Companies in Japan do cross-promo stuff all the time. There are even entire management companies set up to help companies create franchise cafes and the like. I remember when Pikmin 4 was releasing and Family Mart had a promo for a fruit sandwich where each fruit was (allegedly) picked by Pikmin.

I miss when companies would contract out their own promotional cereals. The 80s and 90s were lousy with dubiously caloric brand-themed cereals. Now all we get is some shitty labels on existing products that don't differ from the other products on the shelf.

Japan (actually SK and China too) do this all the time, I saw some Kimetsu no Yaiba crackers the other day and they were next to Mario chocolate cookies, none of which even had anything unusual about them except the packages. Kirby gummies, Doraemon noodles, some weird fucking thing (dried mixed seafood on miniature buns?) with Gundam on it. Shit is everywhere.
