man Hasbro really was tone deaf with this one

I'm honestly low key hoping it doesn't fund, I know hasbro will take the wrong lessons from it but they need to know that this should have been $350 tops and just a Pulse Exclusive. Also according to people they did focus group with late last year it was originally priced at $350.

They likely would have had people buying multiples. I would have bought two at that price point.
$500 with fees is just way too much for something that doesn't quite feel it makes the cut for Haslab.

I think the gunship looks fantastic and it's a huge improvement over the older mold, but I have the old Vintage Collection one and the Tiger Shark version too. At 450, I just can't bring myself to buy it when the old ones are still great toys. Would have definitely bought at 350, would probably have bought two at 325 or less, but I'm gonna pass at 450.

Let's take the retail price of $120 TVC from 2013 and inflation and 20% on top of that would be $198.71 exactly. So really the ship itself without figures should be no more than $250, Hasbro 100% does inflation costs now due to the shareholders demanding. It has also been openly said by various ex Hasbro employees final say on pricing and deco they finalize is from a particular Vice President and if he comes in under budget (increase price, remove alt hand, remove deco) they will get personal bonuses in the tune of tens of thousands. So that's what your working against.

yeah and the crickets on this thread and many others across various platforms speaks volumes. The amount of engagement is far less than during the Cantina and I don't think it's because of people losing interest in the line but more people want stuff they want.
If I were Hasbro I would hold off on the next Haslab release a $350 made to order Shuttle, focus on stuff people want. Do some more cool EU 3 or 4 packs, end the retro line and move all resources from there to TVC. (I know it doesn't work like that but really just end it and focus on TVC)
This is for Hasbro if they read this thread, it's not because no one doesn't want prequel stuff or a gunship even it's just the price point and the optics.

Boom sell out for sure. I think the old one is good enough maybe with some minor adjustments.

I'm dragging my feet for no real reason but I'll back one. But I would like at least two tier figs unlocked so I can sell them and recoup some money. Though that may be a tall order seeing as how even 8k backers does not seem to be a guaranteeโ€ฆ Honestly if it fails to back, I would not mind at all. I can live without it and I would save the money and space and potential buyer's remorse.

Also the more I think about it, the tiers really annoy me. I thought the idea was to have a way to put out figures that otherwise had no chance at retail. Surely they could've gotten these Jedi out some other way. There were a lot of other options that would've been cooler and more enticing to collectors. Nute Gunray, Rune Haako, Poggle, young Boba, fucking San Hill. These guys are never getting made. But most likely they went with those Jedi so they can reuse that tooling later. Ugh.

>>11509299
Yeah I agree. That would have been great. New collectors get another chance at a decent gunship that does what it needs to. Old collectors can easily skip. I am guessing they may not have the tooling for it anymore which is why they decided to make a new one and use it as the Haslab

If they're leaning into prequel era nostalgia, now would be a great time for them to make a pod racing show. Make it like the old speed racer series. Have a cast of wacky characters, gangsters trying to fix races, and all that stuff that would work perfectly using already existing concepts.

The N1 run in Mando already shows they already remade some of the environment.

Every one of these has been boring garbage.

15 years ago the razorcrest would have had light up engines, a slow open motorized ramp at the back, and some kind of neat "working" carbon freeze chamber at the bare fucking minimum. Instead it's just a big model shell with removable panels. The ghost is even worse. This gunship is a joke.

The size is fine, that's not the issue, the issue is it's not definitive enough to justify haslab pricing, if it had
>front side bay door panels correctly on hinges like the back side door panels, instead of just popping on and off
>AT-RT that folds up to fit inside and can exit from the back ramp (or at least explicit compatibility with a separately-released AT-RT)
>floodlights that swap out with the gunner pods for its umbara and coruscant appearances
>lucky lekku and padme art panels
I would buy at least two even if all that jacked the price up to $600, but as-is I just dont want it at all because it's not a perfect enough replacement for the imperfect gunship I already have, and I imagine that's the bigger contributing factor here than price for people - if it was better, the price wouldn't feel so bad; the price feels bad because it's a clearly imperfect offering, and that forces you to take a harder look at the price.

I don't think the issue is really the size. Most people don't have that much space anyway. And while I hate Disney shit, the Crest and Ghost are much more "fun" items. The crest has a toilet and a weapons locker and various other compartments. The Ghost has different rooms for the characters to do stuff in. Both those ships have some great details on their interiors that provide more opportunity for "play". People are talking about the gunship's details but it's mostly just boring greebles and all figures will do with it is stand in the main bay.

