I grew up with it and loved it while everyone else was playing on the PS3

It was great but it wasn’t the golden age like every other zoomer who barely got to experience likes to tout.

Nope, it was pretty good. But I think many people are posing, shit runs fine on modern phones and you'd see more people actually running an emu on them if they'd really think it was that great because the PS2s library still kills the one for conventional phonegames.

It was for me in many ways. Split screen was extremely common which basically doesn't exist anymore for shit like racing games, all sorts of genres that are now pretty terrible like sports games were good & it had ones we'll never get again like the street games. Matter of fact it had a shit ton of AA genres that either died for good or temporarily survived on handhelds.

The majority of ps2 games are genuinely shit, feel shit to play and felt shit to play then too. They had graphics and cutscenes but it didnt matter; the gameplay is awful. If I have to play one more isometric gridbased game with a cursor controlled by joystick I would rather just die. The SNES has it beat by miles, the absolute peak of 2D gameplay systems with optimized controls and good games.
