It's fun but Saints row 4 did kill the series. I think if Volition made a Super hero game after SR4 it could've been kino. Not Agents of Mayhem which was like a psudeo Saints row game but something like Infamous or Crackdown

3 is a combination of 2 and 4, like 4 it has a sillier and more bombastic tone, but atill retains the general structure of 2 of taking over the city and fighting rival gangs, instead of just going balls to the wall bonkers like 4 did with the alien invasion and matrix parodies, tough 3 does have the zombie outbreak and the final sequence against the army.

Not really, and I say this as someone who firmly believes the franchise peaked with 2, 3 and 4 are not 2 simply because they're not trying to be 2, they're their own thing and I appreciate them for it, if I want to play 2 I can play 2.

I like 2 for driving, shooting, and expanding my empire
4 I modded in samus outfit/gun skins and ran around the city blasting shit and using superpowers

People didnt like they made a super hero game and not gang simulator with poopoopeepee jokes. Its all around one of the best super hero games too with plenty of content. I think think 2 was the best, but I had a blast with 4.

Played 3 without playing 1 and 2. It was Hella fun but had it's over the top cheesy moments. Then I noticed 1 & 2 had a more serious tone which I never got a chance to play but seems pretty cool.

When 4 came out and I saw the vids I was like "WTF are they doing with the series?". Then the rest is sadly history.

because the number of fans who play saints row for fun was far outnumbered by fans who were posers who thought that saints row 2 was some deep gangster game with no siliness. it was full of silliness but it took the siliness seriously with a poker face. saints row 4's super power traversal was the most fun traversal in an open world game.

It was more deep gang gang shit than the later installments, with a bit of silliness mixed in. That is the general impression that the so-called "posers" have.

It had the same map as 3 so it got accused of being a glorified expansion.

Then Nintendo did the same thing with TOTK and it turned out that reusing the map was actually genius GOTY 10/10.

I still play it like once every 2 years. I still downgrade to the legacy version on steam.
I tried playing co-op this weekend but I only managed to play with one other person with matchmaking. It crashed a lot when other people tried joining my game and when I tried to join one myself.

SR4 is the best one