The gunship also has the worst tiers. The escape pod and carbonite blocks are cool extras on the Crest. And the Rebels figures are great with unique sculpts, striking looks, and useful accessories. Meanwhile the gunship Jedi are just so boring. Three brown background Jedi and they all have green sabers. They will feel like three of the same figure just with a different head.

I really like the LAAT so I'm begrudgingly backing one but the value isn't there. It's not a very fun or visually interesting item and the unlocks are a joke, not that we are getting them anyway which drops the value even further

>the Crest and Ghost are much more "fun" items.
this is bullshit.
You have no idea how much more fun and useful troop carriers are, especially when they're also attack vehicles.

Having so much open compartment space also means there's way more interaction with the insides with your toys, not just because it's easier, but because you can fit more inside there. Vs normally just one in a single space.

I mean, have you even seen a military movie? Shit is planned out in troop carriers all the time. They're mobile HQs. Which can then turn into a rescue mission when all your leaders get shot down in some surprise attack. This requires you to have a second or third LAAT for the rescue mission, or just put a bunch of random scrap pieces on the ground with your leaders laying around, and use your only LAAT as the rescue vehicle.

There's a hundred million uses for a troop carrier and is far more interactive and fun than some lame cargo vessel that had a few guns strapped on. It's design is specifically multi-purposeful, but at the same time, can do multiple jobs EXTREMELY well. It's decked the fuck out in weaponary, so it can be attack ship or its own escort vessel. It can actually ferry a good amount of troopers from one place to another, unlike almost any star wars vehicle before it.

Honestly, it doesn't sound like you ever play with your toys and don't have an imagination, muchless like WARS.

Inflation is a thing, if the Razor Crest came out today itโ€™d cost $435, which is just about what the Gunship costs. The Gunship also includes an extra figure in the base offering, so accounting for that theyโ€™re pretty much equal.

If it's $35 might as well just pay for Premium and get free shipping for the rest of the year. I did that for the Cantina and that shit more than paid for itself before the year was even halfway over. Of course it helped that there were good exclusives like the Anakin 3 pack.

They've already done it with the Ghostbusters Proton Pack and the G.I. Joe team gave an answer in their SDCC panel that there's a 3 year wait between when they can re-release HasLab items, following some stipulations like deco and features. It's probably why they didn't include a Lucky Lekku panel in this because they want to have a card to play later.

What the did here is criminal. The Ghost is 5x the size of the Razorcrest in Micro Galaxy. (As it is in the show)

If you watched the show 3 of them could walk up the ramp into the ship at once. In the Haslab not even 1 figure can stand up in it.

1 figure can't even properly fit in the shuttle which in the show fits the entire team.

So fucking stupid.

They should focus on major ships that are feasible, if they felt the Snowspeeder was possible for Empire's 40th anniversary, and the FO Tie was popular enough, they could have made an A Wing and Interceptor for Jedi's 40th. They're small enough to work in BS.

ANH's 50th is two years away and I could see them doing the standard Tie and Vader's Tie Advance. They could do Lukes X Wing, it would be the largest ship by far but it's iconic enough, and the 50th is a big deal, so it could be done.

I mostly collect BS cause I like the larger figures and they're only ten dollars more or less than Vintage at this point. But I sometimes pick up the major cast for Vintage.

You could say every haslab is overpriced. Difference is TVC has (or had) a dedicated base that is willing to pay whatever the price is just because they want the thing that badly and/or want to support the line. If black series collectors really wanted a rancor, they would have paid $300 for it. If TBS was to get another haslab, it wouldn't be under $500. There is honestly nothing Hasbro would offer for $500+ that 8k TBS collectors would be willing to buy. The collector base is just too casual and too cheap. And not to mention shrinking because Star Wars is dead

The Cantina is shipping soon so I looked up the list of cantina patrons I'll need to catch up on. Surprisingly not that long of a list compared to when I was trying to catch up on Barge/Palace figures.

Some of them I can safely omit because they're special edition trash, some of them are background characters so obscure I do not remember ever seeing them / cannot be arsed to buy them, and some like Labria and Wolfman are so outdated I don't think they'd fit with modern figures.

Grabbing some low hanging fruit and ordered the Duros guy, Boshek, and a Kabe and Muftak two pack off eBay but the other "iconic" characters all seem like they're in the $80 to $160 price range so I'll have to dripfeed those in once a month over the coming season or two.

