Why was San Andreas remembered as a ghetto/thug simulator? The majority of the story takes place outside of Los Santos and you spend more time with James Woods in SF/LV than you do in Grove Street.

People remember the beginning and end since it's coherent. 90s style ghetto stuff in LA. Some of the lead devs themselves have come out and said they botched the middle part of the story and especially the two other cities. They essentially admitted they went too far in scope so the game ended up very uneven.

San Fierro’s city design was actually lackluster and had a lot less props than Los Santos. It was very copy and paste with little color variation. I feel as if they built San Fierro last. There aren’t many points of interest. Not even a mall. I mean, there IS one but you’d have to use your imagination.

I liked the Motown vibe they gave older parts of Los Santos. You can tell by the carpet designs in some interiors. Jefferson Motel was a perfect example of that sleazy early 70’s vibe. Same with the barber shop with Morgan Freeman.

because however great it is, it is extremely front loaded. all the real great stuff is in the first dozen missions. stealing a jumpjet is cool but getting drive-thru with the homies is memorable

To be honest I didn't care for that part of the game. I get that maybe they were trying to make the game huge and thus diversity was needed, both for environments and missions, but I never cared for SA's story beyond the gangsta shit in the early game. That's where the best missions, dialogue and characters are.
The only exception to this was the crazy hispanic bitch from GTA3 which was one of the best parts of the game.

We still had that shit in the 2010s, it's a spoof of those gayass brand stickers and rally liveries on riced Euro and gook cars, I kind of miss the spray can painted shitboxes plastered in stickers, it's the car equivalent of those flip phones with the stickers that light up and a dozen ornaments hanging from em.
