>>11486136 (OP)A picture of a man curled up on a giant Snorlax plushy being used to imply that adults buying toys is something that should be looked down upon, but there's a few things about this image that should be considered.
1. This is a promotional photo and the expression on the guy's face is the same that you will find in any furniture catalogue, ESPECIALLY for bean bags, because the idea is that it's supposed to make it seem like that whatever they're sitting on is the most comfortable and joyous thing they've ever experienced. Just like every other ad.
2. Flipping the title to "3/4 of all toys sales are still dedicated to buying toys for children" gives a new perspective.
3. This image has the IGN logo on it. IGN is a GAMING website. It wasn't that long ago that playing video games was considered a childish activity, but a lot of companies and advertising firms spent millions of dollars over multiple decades to change that public perception. First it was aimed at kids, then they added in gratuitous violence to try and appeal to teenagers, then they started advertising using hot babes and teaming up with junk food to appeal to the college bro market, and now they've rebranded to show that gaming is for "everyone" by pumping out endless articles about how "you're still a gamer even if you're a middle-aged woman playing Candy Crush on her phone!"
It's all just consumerism and we're all dying, so fuck it I'm gonna buy another MOTU action figure.
