Hobbit hate is like Trump Derangement Syndrome or something. The studio forced Jackson to add a lot of bloat to it but what we got is still basically as good as the first trilogy. Literally the same actors, musical composer, writers, directors, the Weta visual artists, but somehow /tv/ still thinks it’s 2011 in regards to the Hobbit.
/tv/ has already accepted that Pirates 3, Spider-Man 3, Transformers, etc. is all absolute kino but are still hung up on the Hobbit pretending it isn’t great just because it didn’t live up to the visuals of LOTR, but the Hobbit is at least 90% as good but /tv/ pretends they’re Star Wars sequel bad for some reason, most of you probably haven’t even seen them since they came out.
Anyway I like Smaug and Bilbo and the rest of the cast more than Frodo and those guys. Loved the whole Pale Orc vs Thorin Oakenshield shit.

The Hobbit trilogy does have some good parts, probably enough to make a single good film, but the rest is absolute soulless garbage. The entire 3rd film is completely irredeemable, with no value whatsoever.

The way it was achieved shows that one version actually cared about their craft, while the other only cared about getting a cheque. One will stand the time and forever look amazing, the other was immediately repugnant to anyone with sense and only gets worse with each year.

Bilbo is great, Smaug is great, their scene together is great, but then the dwarves come back and oh hey presto it's slop again! Same goes for Gollum and Bilbo. Those 2 good (maybe even great) scenes alone cannot make a compelling trilogy when the rest of it is so lifeless and barren.

Not true, the filmmakers did what they could do with what (time) they had. It was supposed to be one fucking movie and the (((producers))) jewed it into a trilogy of 4-hour movies.
