Thoughts on Toho's new official kaiju "Volga"?
>>11457745 (OP)This is my Godzilla and I don't care what anyone says.
>>11457748Meh. Looks like a generic 90's Ultra kaiju.
>>11457786You new here? Not a very unique take. You're not being brave. A lot of anons like Zilla.
>>11457748Looks more like an Ultraman monster. Don't really like it. Feel like Godzilla always has a good balance of cool and natural.
>>11458286>>11457850That's because they hired an Ultraman/Sentai monster designer to make this character.
>>11458274Alien kaiju from the new Godzilla manga 'Godzilla Galaxy Odyssey'
>>11458375>>11457748The design could grow on me if they use it properly. I don't know if they will however.
>>11457748really do like Godzilla's design. Its simple yet very nice. He seemed skinnier in that colored teaser panel though.
>>11458577These got good when they weren't just making bootlegs of Bandai and NECA molds.
>>11457748On the comic side of things there is a shared universe of Godzilla titles coming to IDW soon. Im sure we'll see some new monsters and designs in that too.
>>11457748Too edgy, not goofy enough. Feels like if Godzilla Unleashed had a third OC kaiju, but made by a Japanese guy.
>my final wars goji's eyes are funky
dangit. I fear for Godzilla 2000.
OH NO!
HE'S NOT GONNA GO
3 - 0
>>11458577Terrible throughout
>>11458611>Comic bookWhy is there lesbians on the covers?
>IdwAh yes the woke company.
>>11459418I'd like a Godzilla keychain but that'd probably hurt like hell in my pocket.
Where yall buying your Hiya figures? I'm still waiting on BBTS to ship my Shimo, while other people have had theirs for months?
>>11459436I imagine this is how a zoomer would react to something like Tank Girl if it was released now and was exactly the same
>>11459482That pink is pretty badly painted.

>>11459578In this case he's right to be worried. They did an mpreg storyline in transformers and their TMNT has consistently used mutation as a metaphor for transgenderism. Sonic's worst sin is being deathly dull, but this is a rare case where the infamous sega mandates are probably doing more good than harm.
Basically all the memes about modern comics are fully incarnated in IDW.
It's amazing how many comic books Americans have made for Godzilla yet no one will ever mention them or talk about them. There was this Godzilla comic book called summer camp island yet it's mostly about these girls at camp and barely has anything to do with the monsters
>>11459597The Transformers one is an example from 15 years ago from a writer that hasn't worked with them sense
I kinda think that hurts your example when all that person is reacting to is a woman with short hair? Is she a lesbian in the book?
Like half of their Godzilla comics are unreadable too you know
>>11459613Except for Minya being their best friend.
>>11459616That same writer wrote the tranny episode in cyberverse with the gay owl which is why that show got cancelled and it's the only thing people ever talk about of that show. The comics idw made for transformers had so many issues like hrt arcee, transgender sparks it's no wonder hasbro cancelled their contracts. Even Japan hates how they wrote Star Saber.
>>11459616>>11459597It's funny how everyone keeps calling it a mpreg storyline when it was basically three pages of one issue and never resolved because of the forced reboot
>>11459626It's funny how a gay owl would cancel a cartoon no one was even watching because of gay people grooming children with LGBT shit
>>11459625You know, his name is James Roberts, you can Google his name and see he never worked on the cartoon
Do you just think everyone you don't like is the cause of all your problems
>>11459625HRT Arcee was by Simon Furman, schizo
>>11459627Nicole Dubuc, a Transformers Prime writer, wrote that
Aren't we talking about comics by IDW because they do Godzilla or does the gay owl live rent free in your head
>>11459613>It's amazing how many comic books Americans have made for Godzilla yet no one will ever mention them or talk about themPeople talk about Half-Century War all the time.
Imagine giving a shit about who wrote what instead of laughing at how pozzed and homosexual Americans are with wokifying everything they touch.
>>11459481This mold will be awesome when they release the heat ray version with less fucked paint
>>11459643That's a good attempt at a deflection over this
>>11459625 retarded post, where they admitted to being wrong about shit they didn't know anything about
>>11459647How is it wrong, cyberverse got cancelled because of a gay owl and a dumb writer wanting to pander to troons.
