Has there ever been a case where you ended up preferring the less accurate figure over a more accurate one? I had the chance to buy either the Figma or Figuarts and settled on the Figma in the end; the Figuarts is definitely more anime accurate, she's borderline spot-on to the animation and the outfit is a dead ringer for the OP, but somehow she looks...off? I can't tell what it is, the show looks gorgeous so it's not a case of "weird looking media gets weird looking toy". Admittedly, the Figma was just a better figure all round, and it was also based on the manga art so they both fulfil different niches, but there's something strangely uncanny about the SHF. Unless it's unflattering stock photos? The Sailor Moon Figuarts I have got the look absolutely right and they look great...weird.

Sorry, should have thought to do that. My bad.
So here's the manga cover art that the first OP outfit is based on.

It was so fucking retarded how the figma one has zero torso articulation, also the head stands too tall on the neck, but yeah the figuarts looks way worse and has a dead stare

Iโ€™m liking the figma more the detail in the hair vents & petticoat is better than the SHF even if the shf is more accurate to the anime the fine detail of the bishojo manga art looks better on a 3D model

I got both of these because Iโ€™m a big CCSfag, I find them both pretty nice to look at and pose with different strengths, being they do really look like the anime and manga versions. SHF had such a superior stand and scaled Kero as well as some extra movement, though, even though I like the figmaโ€™s overall sculpt better. I just wish Mei Ling and Yue had gotten figures during this period, too.

Myself I'm kinda mad we never got a uniform Syaoran, would have been fun to have him in non-combat outfit to match Tomoyo and uniform Sakura. But yes, Meilin and Yue would have been great.

This is also sad, Iโ€™d have loved to have him to hang out with uniform Tomoyo and Sakura.

However, I believe the biggest sin of all was making this outfit a figfix with no accompanying figma, Iโ€™m salty as hell over it

This one was an underrated release even though she was a bit fiddly. Gigantic wand, posed flying kero, sitting option parts, cute little crown.

CCS is a fave anime of mine, I usually just choose and buy from a single line and stick to it incase multiple manufacturers make poseable figures of characters I want but I made an exception and bought both lines years ago

>>11492199
SHF CCS(op1 and 2) is pretty nice in person but figmoes forte is animu girls so Bandai never had a chance, to bad I kinda wanted op3 dress

>>11492203
Me too, would loved a Meiling and Syaoran two pack in school uniform, heck even just Meiling in school uniform would have been an easy reuse of the school uniform Sakura and Tomoyo bodies

>>11492209
I bought it even though I don't collect statues, CCS made me break that vow for me, got the GSC bonus too, they could have made this a figma instead, I think this is also the last figfix released from what I remember before the line ended

Literally all the time. Screen accuracy is a cancer in toys. It has made toys incredibly boring.
Look at the Kenner Jurassic Park toyline, especially the humans. Now look at the mattel humans. Which would you rather own? The ones that came with weapons, armor, little cages and dinosaurs? Or the one that's a guy in a shirt with a flare for an accessory? Accuracy is stupid for toys.

To be fair, I always took it as the SHF being closer to the anime vs the Figma being closer to the manga art. So there's no right or wrong answer depending on what look you want.

Yes. I am not a huge fan of the general visual style of Amazing Yamaguchi but they come with so much fun stuff and pose so well that it often makes up for it. I usually wind up picking them over more accurate stuff like Mafex when the costume isn't too far from how I see the character.

>Screen accuracy is a cancer in toys
I would argue that this is almost exclusively a movie toy problem. Toys based on other mediums usually have plenty of interesting accessories to choose from.

I think the Revoltech style is a problem. For the freedom you get with posing, you get a loose piecey thing that comes apart because something's too heavy. I'll compromise with tight joints and a bare minimum

I have just gotten pretty lucky with only grabbing releases without huge issues by sheer chance.

NTA, but they were fine for characters like Grant and Malcolm who still somewhat resembled their characters but came with some dinos and extra shit to make them more playable, but could be used without that shit if you wanted to reenact movie scenes. But Nedry might as well have been an OC character. I get their thinking, no kid wants to play with a fat dude with glasses, but if it had at least ONE thing that resembled the character like his Hawaiian shirt or his yellow raincoat from his death scene, it would have been something at least.

SHF = kigurumi.
Something is off between the head and the body.
I guess they simply got a body template, and put some outfit on top of it.

I guess the figma is sculpted from the head to the toe from scratch.

McFarland is a greedy bitch for not just casting the skin parts in skin color instead of painting it. The skin looks like concrete. Hes also fucking retarded for doing the face like that. The eyes or mouth should be emoting more. Like they should be curves under her eyes to show shes smiling. The expression reminds me of like unprofessional made or older mascot costumes that would do a similar dead stare thanks to the lack of expression. Todd is such a dumb fuck. Hope he goes bankrupt after buying a gay signed baseball again.
