Since JR has adjusted the prices for the pass, not really worth it anymore, unless you want to travel by train very extensively. You can plug in your itinerary in the links below and compare prices to the JR Pass.

With the increased price of the JR Pass, local train passes might be good deals now.

Where to move?
I’m thinking of moving to a metro area someplace between DC and Boston, inclusive.
Any advice?
I’m kinda introverted, like access to interesting talks on policy/tech/philosophy, like to be able to spend weekends outdoors, like high quality food/dining experiences.
I’m looking for a wife too. I’m really an independent or classical liberal but most people thought I was super conservative when I lived near an extremely left wing place several years ago. I want to be able to discuss policy and politics with open minded people who don’t think I’m Hitler or Pinochet because I agree with deporting illegals.
Help me out? Any advice? I’m open to pretty much anything near the east coast but DC-Boston area seems best.

Berlin is shit. Why is it so overhyped?
Or Berlin ist scheisse.
Why is this city so hyped up?
Just returned from 4 day visit and it was a terrible let down.
Completely grey and soulless even for November, lots of ugly architecture, drug addicts and homeless everywhere. They even had little camps like in the states. Stench of urine all across the city.
Visited Museum Island, it was ok but nothing compared to British Museum or British National Gallery.
I am really surprised this city is hyped so much.
Frankfurt is better if you want modern city.
Dresden if you want history and beauty.
Munich for German food and beer.
Unless you are junkie I see no point in the It's terribly dirty and depressing.

Real Traveler's map™ thread, sponsored by SPLORED.COM©
Post your travel maps in this thread. Pic related is the official /trv/ Real Traveler's map™, edition 4.0.5

Fill in the countries and subdivisions you have visited, talk about your map and ask others about their maps. You can use the map however you like, the colors are more like suggestions, you don't have to use them, and you don't have to use all of them. You can add or remove colors and change the map as much as you want in any way you want. Don't like this map? Upload a completely different one. Up to you. Despite what some might say, there's no "wrong" way to use the map, and new posters and less travelled people are welcome and encouraged to stay and post :) This map is a group effort by our board, and we can only improve it if people reach out to share suggestions or corrections.

This is the newest edition of the map, edition 4.0.5, updated for September 2025. Thanks to an Anon in the previous thread, it is now easier than ever to fill in the map. You can use the website splored.com to easily color in entire countries with a single click. At the time of making this thread, it uses the old 4.0.4 template, so you still need to update it to 4.0.5 with the simplified template, but hopefully Anon will update the website after I make this thread.

Topic for this thread: Should we have a Real Traveler's Discord? Just something I've been thinking about. I don't use Discord myself, so it's not important to me, but it could be nice to have a hangout for the regulars or a "backup" in case 4chan goes down again or somewhere to share subdivision news if there's no thread up. Just interested in hearing your opinions on this.

East Asian Cities Thread
Discussion of Asian Cities and recommendations on which one to visit next.

I've been to Taipei and Tokyo and thought Taipei was the best city I have been to in the world. The food was great, the people were friendly, and the day trips were so much fun. Looking to go there again next year but am unsure of which city to pair it with. My options are Kyoto, Seoul, and Singapore for about 4-5 days. Looking for a place with solid food, somewhere relatively easy to navigate, and something with just good vibes all around.

Anyone ever quit their job to travel for an extended period of time? Should I? Or is it too late for me at 26?
My current job is bullshit, low paying, idk what my future is, and I kinda just wanna die. I do get PTO, but it's only enough for like, 2 week long trips a year. Is there something more scary than nightclub fire? Imagine yourself solo-travelling, just being in wrong place in wrong time, then next minute you are awfully burned laying suffering on the street, dying very painful and very slow death, thousands of kilometers from family or anyone who speaks your language, totally dependent on awful healthcare of shithole country you are in. It's totally random, no fault of your own, it still happens from time to time and hundreds of people can be injured (great pain) in one such fire.

Canada's National Parks
Has anyone visited many of these? I've been to a lot of US National Parks, but not many in Canada. Looking at this map some look pretty remote. What's the point of having so many that you can only get to by plane? (I know that's not the reason to designate an area, but you still need people to visit them to make a point of having them). At least a dozen of those are practically impossible to visit without expensive charter planes and even if you could there are literally no facilities like camping grounds or towns to get supplies.

