TRON
Where does the franchise go from here? assuming we get another project in the next 15 years

Every film that comes out cements the potential of this franchise, even if they dont always hit the mark

An "anime" adaptation of the first film (in the style of the Terminator anime or Castlevania etc) retelling the original story but in a way that's less of a slog and more digestible for modern audiences

Ares sequel about a war between the two grids, with a third grid based on the original films aesthetic serving as a neutral space. Bring back Leto if it means he will fund it, but otherwise make the movie self contained as is the tradition for the franchise so far.

Should've stopped at one.

>An "anime" adaptation of the first film
I like this but what if the portions outside the grid are live action, and inside the grid is anime like some code lyoko shit

Why would they try again? All three movies flopped hilariously.

Make a direct sequel to Legacy with Ares being a secondary character in it and retcon Tron Ares to be a secondary canon spinoff about that character

Anon the first movie is objectively the worst out of all three

It’s a weird situation where while the general public doesn’t care about Tron that much, a lot of higher ups and creative people do, which is why pretty much every long standing western comedy show has referenced Tron at least once
I’m sure if you showed the MCP to most people they wouldn’t recognize that it’s a Tron character but would know about it from South Park

Definitely not worse than Ares. Legacy is debatable.

It absolutely is worse than Ares and is 110 perfect without a doubt worse than Legacy

You're going to have a hard time doing the "new thing bad" thing with Tron because that first movie is straight ass anon

How is it worse than Ares? Ares completely fails as a sequel. Tron 1 made narrative sense at least.

Tron 1 is painfully boring. Notoriously so as far back as the 80s. It has an excellent visual style but nothing happens in it for 90 minutes.

Ares isn't exactly a great movie but at least it has a moving plot.

That’s actually pretty cool

The premise has immense potential and the iconography, especially Legacy, are awesome but the writing and plotting and fleshing out of the story and lore has always been pisspoor. Ares just made sure there's never going to be another Tron movie. the best TRON media was the short lived cartoon.

I rewatched Tron 1 before Ares came out after forgetting about the franchise for over a decade, and I didn’t find it boring at all. I have no idea what you’re even talking about, I don’t recall any particular scene taking too long.
Ares was cool visually and would have been a good standalone movie but when you make a sequel to something you have to take the previous movies into account and Ares spectacularly fails at doing that.

he's just fishing for (you)'s
the fact that he's saying Ares is better, says it all.

I didn't see the new ares and i didn't rewatch this movie in like 15 years so what i'm gonna say is really faggy.
I always hear around that this movie is a MUST for both Cyuberpunk fans and let's say people who keep saying "This is the future of AI". Maybe i'm wrong but I never saw nothing of the two, I mean maybe is beacuse I was jsut a young adult/teen when I watched it and maybe everything flew over my head, but this movie the original is just a guy is stuck in an ARCADE/computer, but people keep saying online, both on reviews on you tube even reddit and here that this movie has:
>Jesus symbolism
>Symbolism of the future
>The future of the AI that will controll the world
>Human Ingenuity against the Machine
>Slavery
>The parallel with human history (Rome and the colosseum with gladiators who fight for our enjoyment).
I never saw anything or percieved anything of the list.
For me the movie is just a sci-fi of a guy who's stuck in an arcade not even a computer or stuff, no wait not even an arcade I mean the programs make fight the protagonist and another program for "The enjoyment of the creator" or what it was called but there were never "Creators" that played for me it would've resolved a lot if the stuff that happened in the VR world would reflect on the real or vice versa like a guy put a fucking coin for playing PONG and there is the scene where they fight with that strange PELOTA game.
It made me confuse, maybe I need to rewatch it

To each their own I suppose. If youve actually watched it recently I won't accuse you of bullshitting

Nowadays people can’t just enjoy something without pretending it has some kind of deep symbolism. Stop listening to pseuds on reddit and enjoy the movies for what’s actually in them not the schizo shit they make up about them.
If anything the MCP’s army was based on the Soviet Union (wearing red, hating people who believe in a higher power and calling them religious fanatics, the MCP himself having world domination goals and wanting to absorb all programs into itself) but that’s not really to give a message and more because it’s an American movie that came out during the Cold War.

I watched the first film in like 2002 on TV when I was a kid and loved it - I didn't think it was boring. I see what people MEAN by that but I didn't find it boring, and having seen it and being a big fan of Daft Punk growing up is what excited me to see Legacy.

I also remember the Tron PC game coming out in 2004 and really wanting to get it. I remember the teaser trailer to Legacy "it's just a game!...not anymore" coming out.

Legacy is aesthetically EXACTLY how I personally would have made a Tron sequel. I have never seen any piece of media so exactly match what I had in my mind's eye, it's crazy. Legacy was flawed but remains one of my favorite films. Such a shame they can't do this setting and series justice.

Well maybe I gave the wrong I dea, I like the movie I mean I remember I liked it, maybe I need to rewacht it IG. However years later I keep hearing how "TRON" Changed the perception of the digital world and how is becoming similar to the real world.
When I saw the movie was in 2009 or 2010 when megavideo was still up, I remember I wanted to watch it because the Tron Legacy was coming out and wanted to see the original. I'm the guy who inform himself before watching the movie, I read that Disney wanted to make the movie to demonstrate the power of Computer graphics at the time and wanted to do it in context with a story of programs and VR because at the time was happening a Digital/tecnological revolution after the Apple II.
so after saying this I was confused when over the years I kept hearing stuff of the movie like the one I listed and I was kinda confused because I was like
>Really? That was the message of the movie? I tought it was just like the equivalent of a Jungle adventure(Digital adventure) made from disney to show off their new graphic department

That already "almost" happened, it's called Summer Wars.