>>11458611ngl I kinda dig the design. Maybe its the green
>>11459643yeah imagine using google, shut the fuck up.
>>11459716Imagine wanting to read the new idw comic about Godzilla when it's really about a fat black lesbian woman.
>>11459506It's a mix between Gundamit and INSHobby. INS shipping is high though like $30 for Shimo. Ghidorah (1991) was also like $60 shipping on INS just to give perspective.
>>11459718Well you can barely read anyway so you should look forward to the youtubers you get opinions from to read it for you so you can have more slop content
>>11459745>YouTubers! Those YouTubers and their opinions! They're all equally woke fags too
>>11459718Happy Pride Month! Even this franchise has to learn that other people and other ways of life are thriving while yours decays, and if it doesn't appeal to the new generation it goes extinct with the dinosaurs.
>>11460031Gays reproduce?
>>11460033They find insecure dudes and prey on their weak emotions.
bigots and falseflaggers really kill this general for me. Just talk about toys bro
>>11460077Nice double dubs. >bigot
But imma need you to stop molesting and grooming kids, faggot.
>>11457748don't like it. looks like a cheap power rangers monster.
they should have gone with another insect or animal and spice it up, not another godzilla-like monster.
How do you feel about SpaceGodzilla being rumored for Godzilla x Kong 3?
>>11460190Fuck I don't want to spend 300 on this but I will
>>11459626It was still a storyline that involved Mpreg. I suppose the aspect of the female face of the series being made into a tranny is a more notable issue (born of Simon Furman trying to apply unneeded logic to the comic)
>>11460183I'll like it if Godzilla turns into him as a loop hole to get around the clause that he can never lose.
>>11460183Cant say since I doubt he will be in it since I doubt Legendary going to pony up and pay Toho the licensing fees for him and Gigan for that matter.
>>11460230Well Godzilla Evolved isn't that far off from looking like him especially with that spiked tail
>>11460290Godzilla Evolved is more supposed to be MireGoji than he is Spacegoji. Course if you really wanna be a bigger nerd of Godzilla culture than Godzilla Evolved is more like Super Godzilla than Spacegoji.
>>11460289true but to add more fuel to the fire, an actor who recently landed a role in the movie posted on Instagram about how excited he was to be part of the film after reading the script followed by hashtags, one of which was #GodzillaVsSpaceGodzilla. The post was quickly deleted.
>>11460292Didn't Miregoji go through a blackhole at the end of Megaguirus? I wonder if he looked any different.
>>11460289>since I doubt Legendary going to pony up and pay TohoI mean they paid to add Mothra in the last one and I feel like a one off villain like Space G would be cheaper than some of the other ones Legendary has used
>>11460183It's pretty fucking lame, I've already seen Godzilla vs Space Godzilla.
>>11460183I hope he's hot. Maybe even fatter than beargoji. :9
any review channels you can recommend?
>>11460340I think Mothra they still had the rights with since KOTM. Mechagodzilla they had the rights since Ready Player One.
Hiya out here putting Bandai in the ground on lame repaint re-releases
>>11460386Do rights work like that? Maybe. I figured they would have to pay for them for each use. Anyways, originally Mothra wasn't in GxK at all, they had an original Mothra inspired, legally distinct kaiju but after test reactions they pasted Mothra on top.
>>11460597To an extent yes. I think the rights given last for like 5-10 years usually. Toho did this for King Kong during the 60s and wanted King Kong to be in DAM, but by 1968 the rights of use expired and thus was removed and replaced with I think Anguirus
>>11460386>>11460597>>11460613If I remember correctly, the intent was always to use Mothra in The New Empire, but they had to renegotiate her rights, and so they came up with the weird bird-thing as a Plan B just in case they couldn't get her a second time.
Also, looking at that picture of the bird-thing again, what a weird fucking design. It vaguely reminds me of Acacius from the Godzilla NES Creepypasta.
>>11460597I hope they recycle that guy for something else later down the line, it's very cool looking. Love those translucent rainbow wings.
>>11460864It's a little strange if they were intending to use her, it felt like a scene was missing where they explained how she came back. A quest into the jungle to find a caterpillar forme or something. It was just kind of like, "and Mothra is here too!" I keep hoping the fairies will turn up, it's not like they'd be out of place with how gonzo monsterverse has been willing to go.