While roller coasters are the main focus of these threads (and the title of the general) there is also discussion on other theme parks, their rides, as well as the parks themselves and trip planning too. That's where /tpg/ comes in.

Hello,

I’m working on a project, and your travel story is key! To get started, I need lots of your personal stories. I want to immerse myself in what people feel and experience, how they deal with important moments, and what they learn from them.

The stories will be published (anonymously) on the project’s website, which is why we ask for email verification: simply to ensure that each story comes from a real person. You won’t receive any spam or strange messages, just the confirmation email.

What to write about:

Tell me about a real experience that has had an impact on you. It could be about a trip that you learned something or a trip that had change your life in some way

Try to explain how you felt, what you learned, when it happened, and who you were at the time.

If you want to participate, you can leave your story here (anonymously)

https://forms.gle/iyMVXWzzbWV9G4c86

Thank you for taking the time to share something of yours!

Every story counts and helps build something very beautiful.

Spending a week a friend's house in Venetto Italy. Went to Venice, Bologna, Rovigo, Verona, Revana, Forli.
Pros:
- Not insanely hot
- Amazing Food
- Beer is not as bad as I thought it woul be.
- Everyone looks good, the wops are actually white.
- Surprisingly affordable if you aren't dumb.
- People are ridiculously friendly, not used to this since I grew up with southerners and they're absolute scum.
- Verona is the most beautiful city I've ever seen.
- Trains are decent.

Cons:
- Niggers
- Jeets
- Abduls
- High Taxes if one were to live here.

Is it worth going to Florence tomorrow? Is it worth moving to Verona? For context, I am white with blue eyes.

You should never have anything in your pants pockets, desu. It should always be in a be in a jacket pocket or a bag of some sorts. It is extremely uncouth and distasteful to have a visible outline of a wallet or phone in your pants which are likely far too tight.

I don't have cream nor creamer with my coffee. The former makes the coffee viscous too it's fucking gross.
>>2836564
Who in their right mind would rather add some artificially flavored palm oil & modified food starch "creamer" to their coffee when they have the opportunity to add real dairy cream? An Amerimutt, most likely. Mutts have an inordinate love of fake food products.

Have had really good luck with airbnb. $50 for Venetian apartments in the most beautiful places I've ever been. All the way up until my last stay. Was advertised as an "entire apartment" but it was a loft room in some old fashioned tenement house run by an elderly couple. 1001 rules, floor...

Cumstains on the walls are a very common sight in the budget rooms I've stayed in, but the bedding is usually clean. However in India there are many reports of the bedding being filthy, not changed from the previous guest. I'm not a germophobe, but too much filth (and bad smells especially...

I'm visiting The Netherlands for the second time, looking to explore more of the country outside of Amsterdam. Already got Haarlem, The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and Delft in mind, but are there any other places worth visiting for a day trip? I'm split between staying in The Hague or Rotterdam, idk which one is more interesting desu.

Got 8 nights total!

Thailand is great for foreigners who speak little and listen much. Memorize Thai numbers before you go, if you plan to do much buying from small vendors. I like to have a 50 baht bill on hand to give to a favored vendor. They are sadly rare in some parts of the country.

Avoid the Indo Gangetic plains. They turn into a gas chamber for months. It's the filthiest and most polluted region on the planet. Himalayan states are fine but you need to fly into Delhi for going there. Western states with places like Mumbai are OK and are more bearable than the north. ...
New Delhi air quality is unimaginably bad

LMAO at foreigners who gripe endlessly about Chiang Mai when it averages a mere 150 AQI during the burning season.
I decided to pay for my one year India eVisa three weeks from the date of arrival. Supposedly it gets processed within 3 or 4 days of payment, but they can send an email message inquiring further details, which could add many days to the processing time.
Air quality is already pretty bad across the country, with the usual winter pattern already setting in.
This is the entrance to Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai. Hardly looking like a nature paradise...

The brothels in Athens are the worst kind of human trafficking you will ever see. Thick steel doors on the buildings and bars on the windows. Sketchy brown dudes just wandering the streets doing god knows what. I wouldn't touch those girls with a 10 foot pole.

Scouted the general thunderdome area (with intent, I intended to visit a prostitute and have sex before I left), just felt pure disgust-tinged pity once even near the right neighborhood, felt no horniness there.
Mani Peninsula is God's country, barely any tourists at all, probably because there aren't any sandy beaches.
