Back in the day when I collected comics in the 90s, assholes would just pull out a Beckets magazine or whatever price guide at the time and charge what the mag said.

Modern comics are in the toilet. They're no longer widely available at every book store, convenience, store, and everywhere else like they used to be. They've become a niche market, and it's entirely because of woke content. Even then most buyers prefer "collected editions" to spare them the trouble of actual collecting.