>>11459616>>11459626Alright, if we don't like admitting to the mpreg storyline how about the "spark in the wrong body" transgender storyline? That was much more recent and much more complete. And frankly more ham handed.
>>11460906Why does this freak have a article dedicated to them?
https://tfwiki.net/wiki/Jenevieve_Frank
>>11460904>it felt like a scene was missing where they explained how she came back. While I agree it was weird that she was just generated out of fairy dust and had more to do with Skull Island than Infant Island and it was too rushed, I will say that apparently the intent (one of those types of things said by the writer or director in a random interview rather than the actual movie) was that the Mothra in The New Empire was not the Mothra from King of the Monsters, but rather the original Mothra, the very first incarnation from however many thousands or millions of years ago. Whatever this means or accomplishes, whether Godzilla knows this Mothra better or worse than the one from KOTM, is anyone's guess.
>>11457745 (OP)I had this when I was a kid, broke the big spike :(
is hiya kong really coming out this month?
>>11460192Itโll be more like $180 I just canโt image what the minifig will be I doubt a kaiju a Dr serizawa would be neat but itโd only work for a 1954 goji
>>11461022Great for shm final Godzilla paintjob really holds up after all these years

So apparently Godzilla becomes public domain in 2032
>While the copyright protection period for films is currently 70 years after release, Japan's former copyright law, replaced in 1971, set the period at 38 years after the creator's death.
>As the Godzilla film's creator, director Ishiro Honda died in 1993, police determined that the film's copyright will last until the end of 2031.
https://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/06/19/japan/crime-legal/osaka-man-arrest-godzilla/
sofubi bros ... what do you use to wash sticky figures? warm or cold water? dishwashing soap? i am scared of paint coming off but i hear that it's common to have to wash sticky vinyl figures?
>>11461981Didn't Tanaka made Godzilla though? So it would be like 2037 for Godzilla to go public
>>11462062The first Godzilla was directed by Ishiro Honda
>>11462118Yes, but Tanaka created the character. Honda was just a hired position for the project.
>>11462124>>11462062Honda's estate pulled a Siegel and Shuster for a chunk of the rights a few years ago
>>11462062>>11462124Unless Japan does things different then you'd be right. One would think Tanaka was the creative for Godzilla unless the Japanese see Honda as George Lucas in spirit or something.
>>11461981Only the Godzilla from the first movie goes into public domain. You can't reference any abilities, enemies, or design appearances from any later films.
So what happened with that MonsterArts King Ghidorah 1972 that was announced a while back? Is that still happening? When does that come out?
>>11462366I don't see that being a major issue. I do wonder though if he could be called Godzilla since that is the American name.
How are the Bandai Movie Monsters series toys?
>>11461981They did this with Mickey Mouse. It's only gonna be the very specific first edition of Godzilla. That's how it will presumably go for Popeye and Superman and Batman and all that.
>>11463067>>11463070Did they even show off the first one besides the prototype at that expo? Also ngl this boy a chonker compared to the likes the the SHMA and even NECA
>>11463096Those guys are on a "Anything older then X amount of years is public domain" dripfeed versus the "After X amount of years, all this author's stuff goes free" rule this Godzilla ruling seems to have been based on. Incidentally, based on this logic, Godzilla Raids Again has been public domain since 2011.
>>11463134*X amount of years after death
>>11463101Yes, the regular version has been up for pre-order since September of last year.
>>11463248Is it me or did they downgrade the quality between this and
>>11463070>>11463067 that? Like the non atomic breath version looks better in both sculpt and paint.
>>11463067I literally cannot keep up with what is what anymore with Hiya.
>>11463248>>11463070Is GMK Godzilla's head just difficult to sculpt? It always looks off enough.
I've only seen it really nailed in the Monsterarts and the MMS.
>>11463255Same. All I know is they made a MUTO and a Scylla that I want to get eventually, but other than that it feels like they've come out with like 100 other figures.
I want to buy a hiya but then they come out or show pics of a different variant every week. I'm waiting for mecha ghidorah with effect parts now.
