Ummmm... Where is it? /v/ said there would be a Switch 2 Emulator in the first week. I want to play Mario Kart World at 4k/60fps.

There are no games to emulate, that Brick 2 has none

Apparently the inner circles for this don't expect it to be emulated for years. They won't say that publicly though as they'll lose potential patreon bux

There are no inner circles for this. The original dev was a Brazilian, not a troon. Creating a switch 2 emulator will be much easier than switch 1 as the previous switch emulators and Shadps4 all use similar methods for shader recompilation which was more experimental back then. And I doubt too much else changed from Switch 1 to 2 architecturally. Maybe some new SDKs but nothing crazy.

You'd need like a 2 grand GPU to emulate it, OP. You're a poorfag.

they differ quite a lot on the GPU, which is why there's a software compatibility layer between them. perhaps we'll see modchips for the switch 2 later in its lifecycle, but nintendo has already set a precedent to fuck the people who sell this service real hard up the ass

the gpu is equivalent to a 1050. anyone with a mid range gpu already has something 4x stronger than that

Yeah aside from the GPU thats what I meant by "too much else." In the case of GPU the previous work on shader recompilation will make it easier the second time around even though the compiled shader format likely changed since last gen.

These games? Honey, no game runs in 4k. Everything is upscaled whether you like it or not.

Well, this portion of /v/ did not pay attention to the yuzu.
I bet that in 6 months there will be an emulator, something that can load switch 2 roms and show some garbage on screen, and roughly 2 years after, it will run all the popular games without defects and good speed.

the issue is that it seems that the Switch 2 is much harder to reverse engineer this time around as the console is much more tightlipped about its operation in front of the user. It's obviously going to happen as all devices eventually divulge their secrets, but I'm not convinced it'll be on a timeline that satisfies the most eager Switch 1 pirates. The documentation behind the Tegra chips, along with the Erista security blunders, spoiled a generation of pirates thinking emulation is a cheap game, but they don't remember how much work it actually takes.

PC needs a 4090 to start punching up to 50+ FPS gaming at 4k, which itself is only really viable once you use DLSS/FSR for higher 1% lows. It's basically necessary if you care about raytracing (lol, lmao) as well.
Obviously console output at 4k is all upscaled, but most people don't give a shit about whether the circuits produce a native 4k image. They care that the images they get are clear at 1440p or 4k, that there are enough images to constitute a stable framerate, and that the framerate is delivered at an even pace.

Switch 2 users, afaik, mostly care about the handheld experience. There is currently no PC handheld that deliver the Switch 2 software experience even with TOTK (60 fps @ 1080), much less while weighing more, draining battery faster, and dealing with hiccups like shader compilation framedrops.

Do you think they rewrote an entire operating system just for the switch 2? The switch 1 was a completely new kernel and everything, the entire stack was new. They aren't going to do that two gens in a row. Switch 2 is a switch 1 with a new GPU and probably a dozen new syscalls.

the switch 1 OS was literally based off the 3DS OS. the major similarity between the switch 1 and switch 2 is their microkernel to privilege access further, and thus far, the Mariko switch 1 has no way of getting *software* hacked. you have to install (read: solder) a physical modchip, which was developed using all the knowledge accrued from the Erista switch 1 models.
