Why do films today feel so impotent? Blockbuster's like this, Tron: Ares, Superman, ect all have zero draw now. How hard is it to be creative?

I saw a preview and it looked like fucking dogshit.
The original Running Man is cool because of the dark stylistic style.
this one looks like:
dude running through normal apartment buildings in broad daylight

Entertainment is about expectations, expectations are often the thief of joy. If your expectations are met or exceeded then a thing is a success. But if you have ridiculously high expectations then you'll never be pleased, even if the work is alright. It is about perceptions and mentality. A one and done TV show has lower expectations, more flexibility because of the format. This episode might be bad but next week's story might be good. But now with big huge overarching plots, fear of missing out anxiety, cinematic universes, online marketing and hype bubbles, the expectations are too high. So people burnt out. At the same time, streaming and online social media/YouTube etc cheapened/devalued entertainment so much. People focus on culture wars but really people simply cannot be bothered. Many of these current movies are the epitome of ((fine I guess)). But people are burnt out of the hype marketing bubble, particularly when the costs are so high. So why bother? Is it about creativity? Well no, even if the films were creative, without good marketing they fail. Wednesday season 1 became a big huge viral hit, despite being quite bland plot wise, simply because Jenna Ortega is cute and her dancing went viral on TikTok. The truth is entertainment is in a transition period and trying to artificially reverse engineer keeps creating messes. They just don't have the infrastructure or audience.

Edgar Wright is such a hack. Still hasnt made a good movie without simon pegg writing it. Scott Pilgrim is the worst movie I’ve ever seen. Pure audio and visual diarrhea

they used to fund films with the knowledge that they would make X% of their profits off of tv syndication, block buster rentals and DVD sales. they can't do that anymore (stopped around the same time the marvel shit started and fast and furious became sloppa) so instead they shifted to the global market with world wide box office
now thing can only get made if they are horror films because horror films have always done well and are cheap to make or if they are mass appeal action sloppa they can sell in china so it can't have any complex dialogue or themes and because they spent so much money on it, it's usually director by committee and focus grouped to death until it has no sovl do for the world wide market
