It's a traditional JRPG (towns, dungeons, overworld, boy meets girl, the whole package) and the combat mechanic is a bit similar to Wander Stars, you use attack commands (like a fighting game) instead of words, and using certain combinations will turn them into unique special attacks. You can also "befriend" (capture) enemies like in Wander Stars and turn them into spells.

Just finished this demo. It was pretty short (~30 minutes) and was basically a walking sim with a few interesting non-euclidean area changes. Overall it was too small of a vertical slice to say much, and was honestly pretty boring. Kind of soured me on the full game, at this point I'll only pick it up on a deep sale

Have you tried Warborne Above Ashes? It's somewhere between a MOBA and Herzog Zwei style RTS with you controlling the equivalent of a Hero Unit with some control over a few utility units to farm resources for you, but it's also an MMO with lots of people running around later on.
It is really slow and the tutorial is a drag, I couldn't get into it but maybe you'll like it. Also the overwhelming majority of people are chatting in Chinese.

This is a strange one, it feels like a game for kids, all colourful and happy, but it is about a boy who think he's a coffin and he's looking for a dead body that would like to, uhh, reside inside him. And the boy is some kind of a hard to describe creature. After starting the game, I had to go to the store page and check the pictures to see if it's a bug, or he's really supposed to look like this.
Sounds retarded and doesn't look that good on pictures, but I actually recommend this demo, if you like unique things.

This specific h-event takes place in a non-loss area, because the expo isn't one. So it could actually be that she gets fucked behind your back regardless. For no apparent reason. Who knows?

Best way to do a game demo for non-sim/RTS games for me is skip the story bullshit, slap the default controls straight in the Escape-menu (with quick rebind access), and let me at it. I do NOT want to spend half the demo in a mandatory slow tutorial.

Very cute hidden object game. No penalty for clicking on literally every object in the scene, and in fact some items are hidden until you click on another object. There are special glitchy/black and white items in the level that give you resource you can spend to get better hints for items. Beyond just your checklist in each level you have special objectives that usually just means click on a specific item to cause something, i.e. clicking on an apple in a tree so it falls off and wakes up someone sleeping under it.
Hidden object games are of course carried entirely by how much you like the art/themes, and I like the cutesy world.

Also has next to healing anywhere and you don't take hitstun when attacked so its easy to lose 90% of your hp without notcing and have no wayto get it back

Anyone know if the Spirit X Strike demo got changed at all since the last time it appeared at NextFes? Game was a fair bit jank when it first demo'd due to lack of polish/enemy balancing.

why are so many disappointed with Mina the Hollower? i dont get it? I played the demo even before the fest, and its not bad. Its got more solid foundations than most games (mostly because it copies dark souls more faithfully than most soulslikes) and seems to be a twist on the zelda formula since it focuses a bit more on platforming, when zelda games rarely even have a dedicated jump button, let alone real platforming even with that.
If theres any "flaw" of the demo, its that it didnt show what trinkets are like, and the gameplay barely develops. There were some somewhat cool ideas with fire being an obstacle (and what look like balloons that let you jump higher I guess?)
Only valid criticism i see so far is that yea it can be sort of hard to tell what is jumpable and not.

Met nomads after trying to tame some horses who threw themselves off cliffs to their death multiple times, still wish I had tamed a horse but by the time I was boss of the lower level dungeon bandits the timelimit was up. Had very few issues, no real bugs really, reading the tutorials in the beginning wasn't fun but I expect it with that kind of game.
Never did find a devil spire, I walked towards the pillar for a while and just ended up fixating on nearby dungeons.

They look great, but the tank controls aren't the best, and there's no auto aim. Also, all of the trailer footage is in the over the shoulder mode, so I suppose that's the intended experience.

Anyways, DEAD AS DISCO lived up to the hype as a rhythm action game with smooth as fuck...well, everything. However cutting the demo off as the song hits the chorus and the boss appears is a cockblock. Day 1 buy?
HIROGAMI was really, really short. Game is cute and gorgeous but i don't really want to buy without seeing another, less linear level.
GLACIERED is still my favorite of the fest for the engaging 3d underwater combat. Even if it's all linear, I enjoyed the combat and promise of branching trees enough to know this is a day 1 buy too.
METRO GRAVITY was not from this steam fest but I honestly felt it was clunky despite the incredibly ambitious central gimmick. Maybe I'll give it another shot?
