I mean, I get the premise: a reflexive film about using cinema to turn one of Hollywood's worst tragedies into a kind of postmodern fairytale. But Quentin read about Manson family and he knows the lore about a lot of the actors he uses as character in this move. For example, there's this TV western sequence with James Stacy involving a little girl who's been kidnapped by Rick's character. But here's the thing: James Stacy was a pedophile who molested a 11 year old girl. And then you got Steve McQueen who's providing exposition to explain Sharon Tate's relationships with Polanski and her ex. But Steve McQueen was a wife beater so why the fuck would Tarantino pick him to tell this story? This whole film seems extremely cynical once you understand that most of the characters shown are extremely fucked up.
