It was actually pretty good. Not amazing, but pretty good.

Yeah i appreciated it. I like how they played with the idea of humanity through thr creatures actor. Where he acts through the evolutionary process by acting like a monkey hanging and scurrying and prometheus etc. I thought the actor did a pretty good job. The iconography was pretty good. The sequence of frankenstein in the forest has nice imagery. Pretty sovlfvl as the youths might say. I didnt like the actress who played elizabeth. The ending was also pretty abrupt.

I agree with you on most points. I liked the creatures hatred of life as an immortal being and Mia Goth continues the trend of unnecessary female characters, like Zendaya in Dune.

Yeah i mean the character herself was not pointless per se in that she is supposed to show humans relationship with a possible state of grace and victors relationship with his humanity etc but i literally dont like the actress.

I hated it. Felt like a popcorn flick taking itself way too seriously. Hated the cast and the amount of cgi slop that rivaled marvel movies. Score did nothing for me. A million dollars a day to make this. Mediocre. Anemone was a trash film but it at least tried to do visual storytelling, Frankenstein is literally a netflix movie, made for people on their phone with the lights on in the living room.

You don't need to see this movie because you can just imagine how a del taco frankenstein would go, and it's exactly that. 2 and a half fucking hours, will not be rewatching. This story has been done a million times and better, the series penny dreadful for example.

Liked the practical effects gore, and it's a beautiful flick, and the set design, costumes. It was freezing in the theater so that was perfect.

They keep trying to push Elordi, I don't see it, I guess wuthering heights will prove if he's anything, don't care won't watch it. Del Taco is washed. Even Pacific Rim was at least an original IP and was much tighter.

Idk that’s why I said it was pretty good. I get where you’re coming from, but I still felt the philosophical core was handled well, especially the cabin sequence and I liked the aesthetics (though the CGI was noticeable at times). I feel there’s not much else to do with the source material, and I was happy to see the Gothic Victorian setting captured so well.

>Book literally written by a woman
>STILL need to insert feminism and a modern "update"

It's shit. Turns the novel into a shallow daddy issues movie. I don't think Del Toro understands any of the stuff he adapts.

The book was written to show most scary thing for women. Them being replaced. Not only in giving life but as mates. So it was to show the “evil” in doing so. Now we are seeing same insecurity by women with AI bots. But the funniest part is, it’s women by overwhelming number having “relationships” with AI boyfriends. Entire sub r edits dedicated to it

Nosferatu was too overblown.
Every scene was turned up to 11, which made it too dramatic. It didn't have balance.
