At this point I sincerely believe Tamashii makes Monsterverse slop out of contractual obligation. They don't give zero shit about the marvelized american retard version and that's why it looks the way it does. Most of their Showa/Heisei/Millennium stuff turns out exceptionally well.

Or more likely, they have to crank out the American movie based releases in a fast manner without having access to the final models until late in the game , constrained with having to follow a rigid CGI model without as much room for interpretation. Where as the JP stuff comes from a long tradition of model kits being sculpted without digital models to directly reference from and designing a way to make the suits feel lively and iron out any flaws. Plus having far more reference and no hard deadlines to release around movie hype.
The Minus One Monsterarts having QC issues despite the movie being Japanese and well regarded points to the issue more being having to work with new designs vs ones that already have been long established and they don't have to rush out.
But if it makes you feel better, you can pretend it's because Bandai also dislikes the same things you do.

That's a wild take considering how bad Minus Goji turned out and how they've never fixed Shin despite it literally being the most popular Godzilla movie in Japan. (Minus One made more at the international box office, but made nearly half as much in Japan as Shin). One of the issues with the MV is that they make them off of half finished concept art so that they can come out at around the same time as the movie. But the main issue is that the newer designs are way more complex in their detail and teeth work than the older suit based designs and as a result the scale SHMA operates in does not work well with bringing them to life. MV Goji and Minus Goji need figures the size of the Hiya Godzilla's to be able to have enough room to actually do their designs well, the 6-in scale just doesn't work for them. When Hiya decided to shrink their 2014 Godzilla, it suffered from the same sort of bad translating of detailing that the SHMA did because it was the same size as the SHMA.

True, but the only thing wrong with -1 was the headsculpt. Fixed that with 3rd party stuff and it's an amazing figure now. Maybe it also has to do with replicating real existing suits vs recreating CGI models. I don't know. There's a pattern though, but I'm still never nervous when buying any Showa/Heisei/Millennium stuff.

The 3rd party head sculpts that fix the issue are all printed from resin which can hold the sharper detail of the more complex designs much better than the plastics that Bandai and Hiya use. But given how brittle the material is there's no way that an actual company would use it when making a figure. The SHMA EvoGoji and DoughGoji only really have problems with their head sculpts same as Shin and Minus Goji, while Kong, Skar King, Ghidorah,and Shimo's main problems are that they are made from concept art.

Though Shimo does have another major issue in that they weirdly decided to make her out of translucent plastic and then dump a obscene amount of paint on her so every joint has to be dipped in hot water and cleaned to free upher ability to move.

Eh. The monsterarts one is pretty much as good as it can possibly be, so if I wanted one, I'd get that one. Hiya Hedorah would be neat, but Hedorah's been done to death in terms of figures. Hiya should stick to figures no one else does like Kumonga or Ebirah instead of directly competing. That said, I think if they did Shin it would be right up their alley with all detail and very little movement.

Both Hiya and Mezco have stated in the past that while they have (or had in the case of Mezco) access to Toho's full roster of Godzilla kaiju they were told they couldn't do super articulated Showa figures and had to start with Heisei. Hiya has since walked that back in an interview with TK where they said they can do whatever they want and that's why they are thinking of doing Ultima and Minus One, but right now they are focusing on the figures that will sell the best. Super7 never said why they decided to start the Ultimates line with the Heisei era, but they probably were told they can't do super articulated Showa figures as well.

Has a DEEP crunch for satisfying battle stances.

Can become very tall if you stretch him out.
