How come Fairly OddParents only got toys from 2003 to 2005 and then afterwards, barely got any toys afterwards aside from recently with Funko Pops? Nickelodeon was hoping to turn OddParents into a Rugrats or SpongeBob in terms of merchandise, but they gave up on it after 2005, even though the show was in production until 2017
>>11483876 (OP)Shows from that era weren't meant to sell toys, they were meant to get kids to watch commercials, and those sold the toys
>>11483880SpongeBob and Rugrats sold a boatload of toys though, especially the Sponge
I seem to recall there being something about Butch Hartman owning the toy rights and doing nothing with them?
>>11483876 (OP)Something to do with new contracts or some shit
>the only fop merchandise made within the last decade were those five below minifigures
fuckin grim
>>11483876 (OP)cuz that's when the show was at it's height in popularity
>>11483876 (OP)I do't recall FOP being marketable. I don't believe they even needed it
>>11483876 (OP)Pretty sure it was a copyright issue due to it partially being owned by fredarator
>>11483876 (OP)because the people involved in these shows scoff at toys and don't see it as a viable source of revenue