If they were to scale it accurately, the X-Wing would be a bit larger than the Classified Cobra Rattler and that was $325 without having to factor in Lucasfilm licensing. The Snowspeeder is a much smaller vehicle and retailed for $120 five years ago, before we had to deal with Covid inflation and tariffs. I think minimum expectations for pack-ins would be a new pilot body for Luke and a flight stand. Stretch goals would have to be something like a ladder for climbing into the cockpit, a figure of Biggs and maybe some ground crew techs in order to complete this scene. I really don't see it being any cheaper than $475 and that's being generous.

Biggs would be cool, they could also have a stretch goal to include vines and shit to mimic it crashed on Dagobah like they did with a previous 3.75 release, could throw in Darth Vader with Lukeโ€™s head underneath too and a Dagobah R2 on the new astromech body.

Also I should note for the new Luke I would also demand he has swappable gloveless arms and glove accessories to make it accurate and unique. That way they could release the updated pilot body into the mainline at some point and it wouldn't necessarily be the same figure.

Mr Stevie teasing upcoming prequel vehicles. Honestly, why isn't there one included with the Haslab? Lego has almost every time included a little speeder or walker with their gunships and turbo tanks. Sucks there is nothing extra with this gunship and you will have to spend more on DLC later to complete it.

I like everything in the sequel era, exept for the actual plot of the movies. I think they should remake the movies with all the avaliable footage and recut everything to actually make sense and rell a coherent story. The new ship designs, most of the new aliens, and the different planet designs are cool. But they're overshadowed by the amature writing and infighting between directors.

Reminder that Mattel, not exactly known for being the best with fans, just:

>Did a fan vote for a crowdfund with almost entirely all great designs
>Put out an even more involved, larger prototype for the fan winner
>Cancelled it when fans criticized the design for being too different from what they voted for and too expensive
>Put out the runner up of the vote anyway
>Just revealed a new version of the original winner, much closer to the proposed art and less expensive
>Fans say it's still too expensive and are worried the best tier won't be included, so Mattel switches the tiers around one day before it goes live to automatically include two headed snake horse, giving more value and the best part of the set guaranteed so long as it funds

If only Hasbro and Disney could get their heads out of their ass and do *anything* worthwhile with the biggest merchandising IP in existence.

I think the problem here isn't that people don't want a new gunship, but that given the price it's not that much of an upgrade over the ones Hasbro already put out over the years. The original LAAT mold that's been used and updated since 2002 isn't bad, it's definitely small but collectors are used to 3.75" vehicles being undersized for practical reasons. The new one is very nice looking and a more accurate size, but they're asking $450 for it and I think people are seeing that price and deciding that the previous gunships are good enough.

I think it's be a different case if the original version was just woefully inadequate. Imagine if Hasbro had just kept using the vintage/POTF2 mold for the X-Wing and never made any new versions of it before showing off a new accurately sized X-Wing as a Haslab. To get people to drop close to $500 on something they already have it needs to be a huge upgrade.

The haslabs are grossly overpriced. I think they are just trying to see how much they can get away with before ending haslab, at least for star wars. Like look at the cantina. So much hollow plastic. The booths, chairs, tables, etc. all have the same reused sculpts. Most of the elements to it have a very simplistic design as well that wouldn't be too difficult for a 3D sculptor to create. It probably cost them very little to make but they charged a whopping $500 for it. The gunship I can see being a lot more involved on the design front and they said they spent months sculpting it. But even then, it probably won't cost that much to actually produce especially when I'm sure they will skimp on the weathering deco on the final product as they did with the Ghost. If they can release Mando's N1 and Vader's TIE for under $150, I think the price of the gunship is disproportionately high when you compare how much more there is with it versus those starfighters.

But with the tariffs, I presume for a second made-to-order, preorder campaign the overall cost will be more expensive than the first run. Honestly I think Hasbro would be a better steward of the Star Wars IP than Disney. That is not a glowing endorsement of Hasbro so much as it is an indictment of Disney and Lucasfilm.

Also consider that back in the 80s, when Kenner saw that Star Wars sales were dipping with no new movie on the horizon, they pitched George Lucas the idea of doing a Clone Wars cartoon to keep the toy line going, the same way Hasbro was having wild success with GI Joe at the time. George Lucas came back to them with Ewoks and Droids, with the same stylish but bizarre animation from the Star Wars Holiday Special that simply couldn't compete with the likes of Sunbow and Rankin Bass's Japanese outsourced animation (he'll, look at what DiC was able to do with MASK).

There wouldn't have been a Star Wars dark age in the 80s and 90s if Lucas had worked with Kenner and made a serious effort to turn Star Wars into an action cartoon empire, although the flip side is we might never have gotten the EU, which was born out of the drought of Star Wars on screen media. Looking at where Star Wars is right now though, a buyout from Hasbro doesn't sound half bad.

