Seriously, ever since the 90s lots of studios just make a few views of characters and their faces instead of approaching the design with being able to draw the characters from 360deg of view. Even old Hannah Barbara cartoons from the 60s still could be made into 3D figurines and toys while maintaining decent fidelity with the 2D animation designs. And it's not just western shit, some anime cannot be made into 3D forms without looking weird due to stylized views of the characters' faces.
