that they didn't design her bracers. Not new arm nor removable pieces, just painted them. Is this normal level of cost cutting for Origins?

Now that you mention it, I'm not even sure what was going on with her original DC costume. Where were the black bracers, again?

Her arms seem to change design between panels.

The weirdest part of her costume is that she wears gray spandex to look like Hordak, but the gray is his bare skin. So with that hip armor but no superhero trunks, she looks like one of Hordak's species running around with a bare vulva.

The sketch version generally looks better to me, and I already have the Classics version that scales fine with Origins as it is, so I really don't need or want the same thing but an inch shorter.

And I know Mattel well enough to know there's practically no chance in hell they make two Dylamugs to appease both camps...hell if Classics is any indication, Mattel won't even make ONE Dylamug and we'll have to cross our fingers a 3rd party licenses Origins to make it

Oddly enough, as primarily a pre-CC Origins collector, CC Dylamug is one of the "male" characters I'd be most excited to get, since I wouldn't have to worry about him being taller than my He-Man.
Why couldn't they have kept the male buck the same height, like the New female?

They actually have several spots where they can still do reuse WITHOUT changing designs
Rotar and Dragstor both have regular bicep arms with gloves that can come from Hordak or Tung Lashor
Blade can reuse biceps and torso and thighs if they make the armor bits removable
Blast-Attak and Multi-Bot technically need new bits but they can pretool Golden Rod and Great Black Wizard (which you know they're gonna)
I think only Stonedar and Twistoid have absolutely no potential for reuse or pretooling

Techincally, Dragstor's gauntlets have outer rim so that's detail that would be sacrificed. Pig-Head's bracelets are almost perfect for it but they have outer and inner rim.

Yeah, if new armor molds for existing body parts is on the table, I'd welcome characters like Saurod that way. He could use:
ToG Clamp Champ torso under new body armor
Rattlor upper arms with removable shoulder armor
Rattlor thighs with new thigh armor
Feet from... Rio Blast?
Probably going to need new lower legs, both the knee-to-boot-cut and boot part, forearms, hands and crotch piece in addition to head. Maybe share a tail with someone?

Though now looking at vintage Saurod instead of the more detailed Classics, maybe him sharing boots with somebody would be acceptable. The bracers are still a little too detailed to slap Tung Lashor's forearms on and call it a day.
The piece the torso, thighs and tail might also be shareable, as it lacks movie/Classics details like visible trouser cloth under bronze armor: it just needs to pass for metal armor and have a tail connector.
