AMD was also already supplying chips for the PS4/Xbox One, so I don't know if they even had the capacity to actually design and supply Nintendo with chips that meet their requirements. I also don't really know what AMD's SOC game was back in those times. Now, AMD is dominant in this field (excluding Apple of course who have the ARM world in a chokehold). I'm sure Nintendo would've been working with AMD now if they were working on a Switch 1. The reason they didn't switch to AMD for the Switch 2 probably has something to do with compatibility. Probably not worth it at that point to switch.
