I have a few personal gripes, mainly to do with how slow the first few days of gameplay are since a lot of content is locked behind a level-up system, and the UI's horribly clunky, but you can get used to it eventually. I originally thought it was pretty passive without much incentive to keep going after a certain point, but the in-game achievements and being able to record every character you get is a decent motivator to keep going.
I wouldn't call it my favorite entry, but I think it does a good job at what it sets out to do. It's been selling insanely well too, likely due to people being excited about the series' return to form, specifically in character design and tone. The color screen entries shifted in tone compared to the black and white LCDs by veering more towards explicitly feminine moe anime character designs and increased slice of life social elements, but this one goes back to having a simpler world with plainer designs that appeal to men and women.
