Why do all games need to have Arachnophobia mode now?

Why is this specific phobia so important?

However the spiders from your pic or even grounded or oblivion are fine

I have learned arachnophobia, and I'm fucking angry about it. I naturally always liked them and when I was four my elder sisters were worried I'd bet bit by one if I didn't fear them, so they stuck a big fake spider on the door while I was pooping and then screamed as if the world was ending, telling me I was going to die. My parents found me huddled behind the toilet in hysterics. 30 fucking years later and I still have nightmares about being overrun with tarantulas even though I still consciously love them. I've never forgiven my sisters for that.

It's not the legs, it's the faces, especially the eyes and mouths, as well as the fact that those cartoon spiders move in silly ways. If you ask most arachnophobes what scares them about spiders, it's usually the faces or the way they move.

Very few people are actually arachnophobic. An actual phobia is a crippling, ofttimes irrational fear of something. The best way I can describe it is that it's like a fear effect in an RPG that makes you lose control of your character.

The average person is unnerved by bugs. That's fucking normal. It's literally human instinct to be cautious around scuttling things. That's why spiders are such common "scary" enemies. What we're witnessing is simply the complete and utter pussification of modern society.

I remember when I booted up Grounded for the first time and had to click through multiple disclaimers saying I was okay with seeing spiders in a game about being shrunk down and fighting spiders (and other arachnid/insects). I was a bit disappointed to discover that the Spider enemies are more or less just there. Yeah, the Wolf Spider is a bit scary, but that's because its a dangerous and aggressive enemy, not because it's a spider. The Orb Weaver is just a goofy little guy.

Those little spiders with long singular threads are most likely jumping spiders, and they're probably fucking up the bigger ones more than the birds are. Jumping spiders are famous for hunting and killing much larger spiders. They pretty much specialize in ambushing bigger, less mobile spiders

I dunno, I do know most people consider them (spiders in general) pests because of how unsightly they are and how some can cause necrotizing bites but thats only a very select few, so im assuming they've been getting wiped out with people liberally using insecticides and other environmental factors possible, personally I let them live because they're are such good hunters for pests and they do a good job of staying put unlike most flies and mosquitoes, but yeah the spider population has been wearing out, as to why I can't say im not a biologist. I just think spiders are dope.
