Todd keeps organising for his trucks to get stolen so that he can create even more artificial scarcity.

They really started giving more classic design figures waaaay too late. And their marekting is really weak as well, รฌts hard to pre order figures when youve got to use a divining rod to discern where they are available and when they go on sale.

Agreed. He seems to release alot of figures and frequently but so much is either garbage or unobtainable.

What's weird, though, is that the demand seems somewhat manufactured. I go a few toy shows each year, some as a customer and others as a dealer. DC's never been as everywhere as Marvel Legends, but McFarlane has had very little presence even compared to Mattel and DCD/DCC.

I picked up both Arkham City and DKR Catwoman figures for MSRP ($20). In fact, the Arkham one, I got it at a show the following year from the one I saw it. Talk about low demand. For the Question, I paid $10 over the $25 MSRP. Right now, I'm looking at an eBay listing of the dealer that used to set up next to me, and he's trying to get $145 for it! Good luck man. I had the same luck trying to flip an extra classic WW. That's approaching $200 some places but I couldn't get $40 for it! I have an extra Power Girl I'll bring to my big show in the fall and I'll bet I can't make $10 on it.

It'll be interesting to see how the line fares once the license lapses and it's entirely in the rearvie mirror.

Itโ€™s for everything mcfarlane is doing now.
>low production runs

Here's a question: how does McFarlane benefit from artificial scarcity, i.e. NOT selling figures to people? It benefits scalpers sure, but it would make a lot more sense if McFarlane made close to the demand rather than drastically under demand.

Their products appear desirable and in demand thus box stores buy his product to generate foot traffic from retards on wild goose chases. The retailers donโ€™t care about the sales they care about the traffic. The limited quantities benefit mcfarlane because itโ€™s guaranteed profit.

I don't think Walmart realizes but when we plastic addicts are on their way to toys, we aren't able to see anything else. Our bulging eyes scan the aisles looking only for the sweet satisfaction of little plastic people. So trying to get us to buy something else we might see is futile.

I never understood it but Matty Collector used to openly promote artificial scarcity and I never understood how it benefited them. Other than the idea that they thought scalpers were their primary audience so artificial scarcity was just a FOMO tactic for them.

Well I think in MattyCollector's case they used the (potentially legitimate) scarcity of the individual releases to push subscriptions. The subscriptions allowed them to push alot of less desirable stuff. The fact that is was largely sight-unseen (they showed you 3-4 of the 12-15 you were committing to) allowed them to push Eternals-level Ollies fodder.

>>11450519
This. I mean, I'll buy other stuff once you've dragged me to the store, but only if I find when I went for. No toy, no pens or paper towels or whatever else you wanted me to buy.

I remember when you used to be able to get DC Multiverse figures for 8-12 bucks on clearance. No more. Places are refusing to mark anything down anymore and the prices are mostly going up.

If Todd genuinely cared about making as much money as possible he wouldnโ€™t be doing retarded shit like chase variants, he just thinks figures are supposed to be for speculative market collectors like they were in the 90s and weโ€™ve long moved past that
