Nothing wrong with linear, sometimes its nice just to focus on combat instead of checking every single nook and cranny in labyrinthine levels
DLC is more of the same, but the bosses are excellent (ymmv on the croc) the new weapons are great and it adds a lot to the story of the base game, its also hard as nails even on a NG on Legendary Stalker, which is the best way to play

The starting stat spread doesnt mean much in this game (or in most souls games really) since you'll get enough levels to pump up any stat you like by the end, even without respeccing
And since weapon scaling is based off the weapon handle, and upgrade points go towards the blades, you're not in danger of locking yourself out of a fully upgraded weapon after a respec

I got the base game a few days ago, stopped at the lobster bar today. The game slowly grew on me, the scrapped watchman took the longest to beat. Some parry timings are just wonky as fuck and Elden Ring has nothing on this game's delayed attacks. I went from the shock hammer to the fire axe to currently the fire dagger as far as weapons go. I was ready to quit at the watchman until I unlocked the quartz shit and the game became more enjoyable. I'm going to finish the game before I think about the dlc but overall I've started to enjoy it. Do you get to respec the quartz at some point?

its not that big of an investment, just ensure you use those advance cranks on weapons you really wanna take further, desu the starting 3 element weps (electric coil, salamander knife and acid spear) are all excellent weapons and you get them all early on, so an ADV playthrough even on a new game is comfy and you feel powerful right out the gate

well the first one that says that literally just makes the parry timing larger and makes you able to spam it faster

There’s a mod that makes the parry window/recovery the same frames as Sekiro. I have it installed and it makes the game a lot more fun imo.

Get her puppet to very low health
Focus on Markiona
As soon as phase 2 starts or is near starting, take out the puppet
Wail on Markiona as she heals it

I did this and she had barely any time to use phase 2 attacks

dodging has more depth. There's a lot of moves in the game that they want you to dodge as oppose to parry

damn that sounds awesome but if I install it, will I beat the game?

Unfortunately no, because you parried.

This was one of the worst games /v/ recommended to me.
This game flanderized the souls series before elden ring did
All enemies have super armor
You never have any super armor or poise
Your weapon constantly bounces off walls and random debris while enemy attacks will literally clip through pillars and hit you
Upgrades are meaningless since enemies are constantly scaling stronger than you
Bosses both have extremely fast attacks and mixed random delays with randomly extending attack chains
Enemy and player damage is randomized up to + or - 20%, so no strategic resource management
Every single corridor, ladder, stairs, and treasure has an ambush behind it.
Gank squads and projectile spam everywhere
Party timing is so tight you may as well just dodge instead.
Weapon assembly system punishes you for mixing heavy or elemental weapon components due to speed and scaling penalties
Your character is so slow that it takes 2 full seconds to dodge or heal after swinging a non-light weapon
Enemies have pixel perfect tracking meanwhile you have to manually turn to attack moving enemies
Haven't even played the dlc yet but I've heard they doubled down on all the issues

Not reading all of that. I beat it for the first time recently, going in completely blind. It's an okay game, it's not bad but it's not amazing either.

Whatever your complaints are they're hyper exaggerating. The most offensive thing about this game is just that it's boring sometimes.

lol what?
enemies don't scale - they're set based on whatever NG cycle you're on and whatever area you're in
just like any fromsoft game, upgrading your weapon and scaling attributes is hugely important
not readint the rest of your stuff

What fucking game did you play? The majority of enemies you fight can just be mashed through and you have obvious poise on heavy weapons or on all of the fable arts.
Clearly not worth reading the rest of your post if you're gonna start off with such blatantly false info
