Are blind box toys gambling?
>>11454460 (OP)Blind boxes don’t meet the strict legal definition of gambling because you’re buying some kind of product, not placing a wager. They're more like loot boxes in a video game if anything.
I wouldn't say so for blokee
You buy a box you get everyone with no duplicates, it's just 1 of them may or may not be the more shiny colored version
No because gambling involves you risking having a net loss
Even if you didn't get the toy you want you're still getting a toy period
>>11454460 (OP)It's really easy to resell blind box stuff so not really, you can't resell loot boxes in video games.
>>11456858And Chinese sellers are willing to break open the boxes and sell you known figures.
>>11454480It's technically not gambling, but loot boxes in vidya use the same psychological principle as gambling to put you in a compulsion loop to keep you playing. Blind box toys keep you buying until you get the one you want and you get that sweet sweet dopamine release. Ask my friend who would buy so many Lego Collectible Minifigures trying to get the ones he wanted because he only does castle Lego, but wasn't very good at feeling and guessing what was in the bags. At least now there is an app that can tell what is in the box by scanning the QR code.
>>11456882Plus they're like under $5 for something better than McDonalds even used to offer
>>11454460 (OP)not if i pull something good
Legally, no. You are guaranteed to receive a non monetary reward.
Physiologically, yes. There's always ones you want and ones you'd feel terrible getting. Yes, some guarantee every figure if you buy a case, but that's why the ultra cool paint schemes are sub 1 per case.
Legally no but the law is definitely very far behind on surprise mechanics like blindbags.
OT but is having a kid considered gambling? Wombs are like fleshie blind boxes...
>>11458165These days you can use an app to find out if you are getting a dud.
>>11454460 (OP)any good blindbox line will just let you buy a case and you'll get 1 of each minus any kind of 'ultra rare variant'
>>11454460 (OP)gambling adjacent and gay
>>11456858>You buy a boxHow many people by an entire box though?
>OT but is having a kid considered gambling? Wombs are like fleshie blind boxes...LMFAO
>>11454460 (OP)Not if you can buy a sealed case. That way you'll know exactly what you're getting.
>>11460392This is true for Blokees but NOT for other copycat brands! Check the reviews first. Pic is Glory Alliance by dison
>>11459117No idea but so far I've only bought boxes as that just seems to make more sense to me
>>11459117Aren't boxes ~$80? Fucking trading card hobby boxes run for $300
>>11461655yes depending on if the box or case isn't locally sourced or the IP is Niche. IE you need to middle man it from Taobao or something. The Armor Hero ones are the worst about it. 1/99 chance for ultras and only 12 boxes per case, cases typically are $60-80
>>11461655$30 for me but I'm no burger
>>11458556This. I've mostly just bought whole waves of Transformers Blokees and while the chase figures can be neat I'm fine if I get the regular versions so it isn't really a gamble for me. Also if they use the Mega Man license to release waves of figures in the same size as the Galaxy Version Transformers with a selection of robot masters I will buy the shit out of them as well.
>>11463019Related, bit of a tangent.
Do they do Ultraman? Anyone seen those out in the wild?
>>11463054>Do they do Ultraman? They do and there are at least 14 waves of them.
>Anyone seen those out in the wild?I have not, though unlike a few of the other lines those are actually being sold on the Blokees US website.
>>11454462>>11456871if you dont get what you want then it is a loss
>>11463054Ultraman was their first big license, if you ignore Wandering Earth 2
>>11463767It CAN feel like a loss but legally anyway subjective disappointment doesn’t equal gambling. You paid for a product and got one. In gambling the risk is losing your stake and getting nothing in return. The loss with blind boxes is emotional or personal preference not financial or material. You might not like a shirt you order online, or you regret a food order. That doesn’t make it gambling.

The odds are probably stacked against you worse than in any casino out there.
>>11454460 (OP)>>11463019Mega Man figures in this style would be perfect they are already in these exact proportions
>>11457170The store I got them at was like 10.00 a pop where are you getting them at?
I notice a lot of listings for these are from china, are these bootlegs or the real thing? I think someone said it’s a Chinese company so maybe if that’s true it makes sense that sellers on eBay are shipping them from china, but I still wonder if they are the real product because I’ve heard many products in china have stolen molds. I don’t want something made out of weird sketchy materials.
>>11472564You have never heard of people hiring a factory in china to make their figures and within a few months or a year other factories are making bootlegs of their same product? It’s not that outlandish of a concern if you are getting the real thing or not ordering from china.
>>11474219It's the same everywhere. Are your parents real? How do you know they don't have boots or legs?
>>11458024i find it funny that people like to mesure gambling only if you try to win money.
the issue is supposed to be how a random outcome can be manipulated and be miss leading, what you get should not matter
>>11467547I think blind boxes have a legal obligation to show you want your odds are and balanced in a way were purchasing an entire palette would get you all possible items.
Casinos have no such obligation.
