i understand the point of the scene, a commoner defeating someone evil but it makes no sense at the same time, why would someone expert in battle like bellatrix just get defeated that easily by someone who is never shown to be good at fighting

Should have been Neville, giving him a chance for vengeance for his parents. If that's too hardcore for a motivation, it could be overcoming his past trauma in a noble stand against terrible odds. The snake kill could have gone to Hermione, who finally realized the value of just getting up and picking up a sword after years of staring at books and theory.
