Fundamentally speaking, what's the difference between a clown at a circus and an actor in a film? Their ultimate purpose is to entertain, is it not?
I think about ancient Greece and how actors were treated like scum. They are quite literally embarrassing themselves for monetary gain. This isn't something a normal person can do. Do you ever look back on videos from your younger years and the shenanigans you got up too? With close friend you may laugh, but in every case you cringe, let alone if a stranger saw it, because your humility kicks in.
I enjoy films and the role actors play, but I simply do not respect them - I can't respect someone that embarrasses themselves for money. I throw money at them, and they can enjoy it wealth, but they are beneath me as people.
