Do you guys all really prefer to play games like Cyberpunk and Elden Ring on handhelds? Maybe it's just because I have a really nice desktop setup, but even playing things like JRPGs I feel like I'm still missing out on some of the spectacle when I play them on Steam Deck or Switch.
I mean I love handhelds, but despite owning all this stuff I never once even booted CP2077 or Elden Ring on Steam Deck.
(I guess it might be different if I actually played them outside of the house and traveled all the time though. I mostly just use them when I want to be extra lazy and play in bed or something)

Most games the deck cannot handle at all, the Ally X handles poorly. It's the difference between unplayable and "I -have- to have this on a handheld". It's still more costly too ($500 my ass), and there's no OLED version, no HDR support.

The first time I got back into handhelds my idea was to play games that would feel good to play on a handheld. That is, where everything is appropriate for its display. The amount of detail lost, no matter the graphics, no matter the resolution even, is astounding when shrinking the screen so much. Playing a game like fucking RDR1 on a handheld to me is no good. It doesn't matter how great it looks or runs. It's just not comfortable to play at all.
I don't want the fucking portable AAA player. I want a cheaper current OLED deck. It's absolutely fucking perfect for any games I play on a handheld. It runs all of them crazy good. But it's too fucking expensive for what it is. I paid 540€ for it and it still hurts a bit. I don't mind it not being able to play fucking Expedition 33, I can't read the fucking fonts anyways. I have Apollo set up on PC to stream games and I barely use it, not because it doesn't work well (I love how I get next to no input lag, btw), it's just that I don't think any of these games that the deck cannot run well at 60fps are even designed for small screens at all. I've seen fucking 2D indie games that adjust elements for the switch version because not everything scales right on the smaller screen.