>>11463367And so many figures that are just the same fucking thing but only barely different

>>11463095I love them. They have got better with sculpt over the years at the cost of much less paint (with some exceptions here and there). To me, they feel so good to hold in your hand and to look at.
>>11464414How much longer til someone can legally make The Ultimate Showdown: The Movie.
When will Hiya release the Evolved Godzilla from GxK: TNE?
>>11463134>Incidentally, based on this logic, Godzilla Raids Again has been public domain since 2011.It wouldnt be the first time something under our noses had been PD for decades. Fing Fang Foom has been PD since 1989, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit since 2002, and both of Superman's parents since the 1940's. Thing is most people either didnt have the means to check the copyright status of these characters pre-2000 and now that they do nob9dy wants to get sued.
That said I am seeing more people put Kong and Gorgo to use lately. I know one guymade a Kong vs Dracula comc.

I wanted to bring this to the thread's attention. Lanard, the same guys that released those fun Skull Island and Rampage toys nearly a decade ago and subsequently the equally fun but sadly shortlived Aliens and Predator collections, I now about to release a generic Godzilla stand in to pair with their brand X Kong. The Big Boss Gorilla is obviously just Rampage's George with a new head and some scarring on the chest, but this Gojisaur took alot of liberties.
They also have a light up chomping megalodon releasing soon. If you werent satisfied by the NECA JAWS release, you might like this one. Then again Chap Mei still releases their big sharks through Family Dollar every year around christmas time.
>>11465308>characters pre-197840 years at most
>characters post-1978nearly a whole century unless copyright reforms get enacted
>>11465973That's pretty cool
>>11465973He looks eerily similar to those ai shitpost images of godzilla spreading his ass and shitting out the atomic breath
>>11466521The figure itself or the box art? The box art is very plainly just a run of the mill image generation. That said I have seen some speculate the actual toy may have been designed with AI? In anycase I think it came out pretty cool looking.
>>11466521That pic was hot
>>11466521>>11466650I would not be surprised if it was designed by AI. Didn't hasbro recently sign a deal with an AI company to do just that?
NO ONE HAS ANSWERED MY QUESTION.
When is Hiya going to be releasing the Exquisite Basic Godzilla Evolved figure. I had on pre-order for months!
>>11466809mine's being shipped to me now
>>11466809It's been released in China, with Diamond dead and Purchased by NECA it'll probably be months before the legal mumbo jumbo surrounding distribution rights gets sorted and the figure getting an American release.
>>11466664Not sure about Hasbro, but Mattel is definitely getting involved with AI.
What's really weird is that people are getting it and reviewing it on Youtube; even Shimo is out.
>>11457748Looks ok, just derivative
>>11469269bout time, fuck bros. almost bought that bootleg.

>>11470242>prior to the tariff increase, the estimated price would have been $260-$280lol, that's one hell of a lie. Bandai hasn't based Western releases on the actual conversion rate since they purchased Bluefin. Pretending that it was ever going to be less than $300 for the global release is totally unserious
>>11470242This rate it feels like gonna be cheaper to just go to Japan and pick up the damn figures and fly on back this rate ffs.
>>11469594Guess Cookie Monster Godzilla of any kind is P-Bandai only, which means nothing to me since I already have the memorial box original and not gonna be bothered to get a slightly more suit color accurate re-issue.
>>11469269It's so bizarre it's taken this long to get a MonsterArts Showa Ghidorah.
>>11470372people don't buy Showa figures in anywhere near the volume that they do Heisei, so it's harder to justify making Showa figures.
>>11470372Well they technically did. They just canceled it and the mold prototype got stolen and made into the infamous bootleg figure.
>>11469269the bootleg cost me 30 bucks if i remember, its probably a bit bigger than this one and looks almost as good. I bet its sturdier and less fragile than this, I was surprised with the bootlegs wing material quality. The paint being actually golden on this one seems like the only difference, not sure if its worth what I assume is 200 bucks? They waited too long to release this one, should have been varan or baragon, or even the lobster guy

>>11457745 (OP)If it wasn't for the fact that it was a toy of "the wrong Godzilla," 1998 Ultimate Godzilla would have made an excellent case for being the best Godzilla toy. I had this summabitch and he was a lot of fun on top of being massive. He was the only Godzilla toy that could eat other action figures too, and there will probably never be one again because Toho apparently has a problem with that. To be fair though, Zilla is probably the only design where that play gimmick would work since his head was a lot bigger than the classic Godzilla unless the toy was like 3 feet tall.
