Yes from gundamit. Their after sale service is pretty good, I used it before for missing parts. Ideally I'd rather try my luck and get a full replacement after sending back the current one but I don't know if they have any left. Already asked for a shoulder replacement though. Bothersome situation. Also the shoulder can't be removed easily, it's several parts all glued together

NTA but they shouldn't let Katoki design it. If you leave katoki to his devices he creates horrible toys. Limited range of articulation, fiddly as fuck, and generally not fun. The MG gunpla unicorns went through multiple revisions because of him and the MGEX, which had his input, was basically a response to the RG shitting all over the old MG. In the MGEX manual interview he specifically cites the RG as basically spurring him to redesign the MGEX with better articulation, more frame details, and so forth because it blew him away that a smaller model achieved what he couldn't with the original MG sculpt. So it's no surprise that it looks more like the RG. He clearly has an ego considering it took the RG shitting on his Ver Ka sculpt to finally change it for the MGEX. They probably also gave the toy engineers more control over the project so he couldn't place the leg fins in the path of the knee bend. I like Katoki's designs but he's not an engineer, he has a background in drafting and design and technical drawings, they're not the same thing.

He doesn't seem bitter about the RG unless you're talking about a different interview. Nevertheless, Katoki always references past works in developing new iterations. He did the same thing for Wing Zero EW Ver Ka

I highly doubt Bandai will forego releasing Unicorn under Gundam Fix unless it goes to Metal Structure. Attaching his name is additional marketing boost. Even Metal Builds have Yanase, Akutsu or Ebikawa's involvement.

Bandai’s been focusing a lot on Metal Robot Spirits atm, and we just had multiple RDs on PBandai last month, and we’ve been seeing multiple rereleases of non-Gundam RD via Sunrise Spirits. Zeta and SEED both have upcoming retail releases, after which they’ll announce whatever the next retail releases are. Just a lot of different sublines now compared to years ago, Bandai only has some much capacity in their production schedule.

Also they’ve still paused all solicitations in the US for literally every Tamashii Nations product except for DB SHF for 2 months, and the US is still a significant part of their market, so that’s also playing a factor. They’ve apparently resumed shipments at the very least, so hopefully solicitations follow shortly but it’s hard for then to commit with tariff policy being anything but consistent.

Heads up for anyone who wants the RD of the protagonist’s mech in SRW Y, playasia finally put up preorders for the English collector’s edition… pretty pricy but I’m gonna go in on it since if SRW30 was anything to go by it’ll be a real pain to get later.

Anyone happen to know what magazine this scan is from? It's been about a year since it surfaced and I have not been able to track down a source to check if it's legit or not. Ka Signature articles are usually featured in Hobby Japan's pages around the 110s ~120s, but none of last years' scans turned out any matches and 2023's scans are hard to find.

Wing is going to be more popular in the US, makes more sense to do Universe releases for your casual and metal build/MRD for the hardcore collectors

This may or may not be the thread for this but I was thinking of getting the Gundam Universe Epyon but I've seen a lot of complaints about the line. I only have experience handling RD Gundams so how does the Universe line compare quality-wise and scale-wise? Would the upcoming GU Epyon make for a decent enough fill-in alongside my RD Tallgeeses or am I better off just hunting down the old RD Epyon? I heard the newer ones are projected to have "improved" engineering and the metallic paint looks kinda nice on the Epyon, but I don't want to waste money on it if the old RD will suffice.

I was able to find RD Epyon on a markup, but I do have the GU on order and have yet to cancel it. Looking up some reviews, they're really bigger than what I'm used to, so I guess fitting it with my RD Tallgeeses is out of the question. Still, maybe I'll keep my order for now since having a big chunky ML quality Epyon does sound appealing.

Now there's renewal versions for RX-78, Burning Gundam, and Barbatos on BBTS.

I’m satisfied with it as it fills its purpose of being a giant boss enemy for my SRW display that towers over even my biggest chogokin figures but I’d be the first to admit it’s not worth their asking price. In terms of finish it’s just a big RD so it lacks paint, the light up features are cool enough but they’re also done just as well on much cheaper figures, and there are omissions that I just question entirely, like it not having an option for a painted monoeye so it looks alive when those lights are off, or a larger display stand so you could actually put it in the air. How happy you are with it is going to boil down to how much you really want a giant hamburger on legs that can’t do much other than stand there menacingly. Like the other anon said if you don’t have a display in mind it’s hard to recommend.

Actual answer here is likely that the paint apps required for the GQX Gundams to be anime accurate makes them cost as much as the ACVI ones did and that point bumping them up to MRD makes more sense.

Also since it seems that the Gwitch Ver Anime line kind of sold pretty poorly and seems to have been completely dropped at this point, Bandai appears to have started doing MRDs for new Gundam projects as the main promotional figure line with SEED Freedom and will likely continue that for the foreseeable future. I wouldn’t expect RD Ver Anime to ever touch GQX if I’m being honest.

Indeed it is! It's the very first Zaku II in the line, RD number 97, released in 2011. The gimmick back then was the hardpoint system, which let you attach weapons/accessories onto various spots on the figure.

Lots of newer Zaku IIs have been released, particularly under the ver. A.N.I.M.E. tagline, but the original 2011 release still has its charms.

It feels stable enough; the hips and knees have strong ratchets and the ankles are diecast. But with its foot design and the lack of metal in the feet themselves them I will definitely keep mine on its stand. Its just too big of a toy to risk falling over from bumping the cabinet.

It's here. I won't have much time for at least two weeks, doubt I'll be able to play with it for a bit. The box is fairly small for the amount of accessories included. I can only speak for IBO MRD. While they're fine, it's not uncommon for the figure to have small paint defects and scratches out of the box. If you lose the lottery, you can get pretty bad defects. Sometimes there isn't even protective paper

It’s one of the oldest MRD molds but it’s solid, only issue the SEED MRDs tend to have are the hips, they’re diecast on diecast balljoints so they can have some weird looseness sometimes (easy enough to fix but still). As long as they updated the stand adaptor (the original had a loose fit on the crotch out of box), should be a good time.

Personally if you’re in the market for a MRD Strike Freedom, you’d probably be better off with the SF TII, it’s retail in the US and still very readily available, comes with a little more and the mold updates are pretty nice.
