My gf showed me a lot of tv I had never seen. Most of it was truly terrible, shit like Game of Thrones. I have to admit, Avatar was good. Idk about the sequal with the dyke bitch though. I fucking hate lesbos.

This was the most forced "romantic" relationship. Katara was never interested in Aang she saw him as a little brother it was only until the fortune teller told her "you'll marry a very powerful bender" and she convinced herself to marry Aang but it was always suppose to be Zuko

Most of Season 1 and much of the first half of Season 3 is juvenile and difficult for any non-stunted adult to sit through. The show isn't particularly deeper than any other YA fantasy about teenagers fighting an evil government/empire. Also, the humor is painfully unfunny and shows that the series is clearly meant for children. I don't know why manchildren pretend this cartoon is some profound masterpiece when shows like Justice League Unlimited and Samurai Jack were far more mature and subtle.

I will agree on season 1. The early episodes are truly very juvenile and it is hard to go through as an adult. I'd be pretty embarassed to watch it with someone who didn't watch it as a kid before.

To play devil's advocate, I'd say it's kind of a moral imperative-esque/ Christian motif where he doesn't kill anyone. I respect it. I just think it would have been a better finale. Aang doesn't sacrifice anything in the end. He doesn't give up his bending like the other anon said, which would have made it perfect in my eyes.

exactly... it's a ancient thing in chinese culture i think but it felt kind of weird. they at least explained the panda as being a forest spirit. but the turtle got like two lines of explanation within 20 seconds and that was it.

to be clear i think the show is as close to a 10/10 as a kids/YA show can be. I still like it.

It certainly needed to have been mentioned earlier, but there was clearly more thought put into the themes than some people make it out to be. If the whole idea is that his will needed to be "unbendable" in order for the energy bending shit to work, then the only reason why he didn't get absolutely fucked was precisely because he never gave in to literally everyone telling him to compromise his culture, tradition, and morals for the sake of expediency. That kind of total moral clarity and confidence in himself is a huge turn from where his character started at the beginning of the show and was the payoff for his whole arc.
