Prices on everything just feel insane nowadays. I prefer them to the Barbie ones but $70 each isn't worth it even for megafans.
Mildly related but the articulated Bratz body is so fugly, I hope they make some new designs using the classic one instead.

New Jem preorders go up on the TLS website tomorrow. Don't ask me for what, exactly. They were borderline radio silent at SDCC on the brand then just sort of announced this online a week later to no real fanfare, the image just using recycled 80s character art so your guess is as good as mine, let alone if the items will be general release or exclusives.

>Reception on the SDCC set was extremely lukewarm too, thanks to the price, let alone no one actually getting it until November!

John Warden seems to have no enthusiasm f9r the property, can they get no one else to handle it? Or are the rumors true that Christy Marx still has controlling interest in the line & is damn near impossible to work with because she will barely let anyone do anything with the brand now? I have to think she's why there's no Vocaloid crossover- a thing that would push a revival hard, seeing as Hasbro has 3 Miku crossovers already(they just announced Magic the Gathering Miku cards) and Miku crosses over with damn near anything else, but hey, don't do an obvious one that makes sense.

Also l o l on all the old women on Facebook saying these look like trannies because the heads are small and the tits are big.

Uh, the jem doll was the best looking doll at Walmart last year. She looked like a normal adult woman. All the other fashion dolls enlarge the head to make the characters look more neotenious.

Wood, do these people even remember the giant foreheads on the classic dolls.

You can

1. Resell the dolls if you hate them. A lot of dumb women on Facebook are already complaining about them looking like drag queens. Like always, these same people will pay triple when the dolls are no longer in production and they have to have them.
2. You could learn to customize them a d swap the heads and reboot the hair

I dont think there is any shame in buying them and seeing how it goes.

Whats the worst thing thst will happen? You gift them oe do them to some kids? Sell them and lose 25% if they bomb?

Lets just hope they make the misfits hot since they dont have to be good.

Just the way of things when it comes to Disney. When they think something is a girl's property, this is what they do.

With Frozen, you had to go to the park to get a plush of Marshmallow. Most of the toys were dolls of the two girls.

Kim possible was the worst. It was almost all dolls and half the products were her as a cheerleader. There was like 2 plush Rufus dolls and a magnet feet fig of Ron. We did not get a single villain despite them being half the cast.

The "drag queen" comments were largely from "real women look like anime women" fans. They also wanted reissues of the 80s dolls despite them not aging well. No lights is a pointless complaint as the doll would have no torso movement & a neck swivel at most.

YThe Pizzazz proto was based on her box art, not the ugly animatiion model, so that was something...

>>11518707
>long time
Must suck having crumbs on a forgotten franchise. You had, what? The overpriced Integrity line which is ugly? That bomb of a movie? The "diversity" IDW books? Even the 40th anniversary has had barely anything to it. The only way it could be worse off is if Randy Pitchford owned it.

I red flag it for the band not being out day one. They were clearly wary of sales on a forgotten IP not doing well & John Warden gives off serious "I don't like this brand" vibes(his Hasbro firing got bad press because it left him destitute- him working on MASK is them throwing him a bone). But th ebigger red flag is a radio silence on th ebrand after February, then suddently dropping 2 demanded characters as expensive exclusives(Glitter & Gold Jem should have been that), then announcing the 4 new dolls 1 WEEK after SDCC rather than at SDCC with a massive retail markup. Likewise for the extra fluff like a "backstage pass"(pointless) or the Jerrica outfits- sorry but Jme & Jerrica don't look the same. You can't put a lab coat on Hulk & call it Bruce Banner. The "remastered, re-recorded" soundtrack thing seemed rushed & underhyped. And is the show on any streaming anymore? I thought it was on Netflix or Hulu but could not find it on either.

Actually, what was at SDCC? They half-assed aannounced new dolls with no pics, had her VA & simger at the event, got Britta on stage with their mock-up Cold Slither band, & that was kind of it. It's like if they do not want to bother, then don't bother.