Toys would be in a better state and we might have gotten a marginally better sequel trilogy and one or two kiddy animated shows. Probably no other content because they couldn't afford it. But since all of Disney's Star Wars content is worthless that would still be an improvement

Just jack the price to $120 or whatever to account for 2nd run tariffs, people would understand. Also, just because tariffs doesn't mean Hasbro going to give up selling *Made in China* toys to the US market. Tariffs argument make no sense. We still have shit on preorders and announced.

Yes, tariffs cut both ways, consumer and seller. Yes maybe the cost is fully offloaded to consumer, but if figures cost more, people are going to be more selective with their purchase and buy less glup shittos. The bottom line is still money, it would be baffling if there's no 2nd production run on this year exclusive.

My thoughts exactly. And I feel like there's room for interpretation with trying to represent character models from such a dated game. Bastilla and Malak aren't exactly 1:1 with their designs from Kotor 1, but they still look like they should to me.

And thanks, I'll try turning the belt around later. May just cut off the hood on the tunic as well. I've got it smooshed down right now, but it's making his cape bulge more than I'd like.

They want to deplete the con stock first, but due to the frenzy yesterday Black Series 2pack and Marvel Legends 3 pack were a shitshow. Some people got duplicated orders that have to be sorted out, that's why couple leftovers batches went in stock at random times.

If it gets 100 backers per day and maybe a last minute surge of 2k (which may be too optimistic at this rate) it'll just barely cross 8k. We won't even get Coleman Trebor at 10k. Not hitting a single tier makes it likely for people to start cancelling as well and then it won't even fund. Wasn't the rancor like fucking 5 backers or something away from funding? I could see something similar happening here.

Hasbro's gotta sweeten the pot and add something. For free I mean, not like telling people they will be able to buy Sabine and Chopper later.

Speaking of the pilots, it irritates me they made one carded and one loose and acted like they were thinking of both types of collectors. Why not just make both of them carded and we can decide what we want to do with them like wtf? They really cheaped out on one more cardback?

Also, there's someone in my local area who dogears the shit out of all the carded figures at every store that has them, regardless if they're shelf warmers. Put the whole thing in boiling water for a few seconds, gently pull the leg and head.

Use a dremel or stationary drill long and big enough to go through the leg in one shot.

Run your filment and profit!

>Realistically its daily average needs to be closer to 83-88 per day accounting for a 2000-2500 surge in the last 5 days, which is more than doable in my opinion. Today was a slower day with about 61 backers, but apparently weekends are slower for these types of things so we'll have to see if it picks back up on the week days.

Anon do what Hasbro did, treat it like design from Aspyr remake since Malak and Bastilla were from it.
Btw it looks fucking awesome and now I need to get both and do the same.

I feel bad for Steve but I wonder whose really making all these bad choices.
Why not at least tease all the cool stuff coming out that could interact with the Haslab.

Hasbro team if this fails don't take away TVC Haslabs are bad or even ships, take away this was tone deaf and should have been a $350 made to order release. If not go with the data people want the Deathstar, Marauder, U-Wing, Imperial Shuttle and Outrider the most time and time again they are the most demanded.

I am shock that after that horrible stormtrooper Commander from the 3.75 black series that they going to fuck up the next new mold for snowtrooper

They hit this one out of the park

I am waiting for the four pack and to find where I put the eweb blaster then I can I act out that image when you search snow trooper in film.

I wish they did something to stop the clothes skirt from fraying.
They did that for the clones special commando

Anybody know how to deal with the skirt to stop it from fraying?

My 3 year old loves it so I've watched it a lot. I think it's a pretty good show for what it is, both like you said in the writing and the animation. The only thing that's weird to me is that it is all still canon to Disney Star Wars, so it makes me wonder if we'll ever see Nubs' species in live action at some point. I'm actually a bit sad they don't make new toys for it. There are lots of characters that would be fun to build out that world and add to my kid's collection.

Doesn't look like it's the same seller as the TVC clones, seems to be multiple other sellers listing them, will definitely check them out if they make a blank/white one though. The TVC clone listing also updated again, biggest highlight being the 212th airborne, it looks absolutely perfect

Black Series didn't have to worry about the Rancor succeeding because the profit margins on the figures themselves are high. TVC's are not and instead relies on the sales of larger things like the playsets and vehicles to make the money. HasLabs are a big chunk of that and is the reason why that line has been given the majority of the Star Wars campaigns since it's a near guaranteed several millions of dollars straight to Hasbro. But as soon as that cow stops producing milk then it isn't going to be worth keeping around for them.
