I'll never get over this. It feels like DA:O was almost supposed to be a sacrificial lamb that was pushed out to please some in house people working on it as a passion project, and to spite RPG grognards with a failure. Then they could pivot to the then popularly chased trends of action consol game with vague RPG elements. But oops it was a banger with a good franchise worthy extended world. Better pervert it at every opportunity.

Also note how they did Baldur's Gate II and it took 23 years and a different studio to attempt to do a true good faith sequel.

3 has ups and downs. Cerberus is insultingly stupid and a writers crutch, the Reapers aren't particularly threatening despite the game ostensibly being about stopping them. I quite liked the DLCs, but none of them fit adequately into the ticking-clock element of the game.

Yeah, and I thought it was mostly bad. Citadel dlc was okay, I wasn't a fan of the clone quest but the party was neat. Leviathan was alright, omega was fun, and Javik was a great character. I have big criticisms with some of the writing decisions and some levels (especially Thessia) are barely patched together garbage. I also think Insanity mode is boring compared to ME2's Insanity mode.

Overall, despite the new bells and whistles ME3 adds, I think I would rather play me2 over it every time. Multiplayer was good though, too bad they didn't bring it back with the remasters.