It's gonna be off-putting to new fans fninding the doll in stoores when they can find no media for it, huh? No other characters? Someone unfamiliar with it is ognna see this, wonder what it is, find nothing and... lose interest. Jem fans can also be snippy to newcomers(a trend with 80s toon fans in general, not just the IP, "how dare you claim to like what I liked from day one!", toons that taught friendship & morals got undriendly assholes for fanbases), which probaby will not help. I just know someone's gonna innocently say "hey, her earrings look like the ones Sailor Mars wears" & cause a flame war.

Sadly I think a full reboot will be hard. The brand is so 80s you can't modernize the setting without changing the whole look. A new toon at best would just be a remake of the old one with better writing & Hasbro won't fund it(I hearthey went ultra-cheap on the re-do music album). And I'll say it now- if they want a push ow they need a Vocaloid crossiver, but I don't think whoeevr is in charge will go for it. Miku crossoes over with everyhting, including 3 Hasbro IPs so far. Hell, I bet some people unfamiliar with the brand look at Jem now & think "Vocaloid wannabe".

Just saying but if Hasbro is caring this little they should not have bothered at all.

You sound mentally ill. Has hasbro done any miku crossovers that dont involve Takara?

Why would the owners of miku want to start that relationship with JEM and not a bigger IP that hasbro has?

As for doing a new cartoon, they probably should and just give it to Doc Hammer. He loves camp, old cartoons and 80s glam. Just tell him to take it more serious and not constantly take a piss.

Whats probably hurting JEM is the tarrifs. They appear to be hurting everything loyal subjects wants to put out. I think they did a preorder for just about all their new toys.

Corpse Bride must be semi-limited anyway, her general sale on Mattel sold out in minutes. Amazon was up for maybe an hour but people on the MH subred are saying some preorders are getting auto cancelled since they over calculated the stock they'd get. So the scalpers are winning regardless, people are still buying her for over $100 on eBay instead of waiting for the store release.

I sometimes wonder if the salt over TLS Jem is people who spent out the ass on the ugly Integrity line. TLS Jem at least looks like her- the Integrity one looks like a pink Dolly Parton with a breast reduction. They're all woefully off-model, poor quality & were sold at prices out the ass for a company that sells a "brand name". Integrity dolls in general look cheap. They're salty a $30 kids toy looks better than their $100+ "collector items". Besides, if Hasbro had fuck-all faith in the brand they'd be making it themselves. We only ever see it pop up occasionally then magically fail because they put in no effort.

its probably dumb people upset over inflation or tarrifs, just picking something random to be upset about instead of what really upsets them.

You can go to real ghostbusters groups and see the same belly aching about the price of the mondo real ghostbusters figs. Sure, they are kind of high but people were paying 100 a pop for those diamond selects real ghostbusters figs.

Just kind of is what it is. This is the bed that the government, hasbro and other collectors have made. You can't really get upset at the price of the new jem dolls, knowing what people were paying for the integrity dolls.

I've had several of the BBi female figures and a ZC girls EVE buck body. The two lines are very similar to one another with exchangeable heads and almost identical bodies. So going by what I know of these mid 2000's fem-fatales, here's what I can advise...

The bodies are of good quality, but very dated in the sculpt & joint engineering departments. They can hold a pose well, but the joints are very robotic looking. Most regular fashion doll clothes are too small for them, so you'll have to resort to more expensive Phicen clothes and the like.
The headsculpts have aged the poorest on these figures. There's not alot of paint apps on the heads and the hair is a bit choppy. Most sculpts are in that bland generic asian girl look, even for the blondes & redheads. I'd imagine a good faceup with heavy, dramatic makeup would do wonders to hide thier plainness.
On a positive note, the outfits & accessories are of fantastic quality. During the 1/6 figure boom of the late 90's~mid 00's, the outfits were superior to what we get now at a fraction of the cost. (Even Barbie clothes were better during this time. No printed on fabric back then!)
So in the end, a BBi/ZC Girl is only valuable nowadays for her outfit & accessories. You're better off ditching the actual doll itself and getting a current year 1/6 body & head. Then putting the outfit on that doll.

I'm honestly surprised people still like that movie. Or the character.

thanks lad. I was mostly curious in how they were received and if there's any fanbase for them today. They and the Cy Girls seemed like a novel idea, action Barbie.
