souls bosses have become spamfests now, just rolling around spamming moves randomly and very buggy and janky. its not fun or a challenge its literal RNG most the times if youre struggling

just finished demons souls a week ago and elden ring just now like 5 minutes ago. demons souls is so much better in every way, i just would say the storytelling and lore of elden ring is way better

If you want to make an ACTION game, green cuck bar shouldn't exist.
Player and enemies should have at least somewhat comparable mobility and speed.
If enemies get to interrupt their animations, player should also be allowed to interrupt his animations (hello fromshit)
No arbitrary input delays (for example your main defense mechanic activating on button release and not press, hello fromshit).
Input buffering, if it would exist, should be painstakingly fine-tuned to not cause inconveniences to the player.

That's why I suggest First Berserker: Khazan.
Khazan added an easy mode, and they changed "Normal Difficulty" to "Hard Mode".

I never said never, I've just found that most of the time I'm hitting left click I never felt like it should have been anything else except for when there's a large enough window to use/charge up a heavy when there's a fat enough window or if it's a sweep against a group of enemies. The combat feels really, really barren in terms of what you can do, I envy the movesets of Lothric and Banished knights
Obviously I'm only talking about PvE here, but it'd be nice if basic movesets had a lot more "moves". Also the idle for two handing a longsword in DeS, DS1, DS3 and ER looks fucking stupid, and the moveset is gravely disappointing (and the same!)

I think Demon's-Dark Souls combat was obsoleted by Sekiro. "Sekiro 2" doesn't need to even be set in Japan, it could be another dark high fantasy game but with the basic loop of Sekiro-- wear down the enemy's defenses, block the filler attack beat correctly and avoid the high/low/grab mixup. The next step would be making the AI also suspectible to mixups or having full punishes be more complex than doing a couple of heavy attacks like in Sekiro.
Only other recent beat em ups as exciting as Sekiro were Sifu (flawed but surprisingly complex and extremely difficult on Sifu mode, even does some things God Hand didn't) and Stellar Blade (flawed, way too easy but has a great control scheme). DMCV was the opposite of exciting, give DMC to someone who has actually played a fighting game ever. Hopefully NG4 is good.

There's no reward if you're playing solo, but if you're playing with summons, and you can keep the bosses' aggro, you can completely distract the boss and parry their attacks while everyone else melts their HP. Love doing this for Dragonrider(s).

I was mostly talking about Dark Souls truthfully, I used heavies a lot more in ER, same with jumping attacks. Though with all of them I'd like it if they expanded on what you can actually do with a melee weapon. All you do is fucking roll, roll, roll, blocking with a weapon is never an option in your head because of chip damage and, more importantly, the cost to stamina. Combos don't exist in an "official" form (I'm not really sure what to call it, and I know it "exists" in Elden Ring, it doesn't amount to anything more than pressing the same button a few itmes in a row), there is no unique attack if you light then heavy, there's no unique attack if you light + heavy at the same time, you can't pommel bash with swords, you can't shaft bash with polearms, you're just gonna roll and roll and roll because that's the best (or only) way to avoid damage and you'll sneak in lights, a stray heavy or a busted weapon art until whatever you're fighting dies. Parrying and riposting isn't actually a part of your arsenal unless you're using a shield or a weapon that allows it, even though that's a MAJOR fucking component in melee combat and two-handed weapons miss out on what should be a critical feature.

Also fuck the Bloodhound Knight helmet, the only hounskull FromSoft ever made and your character doesn't even fucking wear it right

and here's the issue. ds3 and ER have no leg to stand on outside of how unpleasant they can make enemy encounters and boss fights. elden ring especially here, I'd argue it has the least build variety in the whole series just by virtue of excluding dark damage and related spells.

Maliketh is completely unreadable your first time fighting him. His basic attack patterns in his first phase do not communicate that he does 3 slashes the way he does them, they just come out completely untelegraphed and in such a way that you'll get frametrapped if you don't understand the timing.

Proactive gameplay designed around fighting multiple aggressive enemies at once, emphasizing crowd control and efficiency; as opposed to 1v1-focused, reactive gameplay where fights devolve into memorizing enemy attack patterns and pressing the parry or dodge button at the right time. No stamina bars. No lock-on. No headache-inducing RPG nonsense (though I don't mind it all that much so long as it can be easily ignored). Linear level design that doesn't waste my time with "exploration" or whatever else.

So basically what I'm saying is that I want more games like traditional beat 'em ups and Ninja Gaiden. It's that simple.
I don't necessarily hate Souls games, by the way. I just don't like how they've mostly dropped the adventure elements and turned into painfully below-average action games./spoiler]
