Gears of War at its worst beats post-2 Doom at its best. Gears could have a game where Marcus kills TERFs on the way to a sex change and real footage of the operation was shown and unskippable, and it'd be better than post-2 Doom.

TDA is total horse shit but there is no way it's as bad as Gears.
Gears is like you are a 500 pound person so all you do is hide behind a wall and use your remote to shoot at the enemy.
Doom at least requires you to move around while pointing your remote at the enemy.

They don't get Doom esthetics at all in those new games.
Original Doom was unironically the so-called "hard sci-fi" - it's futurism was more grounded, more utilitarian and therefore more comfy.

The gameplay is the reason why Gears will always beat post-2 Doom. I explained that there's absolutely nothing outside of changing the mechanics to something worse (like post-2 Doom stuff) could make it not be better. You can tack on as much bullshit in the graphics and story department as you want, and at the end of the day, it'll be a Gears game and halfway decent.
Post-2 Doom, on the other hand, you can dress up all you want, and it's like putting lipstick on a pig.