>>11471202Jakks released a giant sized Legendary Goji some years back but it's lacking in all the fun play features and paint apps that guy had. Even Lanard's Kong, for as big as he was, is kind of just a brick. It highlights the importance of gimmicks on bigger toys like this.
FWIW the Mexicans still K.O. Ultimate Zilla to this day.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A2v_YsiBWhg
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IZhbptsIUz4
>>11471221Yeah, the dry brushing, washes and metallic paints really made Ultimate Zilla pop and contributed to him looking even bigger than he actually was. If I had one today I think the only real detail I could improve would be to either pop him open give him clear LED illuminated eyes or just paint some detail on them. Overall it was a terrific representation of the design let alone for a late 90s toy.
It's sad that the Jakks giant Godzilla was not re-issued, epsecially with so many shitty giant superhero figures clogging up store shelves over the last decade. A giant Godzilla toy makes a lot of sense although I suppose the only way to keep it from costing $100 would be to half ass it on the paint apps, which is a shame. The biggest and best Legendary Godzilla toy is still the Neca 2014 one although it's the 2014 design and not the superior KOTM design (which to be fare can be fixed if you are a very adventurous modder).
>>11471202>>11471644Ultimate Zilla was so good that Toho decided to just digitally scan him to make the CG model for Final Wars.

Honey, wake up, Bandai released another variant!
>>11473866No split mouth or beam? gaaaaay but I still might want it...
>>11473887But but but you get a papercraft art poster!!!! And you get to pay more than the last recolor versions!
Theyve got a few more lined up it in a teaser image.
Still waiting for the Destroyah reissue..
>>11473866>>11473961I hate how this is the only way to get Awakening Shingoji without raping your wallet.
>>11473961>>11473952>Biogoji is ยฅ3850 more expensive than the previous release, because it comes with a piece of carboard>>11473973>another fucking reissue of 54Good lord, why? The 2014 Goji is cool though, it's been ages since that got a reissue.
JUST RELEASE 84 GOJI I"VE BEEN WAITING FOR YEARS!!!!!
>>11473871why not back beams for this version? that would justify it's existence
>>11473866Placard is not an acceptable replacement for accessories bandai. Maybe I will still keep waiting for Hiyah.
>>11474519That wourd be 120 more yen to produce and .5 more ounceru for shipping prease undahstand
>>11474519$250 MSRP+Shipping+Tarrifs+Tax
>>11474972why not remove the poster to allow for the weight to even out ha
>>11474519If you take inflation into account, it's 1,600 yen cheaper than the version with the beams. So i guess you can say that those beams would cost you an extra 11 bucks
beams

>>11474983Idk what you're trying to tell us, you should understand by this point that Monsterarts are overpriced and have shit QC.
>>11474989i never said anything about price. im just posting what it could look like as a figure.
>>11474982and id buy it and so would other people who like the look
he is a lot smaller than regular Godzilla
makes me wonder how Kong will scale
>>11475219The actual skin looks a lot better than promo pics, spines still suck though
>>11475319i agree also some of his spines are way to soft
>>11474035The mouth isn't even split, idk when this is meant to represent it in the film.
>>11475592I wonder if they were just going to do another regular ShinGoji re-release but then changed it to the awakening version at the last minute.
For $200 Shin should've came with everything the original did. That stupid piece of cardboard that will probably be dent in box is not worth anything
>>11475219This is really nice Evolved Gojira Anon but I do prefer Godzilla when he's chunky. I guess I'm in the minority who thinks Evolved is a slight lanky downgrade
>>11475955Yeah I passed on it, it's a clear-cut downgrade.
Hiya will get around to Shin eventually and I'll be able to buy both versions for less than the cost of the cardboard+ edition SHMA.
