This movie does the "hope" message far better than Superman (2025), has better humor, better acting, and is actually cohesive even despite the theme being inherently about chaos. Why are retards pretending the new Superman is even remotely good when it got outdone by A24 slop?

I don't use reddit. This movie did have that kind of smug pseudointelligent writing that attracts that kind of crowd, so I get it. But also the new Superman is getting pushed everywhere even though it's complete shit with bad pacing. It didn't even have a coherent message to hammer home, just pretending being kind is punk. What a pathetic mess.

Anyone who isn't a literal shill dislikes this movie being shoved in their faces, you're arguing against literal bots and people who are being paid to disagree with you.
All you've accomplished here is made 1 more Superman thread.

At least the lesbian daughter thing served as a plot point. She actually says "in this universe" implying that she's not even a lesbian elsewhere. Likeliest outcome is she gets the shit beaten out of her by her half-mexican gf and they break up, lmao.

Meanwhile, Superman's identity struggle was an afterthought in his own movie, simply 20 seconds of dialogue at the end to Lex. Pretty fucking sad.

Yeah, it's a based message actually. Superman rejects his foreign biological family in favor of his trad American one that raised him to be a good person. The idea that you're supposed to "celebrate your heritage" instead of just assimilating is a leftist idea that subverts entire nations.

The "in this universe" was referring to the MC still being annoyed by it in that universe, not the daughter being gay in that universe.
At least that's how I remember it.

Fair enough. Still just a good dick and several good beatings away from being straight. Is it any wonder she turned out that way when her father is so spineless and weak?

>>212688041
The real answer is that non-whites can NEVER assimilate without being subversive. Look at the Irish and Italians who were discriminated against, and they're even European. Trying to be "American" doesn't work for non-whites or Jews like Cohensweat. They do it in such a memetic way too, Jorel is chanting in Hebrew while telling him to super rape, just fucking lol. Stop pretending this ironic slop is "trad."

His speech where he justified being emotional dead weight in his relationship by 'maintaining a positive attitude' was pretty stupid in retrospect. The vibes in the movie were decent enough that I kind of agreed with him for a second though.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy where the mother is actually only so distant because she was jumping the entire time, always zoning out and never being "present". I get it, but it was also just kind of silly. Still far better in its sincere approach than the ironic shitpile of Superman.

Yeah but their relationship was heavily implied to be like that before she started jumping too. As evidenced by how he tried to file for divorce to get her attention instead of just having balls for 5 seconds and confronting her about their relationship.

Yes but she has been jumping the whole time, even before the movie begins. It's in medias res, the "her' of that universe might be clueless to jumping, but the other "hers' have been in her universe and jumping before. At least I interpreted it this way, might be wrong.

It's been like 3 years and I watched it on a plane so I might have just missed it, but I never really interpreted it like that. Their relationship from the beginning seemed like a natural result of their personalities combined with her running the business rather than something that needed or justified an external explanation. Although I guess 'jumping' is just an allegory for daydreaming due to dissatisfaction with her life and would therefore make sense as an explanation too.

Yeah, I got the none of it was real/all metaphors thing, it was very on the nose. But still a solid flick, if not too drawn out in the action sequences. I'd cut about 20 minutes of the kung-fu/slowmo/ridiculous aerial shit and it'd be better. Solid 8 at the end of the day.

It is, but it's hard to get over how bait and switch it felt for me. I thought it was really gonna be getting in the head of the put upon 1st gen MC, but despite following her it was pretty much written from the perspective of her whiny daughter.

I just watched this and I spent the entire movie repeating the words "this is reddit, this is memes, this is reddit, this is memes..." under my breath.
I fucking hated it. I was writhing around on the floor in front of the chair for the last 30 minutes it was so painful.

what about this movie inspires "hope"? that you'll work hard, miss out on life and get a gay daughter? what "humor" was superior - the dildo statue? if the movie's theme is "chaos", lets just do random shit.

i dont even like superman but this is an even more retarded take
