3 and 4 are the only worthwhile SH titles

While I will always prefer the original no matter what. I have hope in this remake as a good side game. I never thought any form of Silent Hill 2 remake could ever be good, especially when you combine Konami and Bloober. I was pleasantly surprised just how much I liked the remake. Original is superior, but I didn't really have any complaints about the remake overall. I don't think it replaces it. It's something to appreciate after you have beaten the original. In Water was my favorite ending and will always be my canon. However, I really loved the new Stillness ending. It's easily tied with In Water for me even if I don't consider it truly canon. Bloober made their first good game because they didn't write it.

I am very mixed on 4 overall, and it's my least favorite of the Team Silent games. However, I do have to agree with you on the apartment and the door, especially being very iconic. I'd put its icon status on par with Pyramid Head. The only reason Pyramid Head feels more iconic is because Konami unreasonably milks the character in bullshit ways.

Considering the first film is probably the commercial peak of the franchise, it's a little more than an image but sure.

And that's without referring to any of the iconic moments of the actually good games. SH1's first transition into the otherworld, SH2's intro as James looks into the mirror, or the mirror room scare in SH3, to name some examples. SH4 is not a particularly iconic game in spite of its high points.
