That cell legit looks better than the SHF one. Not trying to bash SHF so don't think I agree with that retard. Is this the only case that dragon stars works better than the SHF version?

Iโ€™m a NEET but started collecting imports this year lol. Chipping away at my savings by buying several figures around $100. Luckily I donโ€™t have any other expenses because I still live with my parents so I can afford it. And Iโ€™ve been selling off old stuff too so it sort of balances out. I still feel guilty about it though. I wish I could get a job and feel a bit less guilty about spending so much money on toys but itโ€™s impossible. Being a wage slave is literally a luxury in current year :(

Do you think Perfect Cell 2.0 will ever hit the budget SHF series? Perfect Cell is cool and all so having a decent one would be nice, but he's not a character I care enough to go 60 in for. I buy expensive figs so it's less price (though aftermarket on Cell 2.0 is still a no) and more I don't care enough for X to spend Y. If he'd never hit the budget line then I may just pick this up at some point.

No. Budget releases are reserved for the main character and maybe his rival. Goku, Naruto, Tanjiro. They bank on people buying these at places like Target and Walmart, getting into the line, and wanting to complete teams or whatever and having to resort to paying regular SHF pricing. You got Deku for $30 but also want Bakugo to hang out with him? $70-$80 at retail, not even the secondary market. So no, don't expect Perfect Cell 2.0, if they even ever actually make him, to he a budget release. $65 at the minimum.

to be quite honest with you guys, I've come to the conclusion that if I want to invest money into my hobby, into collecting figures, might as well buy some good shit even if I have to invest a bit more money in it. If I have to buy less but better products then that's a good deal in my book

Basically what the other reply said, it'll be 60+ at least at first. In the really long run they might make a Best Selection or stripped down release to sell at the $35 price point at retail. But the $60+ release will always come first and the stripped down version may or may not exist. The budget halo Frieza was originally a more expensive figure.

That's the conclusion most people in this hobby and statue collecting eventually reach if they're in it long enough, I think. A cheap figure now and then is fine, especially if you like D-listers that have no chance of even getting made as higher-end figures. But money will keep coming in, while space will keep running out.

The kids' toy Valen action figure has embossed and gold painted logos that are part of the sculpt while the SHF has shitty decals. Are budget figures becoming too powerful?

Same. I'm extremely poor so I decided early on that it's best to avoid cheaper figures. My collection is probably smaller than most here, but they're almost all imports (Revo, Mafex, Medicos, Storm Collectibles). I spend a lot less than the average Hasbro/McFarlane consumer and I never feel the need or urge to "complete" lines or get every variant out there (cheaper figure traps).

That would kill enthusiasm and just make elitist echo chambers. Everyone starts somewhere, gatekeeping ensures fewer people get the chance to. That's how you kill a franchise. You may not like like Mutant Mayhem for instance, but someone does.
