Would it be economical to start a buisness that prints lego stickers as waterslide decals, pre applies them, and marks each piece up by 5$?

I saw solid bricksstudios do this, and this would legit take me like a minute to do, and making 5$ perpiece means id get 50$ orders in, for like 10 minutes of work and 2$ worth of supplies. Would this be something people are interested in?

Start a regular waterslide decal printing service instead? There's always demand for those. Not sure what value pre-applying adds.

Yeah, Tampo machines, i.e. what waterslides are substituting for in the first place, on the consumer end.

Right, the well known companies can do this kind of thing. Starting from the ground up, you're going to spend at a minimum, many months just trying to build awareness and get your name out there, making just a few bucks a month. You're also not factoring in other things like boxes, packing supplies, ink/paper for labels, time packing, driving to and from the post office so your profit margins are probably even smaller than whatever you're imagining.

What about your shipping costs?

There are companies like Eclipse Grafx that print on the actual Lego bricks the same way The Lego Company do for minifigs etc. Nobody is going to want waterslide decals that will get scratched off if you look at them the wrong way.

Yeah, UV printing. That's the way to do it. That or Tampo printing but tampo is much more expensive to do. UV printing will require a UV printer that'll run you up to 3 grand. Either of those are a quick way to set you ahead of most doing this kind of thing. I think OPs idea of waterslide decals starting with no other product is doomed to fail