Does anyone know if there were multiple releases of the basic shin godzilla? I am seeing a lot of review videos where some have white teeth, like prestine white, and some with yellow. I see the ones with yellow looking a bit better but I am not sure if it's just my imagination. I sort of like the 4th night, which is easier to get, but I really don't like the translucent elements. I really like the aspects of shin looking scabbed and bloody but I am not sure which to go for, let alone tell if an ebay seller has a base shin that is a first release or a rerelease with better paint apps, if it exists and not my imagination.
>>11476085night combat, not 4th night I mean
>SDCC exclusive Minusgoji is just another heat ray variation
Meh
New Candidate for worse Mechagozilla design.
>>11476193Looks like Legendary Mechagodzilla if designed by Michael Bay
>>11476193This scream early 2000s graphics card box to me, and I like it.
>>11476193What the hell is this from?
>>11476289from the looks of it, a ride of some kind
>>11476193I don't know how I feel about that design. I think the body is okay, but the face is a little too generic?
>>11476193Looks like something from chinese gachashit
>>11476289Theme park ride coming to standalone "Bootleg Soarin Over California" ride theaters worldwide and not just Japan this time.
>>11476187>>11476206So basically the one we just got minus a beam effect?
>>11476472no, it comes with them beam
>>11476479how is this different from the other heat ray version?
>>11476193Needs a head-crest.
It feels like a reimagining of Kiryu with that tail and chest shape.
Also, the fuck is going on with its mouth? like, you can see the definition of the jaw and the teeth, but it looks like it's got a mess of metal that completely fills its mouth, making the fact that it even has a mouth feel pointless.
>>11476500Think this one has slightly darker blue than the other one and lacks the plane.
>>11474761fuck all this SHMA bullshit, this is what I'm excited for
>>11476500No plane and it's available in America which the previous one wasnt be because it was a convention exclusive lottery figure.
>>11476030Everything about monsterslopverse is a downgrade.
>>11476030I don't think so. Evolved godzilla was fucking soulless. And I hope he goes back to normal in the new movie. Fatgoji was a staple to his new American design and it was dumb to stray away from it.
>>11476193It's the new Godzilla The Ride sequel releasing in August for those who needed to know. and say sequel since apparently it's a follow up to the one where Godzilla fought Ghidorah from few years back.
>>11476206Goji ate all the toothpaste again..
>>11476479>Glowing fins and beam accessoryI thought toys couldn't do this because Toho wouldn't allow it because it's technically not accurate because the fins stop glowing and sink back down right before he shoots the ray?
>>11476605...That's fucking stupid. Why is Bandai so fucking stupid? This whole line has gotten so fucking stupid! Holy shit. It's actually frustrating me to no end how annoying Monsterarts is to try to collect now.
>>11478976>how annoying Monsterarts is to try to collect now. They've been annoying to get since like 2014-2016. Only ones I ever got were the first couple of releases like Mothra, Spacegodzilla, Godzilla Birth Version, GMK Godzilla, and spitfire 2014.

>>11479566i'm one of them, but i'm ok with it surprisingly
this new one looks like an improvement in every single way
but i hope for a size increase the most
>>11479475god, fucking damnit.
>>11479475Not falling for this one either i want my full on kaioken crackling pinkzilla
Is SH the only company with Shin rights or is there a possibly of a Hiya toys one?

$75 ichibansho p/o, not sure if Shin's a rerelease of the older ichiban kuji.
>>11471202>He was the only Godzilla toy that could eat other action figures too, and there will probably never be one again because Toho apparently has a problem with that.Because Godzilla doesn't eat people
Gyaos eats people, Gyaos is based.
>>11482460Well, there was Godzilla Minus One...
>>11482708Minus One didn't eat anyone in the film, at most he bites a whole ass traincar and people fall out. And no, not even pre-atomic goji at Odo island ate anyone. He grabs a guy with his mouth and flings him away. It's weird so many people came away with this misconception.
>>11482708>Well, there was Godzilla Minus One...Toho's official stance is that Godzilla must not be depicted preying on people. Toho claims that in Minus One Godzilla tossed those people around/in his mouth but he did not swallow. In this officially licensed Godzilla: Monsters and Protectors, we can see Godzilla swallowing some Army dudes. I would think Toho's lawyers signed off on this so maybe their stance is changing.
