With the new Amazon MGM Voltron movie coming out, will we get new toys?

These were shown at Voltcon last year. Hope they're still happening.

Depends if film is in theaters, the rumour that they consider a streaming only release doesn't help it.

In comparison, Masters of the Universe gets a theatrical release. Like, the new movie, fountain of youth by Guy Richie, was released on streaming but originally it had a theatrical release date and that's because test screenings were bad. Road House too.

So it really depends, this type of decision can impact the merchandising.

Wish I still had my old hand-me-downs so I could get these. I know its weird but as a kid I really wanted those two to hang out at the castle while my pilots went into battle.

I wish I still had my castle. My mom got rid of it when I got older. I'd kill to still have that thing.

>will we get new toys?

Theres already too many.
anyone who gives a shit about voltron/golion already has at least one good modern take on him by now.

I mean there's the SOC, minipla, multiple toonami versions, Infinity Gokin, Carbotix, Titan Power, micro cosmos, The ES Gokin SD & The Threezero Robo-Dou version.... probably more i'm forgetting. The market is saturated as fuck with decent versions.

I have the toonami 30th anniversary voltron, the titanpower & the blitzway carbotix version.
The only way I would even consider buying another is if they did a perfect re-release of the original 1984 Popy golion & I think the mould's for that are long gone.

For Voltron himself sure, but I feel like there is an untapped market for action figures of the human/villain characters. The original Panosh Place line is very dated in terms of sculpt and articulation, and the only thing we've had since then were the Mattycollector pilots which were only sold with their respective lions, each of which ran from $50 - $65.

It's nice to see the potential of characters like Coran and Nanny getting figures after all these years, but those are the same dated style and articulation of the old Panosh Place toys. I'd love to see a new line of 3.75" figures more in line with the Mattycollector ones.

I'd love to get updated versions of the villains with improved sculpts and articulation, and any of the cancelled wave 2 characters. Hell, I'd settle for 5poa ReActions if the sculpts were at least significantly better than the old figures. Not sure why no one ever tries releasing anything other than the robot.

Toy companies seem pretty adverse to releasing monster characters from the 80s at affordable prices. Like how they are on their second real Ghostbusters wave release and have only released 4 ghosts and two of them were obvious (slimer and stay puft).
