so I'm personally starting to feel a bit swamped with boxes (pic not mine I just stole it) and I don't have enough space to have everything displayed at once but I often like having figures and toys handy for play and photos.
So how does /toy/ manage their collections? how do you store them? and do you just toss the boxes?

For the record I collect both import and domestic figures.

I mostly buy Lego, but most figures I have get opened and the box tossed. I also used to keep the Lego boxes but I ended recycling most of them except a handful for very expensive sets. I just hate that sometimes the packaging is really nice. I have a Where's Waldo/Wally fig with a box I just don't want to toss.

I store undisplayed figures in totes and keep them in some cabinets in my toy room. It's all domestic stuff though, my imports are all displayed. I do have a handful that I should probably look to get rid of since I've upgraded them to newer figures. But I keep my import boxes at a storage locker my parents have so it's kind of a pain to go get boxes in order to sell.

As for accessories, I sort those in those plastic tackle boxes you get from bass pro shop and keep all those readily accessible in my toy room with my other stuff.

Forgot to mention, I only really keep import boxes for resale value. I toss al,most all my domestic boxes unless I like the art they used or something, then I Todd out the plastic bubble, flatten out the box and file it away.

I throw them out unless they are extremely nice or come with something big I am not displaying and keep in the box. I keep all parts in poly bags in wheeled drawers that are separated by brand or use.

If I am thinking I am going to resell it then I just am not going to buy the figure.

yeah the domestic stuff is like whatever, it's more the import figures I have a hard time getting rid of because of the resale value, no one cares about a transformers box but some may care about a figma box.

the Polybag idea seems nice, and theres no issue of them fucking up plastics right?

just for illustrative purposes

Yes that's why you get Polypropylene bags versus regular bags since they won't react chemically with the plastics with long term storage.

thanks for the info, been reading this and I might start putting my import figures not on display in those in a drawer and store the boxes in storage.

You'll lose out on maximum resale value, but it's really rare an in-demand import figure will sell below what you paid for it even without a box.
If you're considering the resale value of something when you buy it, you orobably didn;t want it that much in the first place. So keep that in mind.

18 gallon Sterilite containers from Wal-mart. Very cheap and stackable.
I keep the boxes. I don't like the idea of not having all the extra parts sorted. There is also potential resale.

Box hoarding when you are not an inbox collector sounds super retarded unless you are a poorfag that is constantly on the verge of selling everything to survive
>b-but what if I move to another place
Bubble wrap, Styrofoam and resealable bags are enough

I mean I don't buy things because of resale value, it's more a thing of "if I ever do feel like getting rid of this its nice to have the box" because speaking of personal experiences its nice to get the box with me from second hand, but I'll keep it in mind.

I think it’s fine to keep the import boxes if you have space like an attic. That way if you ever just fall out of love with something you can usually sell it for more and use the proceeds for a treat. Like I’ve resold a few nendoroids after I decided to stop collecting them for mostly 4x what I paid, which wouldn’t have been the case without the boxes. It’s not poorfag thinking to want a bit of money for things you sell on.

i throw my boxes in the trash where they belong, i buy figures to play with, i also don't give a shit any longer if my figures are perfect, life is too fucking short to not take your figures out in the mud and occasionally have them lose a limb during an intense fire fight!

I buy a bunch of plastic cabinets, like whatever sterilite generic or Container Store Like-it (not the modular ones). Harbor Freight/Ross also sell those big mini shelves for accessories. For lego, i have that cart with the shelves built in, so I can moc in place
